Chapter 18: Pokémon Hit People, People Hit Pokémon
Bell looked at the grinning Rope and his expression grew cold.
"So there's no talk?"
Bell's tone was still fervent, but the words spoken and his face were cold as frost.
Rope couldn't quite understand how he managed to say such declarations of war in the most enthusiastic of tones.
Rope sighed softly and met Bell's sharp, knife-like gaze, "I just don't get it, just an apology. If you make a mistake, do you still not apologize? Even if you don't come looking for it, isn't it a bit presumptuous of you not to apologize when you do?"
He raised his eyebrows and grinned.
"Who are you?"
"Shadow Ball!"
With Bell's cold shout, the teapot on the table's instantly burst open, the outer layer of the gorgeous porcelain shell burst, small pieces of porcelain scattered and shot, Polteageist revealed himself a black Shadow Ball instantly cohesive, then mixed in the broken porcelain pieces in a swift and swift momentum towards Rope shot.
Rope's face didn't change, the Pokéball on his waist automatically opened, Charmander appeared in front of Rope, two arms appeared on the armor made of flames, hands interlocked, blocked the Shadow Ball. the scattered pieces of ceramic went through Rope's body, bringing up a flying flame, but Rope himself, unharmed.
Bell was taken aback by the spectacle, not to mention how the flames fell from Rope's body, but the fact that Charmander blocked the Polteageist's Shadow Ball was enough to amaze him.
Charmander was his own pick, and he couldn't be more aware of what kind of abilities he had. A Charmander that was not even two years old had blocked a Polteageist that had been with him for ten years, which was incredible. And this Charmander didn't have this ability just ten days ago.
Just ten days? What could you do in ten days?
Bell was caught up in feeling his three views waver. But years of combat experience and intuition had him pulling out the only Pokéball he carried on his belt in the next instant.
"Come out, Umbreon, Dark Pulse!"
"Boo-ee!"
"Charmander, Quick Attack, attack Bell!"
"Woo~"
Umbreon released a black, circular wave in Rope's direction as soon as it hit the ground. On the other hand, Charmander on the other side glowed with flames and attacked towards Bell with a flash.
"Polteageist, Protect!"
Polteageist drifted towards Bell in a hurry, his body glowing with the green "Protect" skill.
In the blink of an eye, Charmander and Polteageist collided with each other, and Polteageist's face flashed with pain as he took a few steps back, but still managed to block Charmander.
On the other hand, Rope's right arm turned into flames, and he blasted out a "Fire Fist" to confront Umbreon's Dark Pulse head-on. It didn't last long, but Umbreon was quickly defeated as the orange-red flames roared towards him, and he could only endure the discomfort of having his moves shattered, and fought to use Protect.
But he had underestimated Rope's ability, and the powerful Fire Fist shattered its Protect and blasted it into the wall.
It struggled to get up, but the Protect and Dark Pulse blocked most of the Fire Fist's power, or else Umbreon would have been incapacitated by now.
It was a lot of work, but in reality, it was only a matter of a minute.
The ups and downs of this minute directly made Bell doubt his life.
Pokémon attacking the opponent's trainer was a common occurrence in wild fights. So generally speaking, trainers don't carry only one Pokémon on their person, at least one of them should be used to protect themselves.
Bell saw that Rope only had one Pokéball on him, and Polteageist had told him that there were no Ghost Pokémon in his opponent's shadow. So he made up his mind to fight this difference in numbers.
But who would've thought... Rope nearly knocked his Umbreon down with a straight punch. And it was still an arm that turned into flames, and now Rope's right arm still had the appearance of a burning flame.
"What... what are you?" Bell asked, opening his mouth in a shaky voice.
Rope shrugged off his right arm, the churning flames once again transforming into flesh and bones, and smiled.
"Me, I'm just a mediocre devil fruit user."
Bell's mind was a mush as he listened to this completely unheard of term.
Luckily, he wasn't stupefied for long, as the butler's shout and Houndoom's growl snapped him out of his daze.
He looked at Rope with a sneer.
"You may be strong, but this is my manor, and all Pokémon here, follow my orders!"
Five Houndoom roared right through the living room door, entering and surrounding Rope in perfect order, crouching their backs and baring their teeth in a low growl. And the butler threw out three Pokéballs, and Bellossom, Ledian, and Mr. Mime appeared at Bell's side as guards.
