Chapter 47 - I
“He actually imprisoned you!”
Shi Yi was furious. He really didn’t expect Bai Jingxiao to be such a bastard. Not only did he harm Shi Mo, but he also locked him up. If it weren’t for the coincidence that they went there, Shi Mo and Xiao Bao would have become two lifeless corpses.
Now, just thinking about it made him shudder. After hearing all the injustices and false accusations that Shi Mo endured in the Bai Mansion, he completely abandoned the idea of reuniting Shi Mo and Bai Jingxiao.
.
Pei Xing and Shi Yi’s thoughts aligned. He used to sympathize with Shi Yi and worry about his eldest brother, thinking of mediating between them. However, now he had entirely given up on the idea. Shi Mo had only suffered some emotional wounds, and at least he was safe. If he returned to the Bai Mansion with Bai Jingxiao, his fate might be sealed.
“I came here just to understand the situation.” Pei Xing took a sip of hot tea and looked at him. “As for whether you can take them away, it depends on your sincerity.”
Bai Jingxiao had assumed that Pei Xing came to help him retrieve Shi Mo, so he shared the entire story. Surprisingly, after a lengthy explanation, Pei Xing responded with just that sentence, and Bai Jingxiao’s expression immediately changed.
Calmly, Pei Xing met his gaze and said, “When we found Shi Mo, he and Xiao Bao were confined in an isolated yard. They were severely ill and couldn’t even call for a doctor. We secretly rescued them and administered life-saving medicine for two days to save them.”
Bai Jingxiao felt disheartened. Thinking about the foolish things he had done; he couldn’t help but regret and blamed himself.
“We went through great effort to rescue them. Shi Yi and his eldest brother have a strong bond. Now you want to take him away just like that? No, Shi Yi and I won’t allow you to take them without addressing the issues you can’t figure out beforehand. You need to come and retrieve them properly, ensuring Shi Mo and Xiao Bao’s safety in the future.”
Pei Xing continued, “If you can genuinely resolve everything and win back Shi Mo, he will decide whether to leave with you himself. Shi Yi and I won’t stand in his way.”
Bai Jingxiao remained in a daze for a long time. He sat in silence until late at night. Early the next morning, he packed his belongings and returned to Nanzhou City with a group of servants.
.
When Aunt Hong prepared breakfast, she discovered a letter in the courtyard addressed to Shi Mo. It was written by Bai Jingxiao himself, so she handed it to Shi Mo directly. Shi Mo read the letter, cried for a while, carefully put it away, and then continued as if nothing had happened.
Shi Yi couldn’t help but notice that Shi Mo hadn’t shed tears in secret since reading the letter.
“What did you say to the eldest young master of the Bai family?” Shi Yi, sitting in Pei Xing’s arms, tugged at his sleeve and asked.
“I told him to sort out his affairs before coming to see Shi Mo,” Pei Xing replied, holding Shi Yi’s hand and kissing his cheek. “Baby, you wrote three words incorrectly. How do you want to be punished?”
“Let’s punish me by not eating,” Shi Yi said, grabbing Pei Xing’s hand and pouting his red lips. “Your kisses hurt.”
Pei Xing placed his large hand on Shi Yi’s soft belly and kissed his eyes. “You aren’t hungry, but I don’t want to hurt you with kisses. Since you don’t want to kiss, let’s make up for it differently.”
With that, he carried Shi Yi to the bedroom, and they didn’t emerge for the entire afternoon.
.
Shi Yi remained angry and didn’t talk to him for three days. When Chu Nan came with Zhouzhou to pay their New Year’s greetings, Shi Yi suddenly remembered that he hadn’t settled the score about the red lotus fruit with them.
Recalling that Pei Xing and Zhou Yan had gone hunting in the mountains a while ago and had collected many deer tendons and antlers, he immediately located them and brewed two jars of medicinal wine.
While red lotus fruits were available year-round, he hesitated to pick them again, so he used the red lotus fruits he had collected when he fell off the cliff. Though some time had passed, they were still in good condition, but he wasn’t sure if they still retained their effectiveness. He added three of it into one of the jars and labeled it.
The two jars of medicinal wine were stored until New Year’s Eve when Chu Nan and Zhouzhou came to visit again for New Year greetings.
Shi Yi brought out the jars he had made and discreetly handed the marked jar to Chu Nan.
“Brother Chu, you and Zhouzhou don’t have children yet, right?” Shi Yi patted the jar of wine and said with a smile, “This is the medicinal wine I specially had the doctor prepare. It won’t harm the body. When you go back, have two cups every night to help Zhouzhou get pregnant.”
Chu Nan accepted it, reassured by the promise that it wouldn’t harm the body and could assist with pregnancy.
Zhouzhou could conceive as long as the red lotus mark between his eyebrows remained intact. However, it had been more than half a year since their marriage, and there was no sign of pregnancy. They were growing anxious and worried.
When they returned that night, they drank two glasses of wine, and it wasn’t until late at night that they realized something was amiss.
Zhouzhou felt more aroused than ever, pressing against Chu Nan. This intimate moment was more intense than any other time, both of them feeling an irresistible heat. They realized that this wasn’t medicine to aid pregnancy but a substance that heightened sexual desire. It was evident that Shi Yi, Pei Xing’s wife, was a vengeful person.
.
Back home, Shi Yi prepared for the evening, washing up early and sitting on the bed in only an undershirt, awaiting Pei Xing.
When Pei Xing entered the room, he saw Shi Yi enveloped in steam, his cheeks flushed from the hot water, his eyes glistening with moisture, and his curled eyelashes dancing. Shi Yi looked like a captivating red lotus adorned with water droplets.
Pei Xing didn’t hold back, pulling Shi Yi into his arms and kissing him passionately. Shi Yi eagerly responded.
“Baby, are you seducing me?” Pei Xing asked playfully.
Shi Yi clutched his lapel, his breath uneven, smacking his lips and detecting the medicinal wine. He inquired, “How much of the special medicinal wine I gave you have you consumed?”
“Only half the jar; I give the rest to Zhou Yan and Song Ning,” Pei Xing replied.
Shi Yi was momentarily stunned, unable to calm his racing thoughts. He swallowed nervously and prayed that nothing would happen to Zhou Yan and Song Ning.
“What’s wrong, baby?” Pei Xing kissed his bewildered face.
“You,” Shi Yi hesitated, afraid of arousing suspicion, so he didn’t dare to inquire about Zhou Yan and Song Ning’s situation. He pushed Pei Xing gently and furrowed his brow. “You have a bitter taste in your mouth. Go rinse it out.”
Pei Xing smiled and playfully kissed him before heading to wash up.
