Chapter 99: Chapter 89 Dragons and Crisis Solved

Before anyone could even say a word about his abrupt behavior, Dante appeared in front of Elizabeth in a blur, with a face that didn't wear its usual smile. His sudden proximity and serious face made her heart skip a beat. "Hey, can you call your friend and check if he is okay?" he blurted out, his voice tinged with an uncharacteristic neutral tone.

Elizabeth tilted her head as she tried to process it, "Yes?" even after saying that she didn't understand the why, many theories invaded her, like 'Am I that easy to read and showing how worried I am?'

Elizabeth quickly received a reply that said, "Oh, don't worry. I was actually having problems until I met a dragon girl in white robes. She seemed hurt and running away from an enemy, and she was the one who invited me to temporarily work with her until I found my teammates."

After relaying her friend's message out loud, Elizabeth's gaze turned pensive, with confusion still evident on her face; she asked, "Is there a problem?"

Dante spoke with an uncharacteristic calmness, downplaying the significance of his words. He calmly stated, "Yes! We will die if we go with your friend!"

...

...

...

Everyone hearing Dante's words muttered in disbelief, "What...?"

Su Yuan mumbled, thinking she had misheard, "I think you're jumping to a conclusion on that one. You! The person who was breaking reality by saying some funny words..." She grabbed a piece of CENSORED as she spoke, her antennae twitching as she exclaimed. "WILL DIE TO SOMEONE?!!!"

Dante pondered deeply as he processed this information. "Well... not exactly to "someone." It's a series of events that will lead to us being almost dead! Or at least that's what we believe..." His face took on a serious, contemplative expression as he held up his pinkie, which trembled visibly. "See, it's still twitching! Something bad will happen if we go! We're sorry, Elizabeth, but we like our friends to be alive, so going there is out of the question now."

Elizabeth's face shifted from confusion about not knowing what was happening to deep worry about knowing his friend was in danger. "Does that mean he needs something or is a problem? OH GOSH! It's my fault...?"

Dante, sensing her rising panic, tried to reassure her. "Nah! Our presence would act as a detonator for the chain of events that would inevitably end with us dead or incapacitated." His eyes turned cold for a second, a rare and chilling sight. "If we are lucky..." He quickly softened, "So the answer to all of this is just not to go!"

His demeanor abruptly gave a 360-degree turn as a happier voice took over. "We also don't want to get an 'I TOLD YOU SO' from our dear friend over there." He pointed at Daniel, whose eyes were fixed intently on him. After a brief discussion, they decided to head in the opposite direction they had originally planned.

They settled inside a mountain, taking constant news from their friend and learning about the girl in white robes. The friend called August and soon informed them that he and the dragon girl had already separated. According to his words, "She was quite nice with it, and even blessed me, giving me buffs so I wouldn't die on my way back here."

Dante contemplated finding Elizabeth's final teammate. However, this time, everything felt different. His senses remained calm, and he realized that he was no longer in danger. His grip on the body loosened even more at this realization. "Wow! This power is quite nice; we wonder if it would have warned us about someone capable of taking us down when we were Rainbow Dash. Okay, guys, the situation is defused; nothing bad will happen! ALSO! Fourteen hours before we finish the first part!"

Dante began teleporting everywhere, searching for Elizabeth's last teammate. It took him about 30 minutes, appearing in front of players and random traps set to catch lone wanderers.

And only one trap accomplished something meaningful... and that was... to disarrange her hair a little bit! which she found mildly annoying, but nothing out of the world.

Finally, they found Elizabeth's last friend, August. He responded with a relieved tone about how it went, "Well, nothing bad occurred when I was there. They kept themselves hidden and avoided problems. If any player came by, she asked if they liked to follow her and if they said no, nothing happened. She's just a player finding strength in numbers. The only weird thing about her is her way of talking...-"

...

...

...

