I Was Sold to My Mortal Enemy (Double Transmigrations)

Chapter 56 - II

Shi Yi was putting on his shoes and socks at the moment.

Shi Yi had never experienced discomfort or hardship, he always wore the soft, white cotton and linen clothes Pei Xing provided. These clothes Baili Qing found were yellowed and had a musty odor.

He hesitated but eventually decided to change into them, as his current clothes were wet and uncomfortable, sticking to his body.

Baili Qing noticed Shi Yi’s white, delicate feet as he changed. He paused, then turned away, placing the rice porridge on the table. In a somewhat stiff tone, he said, “Come here and have some porridge.”

Shi Yi now understood that this man did not intend to harm him, which boosted his confidence. He let out a sigh, tied his shoe strings, and put on the slightly oversized leather shoes. The owner of this house appeared to be a hunter, and the bed was covered with animal skins. The shoes Baili Qing wore were also made of cowhide.

After putting on the shoes, Shi Yi hopped off the bed, picked up the clothes he had changed out of, and started walking toward the door. Baili Qing grabbed him, asking sternly, “What are you doing? Don’t think about running away, or I won’t be polite.”

Shi Yi knew he was bluffing and no longer feared him. He raised the changed clothes and said, “I’m going to hang these clothes out to dry. Maybe I can wear them tomorrow morning. I can also wash my hands while I’m at it.”

Baili Qing’s expression improved, and he followed Shi Yi as he hung the clothes on the courtyard fence. Shi Yi fetched some water from the well, Baili Qing helped him bring the water up and left him alone. Shi Yi washed his hands and face, rinsed the mud from his hair, and then thanked Baili Qing.

Returning to the house, Shi Yi saw Baili Qing sipping rice porridge from a large bowl. His large eyes gleamed upon seeing Shi Yi entered.

Shi Yi had not eaten all day and was so famished that his stomach ached. A few sips of the porridge alleviated the discomfort. He thought of Pei Xing, who must be anxious, and must be chasing for him a full day and night.

He gazed at the man beside him, uncertain. He didn’t understand why this man insisted on capturing him. “Um, can you please let me go? I want to return home.”

Baili Qing’s response was swift and uncompromising. “No.”

“If you dare to run away, I’ll break your legs.”

Shi Yi was temporarily silenced, sipping his porridge in small sips. After some time, he dared to ask again, “I’m just a commoner. Why have you detained me?”

Baili Qing glanced at him, took a sip of his porridge, pondered for a moment, then retrieved a design from his pocket, placing it on the table. He asked, “Did you create this?”

Shi Yi examined the design under the dim candlelight. It depicted the horse-drawn harvester he had drawn, as well as the design drawings for a simple seeder not yet produced.

He blinked, about to deny it, when he heard Baili Qing say, “I learned from Father Chu that you drew all of these.”

“What did you do to Father Chu?” Shi Yi thought for a moment. When he brought it up, he feared that Father Chu might be in danger because of these drawings.

Chu Nan and Zhouzhou only had Father Chu as their family. If something happened to him, Shi Yi would never find peace in his life.

“It’s nothing. I just borrowed a few blueprints.” he admitted. While assisting Father Chu in carrying wood, he overheard him praising these drawings. Curious, he investigated further and discovered a treasure. If it weren’t for these drawing, he wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to kidnap a shuanger.

“Did you really not harm him?” Shi Yi asked, looking at him intently.

“No, my focus is on you.” Baili Qing stated, his gaze intense and resolute.

Shi Yi’s eyebrows twitched upon hearing this. He lowered his head and sipped the porridge cautiously, feeling utterly bewildered.

Could this person have kidnapped him over a few drawings?

.

“Your husband is just a lowly civil servant with meager earnings. When we return to Nanyi, I’ll make you the prince’s concubine. Your status will be far more prestigious than that of a civil servant’s wife.” Baili Qing said, his tone gentle and tempting.

Shi Yi’s heart raced. Ahhh!!! Pei Xing!!

‘Come quickly, Lao Gong (husband/old gong), someone want to kidnap your wife!!’

“What do you say? Would you consider it?” Baili Qing inquired with a charming smile, watching Shi Yi’s anxious expression with interest. He reassured, “If you’re not ready to decide now, it’s alright. I won’t force you. We can wait until we return to Nanyi and get to know each other better.”

Shi Yi was skeptical of this offer.

Baili Qing thought, ‘Once you experience the luxuries of royal life and my tender care, you might not resist for long.’

Of course, he would be vulnerable once he entered the wolf’s den. In his heart, Shi Yi rolled his eyes but glanced at Baili Qing timidly. He asked, “Are you truly not going to harm me?”

“No, I’ll treat you better than your previous husband did.” Baili Qing responded with a grin.

Shi Yi lowered his gaze and admitted, “But I still prefer Pei Xing. You’re not as handsome as him.”

Baili Qing’s expression darkened, but he chuckled, “Looks are just superficial. What truly matters is ability and status. Those are the qualities worth following.”

“It’s not useful; I just like Pei Xing’s appearance,” Shi Yi retorted quietly. He glanced at Baili Qing and quickly averted his gaze. He continued, “He loves me deeply, never loses his temper with me, and seldom speaks harsh words to me. You may like me, but with your many concubines and royal affairs, I won’t be the only one.”

Baili Qing was so angry that he clenched his fists. After a deep breath, he said coldly, “You are a shuanger and infertile but there are two children at home. You’re deluding yourself if you believe your husband only loves you, while you raised his children from others.”

Shi Yi appeared surprised and explained, “Xiao Liu and Hong Luo? Xiao Liu is an orphan adopted by my parents; he’s my younger brother. Hong Luo is Aunt Hong’s daughter. Did you not notice that they don’t look alike?”

Baili Qing was left speechless.

Regardless, he insisted, “No matter what, you must come back to Nanyi with me.”

Note: lol, Shi Yi always make things funnier than it should be.
