Chapter 3.1
I returned to the dorm and flopped onto my bed.
Then I sat up, lay back down, sat up again—repeating the motion like some kind of impromptu sit-up routine.
Why was I doing this? Because I couldn’t get the image of Choi Uma’s self-pleasuring scene during orientation out of my head!
“Is this what college life is? No, it’s not! This is definitely not what college life is supposed to be!”
They call this the uncanny valley, right? A beastman, not quite human, sitting on a chair with legs spread, rubbing her groin—or rather, her privates—with a body almost indistinguishable from that of a human. The memory was burned into my brain, and I was utterly flustered and deeply disturbed.
I was on the verge of losing my mind!!!
…Or so I told myself, but honestly, the sweat glistening on her white hair, her pink eyes glazed with heat, were unexpectedly… pretty. Her thighs were firm and elastic, even without stockings. When I pushed aside the absurdity of the situation and focused on the human-like parts, my junior… twitched.
No, no, stop right there, junior.
This is some kind of hairy mental illness. Calm down.
‘This won’t do.’
I needed to share this bewilderment! This sense of unease! And who better to share it with than my ball-less best buddy?
I immediately pulled out my phone and sent a KakaoTalk message. To whom? Na Minseo!
[Me: Dude.]
[Na Minseo: Yeah?]
[Me: I just saw a classmate masturbating on a chair during orientation. She was literally rubbing her privates and finished all by herself.]
[Na Minseo: Is this the plot of some novel you’re recommending?]
[Me: I’m dead serious, man.]
Why doesn’t he believe me? Then again, I wouldn’t believe it either if someone else told me!
After a short silence, Na Minseo replied with a video. I opened it to see his fist mimicking a crude depiction of a woman’s privates, rubbing against a classroom chair.
[Na Minseo: “Private rubbing, lol.”]
[Me: “You’re insane, lolol.”]
[Na Minseo: “Hahaha.”]
He didn’t believe me, of course, but getting it off my chest made me feel a bit better. Friends really are the best.
As soon as I exited the chat with Na Minseo, another notification popped up!
KakaoTalk!
[Class of ’23 Visual Design Group Chat]
“Oh, so this is the department group chat. Even an awkward introvert like me can get important announcements here.”
A new group chat had been created for the Class of ’23! A chat with all my classmates! My plan was simple: respond only when necessary and lurk in the shadows.
‘And, of course, do a little reconnaissance!’
I entered the chat and began clicking on the profile pictures of the members one by one. To familiarize myself with their faces, of course.
‘Memorizing your classmates’ faces is just common courtesy!’
Absolutely not because I was curious if there were any pretty girls. Nope, not at all!
In the Visual Design department, mammalian beastmen made up the majority, with canine and feline beastmen being the most common.
As I scrolled through the profile pictures, I found myself lingering on a feline beastman female classmate.
She had strikingly blue eyes, black-gray bangs, and hair that transitioned to a pale beige as it flowed downward. Her sharp, triangular ears and dignified expression made it obvious she was a feline beastman. There was something captivating about her; her vivid blue eyes seemed to have a mesmerizing charm.
“Wow, she’s gorgeous. Must be a pedigree beastman. Her name is… ‘Momyammi’? What kind of name is that?”
Scrolling further down the group chat list, I spotted Choi Uma. Was she into rabbits even at home? Her profile picture showed her hugging a white rabbit that looked just like her, while making a gyaru peace sign.
No one else knew, of course. To anyone else, Choi Uma might seem like just another cute classmate. They’d never guess that the same girl was grinding her hips against a classroom chair in such a vulgar display!
She’s terrifying!
KakaoTalk!
“Ah, crap, that scared me!”
Speak of the devil, and she appears! Just as I was cursing Choi Uma in my mind, a message from her popped up! Of course, I didn’t read it. The preview on the notification bar was enough: [Hey, Ji-hyuk! Is this the right number? It’s me, Uma, hehe.]
I ignored it.
‘I’m terrified of her!’
How could she have the nerve to text me after that incident in the classroom? If it were me, I’d be avoiding everyone out of sheer embarrassment!
‘It must take a special level of shamelessness to do something like that in public!’
I made up my mind: from now on, I’d steer clear of Choi Uma. If I kept hanging around someone who acted like that, people might start thinking I was weird, too!
I didn’t even want to come to this college, so the least I could do was lay low and stay out of trouble.
“Now then, time to eat something!”
Determined to fill my empty stomach, I grabbed the instant ramen I’d bought at the convenience store the day before. The dorm’s hot water dispenser was in the first-floor student lounge, so I had to go downstairs to use it.
Why couldn’t they just install one on every floor? But, well, it is what it is.
“Let’s get this over with—WHOA!”
“W-why are you so startled? Oh, um, did you see my message? D-did you miss it?”
“Wait… you’re staying in the dorms?”
“Huh? Y-yeah. Room 504.”
As soon as I opened the door, I ran into Choi Uma. What? She lives in the dorms, too? And she’s in the room next door?! What kind of cursed fate is this?!
While I tried to calm my pounding heart, Choi Uma noticed the ramen in my hands and gave a wide grin.
“Are you… about to eat?”
“Uh, yeah…”
Oh, this is my chance to escape!
“Right, well, I’m off to eat now. Nice seeing you. Or not. Bye!”