While this event occurred in the somewhere, far away, an extraordinary sight unfolded. A young woman dressed in shimmering, pearl-white robes that seemed to glow in the surrounding darkness was seen. Her face was covered in shadows, but what truly caught the eye was her striking red and yellow tail, peeking out from beneath the flowing fabric.

Someone appeared to have asked her a question, but there wasn't anyone visible in plain sight to hear her words, "This... is naught but a collection of poems, gathering dust for at least a decade. The heavens have whispered their import unto me: 'Take heed, for their worth thou shalt not delay.'" Said the soft yet resonant voice laden with an ancient cadence.

Nearby, a cloaked figure stood like a sentinel, his form almost blending into the encroaching shadows. In his hand, he clutched a weapon with an air of readiness. His eyes were sharp and piercing, constantly scanning the surroundings for any sign of threat. "Since we met, you've spoken in that old tone or whatever it is. Do you control it?" he asked, as his curiosity was piqued by her archaic speech.

A delicate butterfly landed softly beside her and gracefully settled on her outstretched hand. She remained still, with her eyes closed as if she was communicating silently with the tiny creature; then, after a few seconds, the dragon girl responded, "A vow... made ere I didst realize."

"I'll take that as a no," he muttered, glancing at the girl who was engrossed in a piece of parchment. "What are you even reading?"

With a graceful motion, she gestured towards the top of the parchment, where ornate, faded letters spelled out the title. She cleared her throat softly, intoning, "The Prophecy of the Sunset Threads."

The genesis of all:

In twilight's embrace, where shadows veil, four unfortunate souls are entwined. 'Let those tales be told,' a prankster whispers secrets to his friend; as pawns move, destinies twist and bend to a celestial spell ready to transcend.

The girl's lips formed a smile of genuine happiness; she seemed heartened by the cloaked figure's interest in the ancient text. "Each soul doth possess its own poem, unique and true," she explained, her eyes shining with a mix of excitement and reverence. "Wouldst thou desire to hear it, too?"

The man, still slightly confused by her archaic and poetic language, tried to mask his curiosity and said with a disinterested tone, "Hearing something that might or might not happen always comes in handy,"

II The Corrupted Oracle:

At last, the corrupted girl stands alone. A vessel is coveted; it's the body they claim. Ten executioners await, one more than ready to seize her with a wave. Ending with a chaotic unease and many souls at the edge of a flame.

III The Foolish Girl

Blessed by gods, yet veiled in ignorance, Blinded by the light, she seeks and stumbles without darkness; overwhelmed with duty, she weaves threads unknown, being the Catalyst of fate, binding souls into one throne.

IV The Paranoid Wallmaker:

With a Sniper's eye keen, it laid traps with care; being Backstabbed once, it breathes wary air. Its Weakness, veiled in a curtain of silk, sheathes its fragile frame, and stone by stone, it traps its own soul with a self-imposed toll.

V The Gambler Thief:

A lavish debt shadows him, with stakes higher each day, A gambler's soul, risking all in with a play in his day-by-day. His pocketed abilities give a symphony of chance; his notes, pilfered from others, always end with a stolen dance.

VI Träumend

And then, in the middle of all the chaotic cries, four red threads intertwine, being fate's grand surprise. Sealed by four witnesses: a girl with stained, ravishing hair, A guy favored by earth and heavens themselves, A whispering yellow thing with many eyes and mouths, and, as time passes by, someone with a touch as gentle as a lover's kiss.

She carefully turned the pages, her expression growing heavier as she gazed upon the worn and shattered fragments once again. "'Tis truly a pity that I cannot recount the rest, for time consumed the remnants."

The mysterious figure lurking in the shadows of the tree cast a doubtful glance at her. "So, you're on a quest to find those four, hoping to achieve your goal?"

She straightened her posture, and now pride gleamed in her eyes. "Yes."

He regarded her with a cold, warning gaze. "I wish you good luck because my only job is to protect you, not to help you with all this gibberish. If you get into trouble for trying this, we will not help you."

She smiled gently and said it with a soft but resolute voice. "I know."