Bell sneered at Rope, "Come on, Professor Harlow, show me your power!"
Rope looked around, this encirclement looked like it had been trained, blocking almost every avenue of retreat for him.
"You've trained well!"
Unfortunately...
"Inferno Domain1."
Rope's low voice rang out as a wave of fire surged out from the soles of his feet, quickly spreading across the entire parlor.
Before the butler and Bell had time to react, Rope's next words exited.
"Inflaming Dragon, Coiling1."
A divine dragon coalesced with flames soared out from the Inferno Domain, roaring as it coiled around the entire parlor. Soon, flames rose up at the edges of the parlor and then began to spin.
The flames transformed into a spinning cage, leaning inward and stepping forward.
"Charmander, Ember, knock out these Houndoom that are in the way."
"Woo!"
The pillar of fire that erupted from Charmander's mouth knocked the converging five Houndoom into the flames in one fell swoop.
The butler's three Pokémon hid behind him or at his shoulders and shivered. Then they were retrieved into the ball by Butler with a curse.
And the duo of Steward and Bell were sweating profusely, their hair and eyebrows dry and curled from the roasting. Their lips were cracked and blood oozed from them. Dodging the flames, the duo had to make their way towards the center of where Rope was.
Charmander leered as Rope watched the duo with a smirk.
"Come on, Mr. Mayor, teach me a lesson on your home turf."
Bell didn't reply with fear on his face.
However, the flames were still approaching and the space inside was getting smaller.
"You! You stop! I'll promise you anything you want!"
Bell finally yelled as he looked at Charmander, who was already close at hand.
"Apologize, your son must apologize."
"Fine fine! I promise you! Put me out! Make the flames stop!!!"
Bell was completely broken at this point. It wasn't that he hadn't experienced the experience between life and death, but this feeling of walking towards death step by step was just too much to bear.
Rope smiled at his words and waved his hand, the flames surged, Bell and the butler were shocked, feeling the searing heat waves, they screamed out in unison. But in the next instant, the flames abruptly went out.
The two of them, Bell and the housekeeper, sat paralyzed on the ground at once, gasping for air, their faces filled with relief and joy after escaping from death.
The two of them hugged each other excitedly, their faces full of excitement.
Rope saw a chill run through his body and hurriedly said, "Hurry up and let Bailey come out to apologize, I'll leave after apologizing!"
These words made Bell's face colorful with joy, and he hurriedly ordered the butler to call Bailey over, then subconsciously glanced at his own parlor, and his body stiffened for a moment.
Aside from the five Houndoom, who didn't know whether they were alive or dead, lying on the floor, the originally gorgeous parlor was still in ruins. The large hole in the ceiling allowed one to look up at the stars.
He turned his head to Rope and opened his mouth to say something. He ended up getting a vicious glare from Rope, and swallowed all the words back into his stomach.
Not a moment later, the butler brought Bailey in.Once Bailey entered, she didn't care about the fact that her family's parlor was burned. With wide eyes, she looked at Charmander and said in surprise, "Great! Dad, you brought my Charmander back!"
Saying this, he was about to rush forward to give Charmander a hug.
But he was greeted with a live tackle from his own dad.
"Apologize to Charmander!"
Bailey looked at his exasperated dad quizzically and asked, "Dad, what are you talking about?"
Bell looked at Rope's slightly impatient face, and his right arm, which was beginning to flop again, and slapped Bailey across the face.
"Apologize! Come on!"
Bailey froze for a moment, covering his face, then cried out with an 'ow'.
Bell, however, didn't even want to pay attention, and there was one or the other, another slap.
"Apologize!"
"Yeah... I'm sorry. Wooo..."
Hearing the apology and seeing Charmander's relaxed face, Rope exhaled a cloudy breath and said, "Well, it's done. See you again sometime."
After saying that, he took Charmander back into the ball and strutted out.
Bell also breathed a sigh of relief, finally sending this plague away. His body went limp and he lay down.
The butler rubbed the sweat from his head, and instead of consoling Bailey, who was still howling, arranged for the cleanup.
And in the corner that no one noticed, a Growlithe with the word "quick-witted" written all over its face, sneaked out of the manor.
