POV Kuroro Lucifer

Meanwhile, in the basement of the skyscraper.

Dead silence reigned. The only sound that could be heard in this realm of the dead was the faint, barely audible sound of dripping blood that was still slowly coming from the pile of corpses lying in the large hall where the Auction was being held.

Kuroro Lucifer, the leader of the Genii Ryodan, was sitting right on the stage reading a book. He did not care at all about the consequences of the recent massacre, which left the hall full of corpses. He was completely indifferent. However, the smell of blood was starting to hit his nose a little, which made him feel a little uncomfortable. But he still continued to sit still, immersed in thought.

'Why... Why did things turn out like this? It wasn't supposed to turn out this way. It was supposed to be different. Though it's always like that in life: we try, we make plans, we prepare for one thing, but fate presents us with something completely different. That's how it is this time. Fate has arranged it so that everything I've created all these years has almost collapsed. It won't be long now. There's no escaping it. I know that, I realise that... In the end we are all slaves to fate.'

As Kuroro sat and pondered he felt a violent shaking.

'What's that? It seems to be on the ground floor.'

While he was trying to realise what had just happened Feitan came running over to him.

- Hey boss, we have a problem. - He turned to Kuroro.

- What's wrong?

- The vault was empty. There's nothing there.

- There's nothing?

- Yes. But we found one guard and cracked him. He told us that a guy had entered the vault. He didn't bring anything in or take anything out, but after him, all the lots disappeared.

- That's how... In that case, let's go after him. He can't be far away. Gather the others and go after him together.

- I will. Aren't you coming with us?

- You guys go ahead and I'll catch up with you. I need to check something.

Feitan ran straight to the others.

Kuroro got to his feet and walked leisurely to the lift. Stepping into the lift, he went to the ground floor.

'Damn, my head's been hurting lately. I wonder why?'

Once he got to the ground floor, he headed forwards down the corridor straight to the main exit.

But when he got to the place where the exit should be, there was only a pile of rubble instead. Everything within a sixty metre radius, from the ground floor to the fifth floor, had been destroyed. All he could see in front of him was the wreckage of walls, ceilings, and a few pieces of furniture and other furnishings.

'What happened here? Was it Bonolenov who applied one of his dances? But what induced him to do so? What kind of opponent did he have that forced him to use it? 'Lucky the building didn't collapse.'

He stepped onto the pile of rubble and began to leisurely walk around and look around.

After barely a minute of wandering around, he noticed a knife a few metres away from him, stuck in a piece of wood sticking out of the rubble. It was pretty clean and new. It looked like it had been stuck into this piece of wood after the building had collapsed.

'A knife? But where would it come from?'

Kuroro reached out his hand to pick it up, but suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a silhouette at his side. He instantly jumped back a couple of metres.

'It's... It's him!'

A few metres away from Kuroro, a tall man about two metres tall stood on a large rock with his hands behind his head. He was wearing a long black lapel-less coat with straps crossing his bare chest in an X-shape, and trousers with thick horizontal stripes of black and white. On his head he wore a black, hood-like headdress from which dangled several small metal trinkets with the letters that made up his name. The headdress hid some of his hair, though his grey fringes almost reached his eyebrows. And of course his eyes stood out, with black sclera and natural red irises.

From his appearance, there was only one thing to say.....

- Well, here we are, Risotto Nero. - Said Kuroro with a faint smile on his face.

- If my guess is correct, you are the leader of the Spiders, am I right? - Asked Risotto with a rather serious, and even a little frown on his face.

- Quite right.

- Then answer me one question: why do you need us? Why are you after us?

Kuroro hesitated for a moment.

- Why do you say that? It's hard to say...

He turned away from Risotto and looked at the clouds.

'Hmm, it looks like it's going to rain a little soon.'

- Look here. I asked you a question and you never answered it. - Risotto said in a slightly threatening voice, climbing down from the rock and picking up a knife stuck in a piece of wood.

- Why do I need you? I told you it's hard to explain. I would even say... impossible!

After saying that, Kuroro threw himself at Risotto. He grabbed a knife from the inside pocket of his coat and tried to wound Risotto who was standing still. But when the knife was a few centimetres from his hand, it jumped out of Kuroro's hand and flew backwards. In response, Risotto grabbed his knife and tried to slit Kuroro's throat in one swift motion, but he reacted quickly and jumped back, though he was left with a scratch on his neck afterwards.

- Hmm, curious,' Kuroro spoke up, 'So the information about you was true. You really do control metal. So weapons made of metal are useless against you.

- That's right. And your knife isn't exactly ordinary,' Risotto remarked, 'When you attacked me, you weren't trying to deliver a killing blow. You didn't care where you hit. Even a small wound in the arm would have been enough. Which means your knife is poisoned!

'He's very perceptive.'

- It's time to get serious. - Said Risotto, then began to turn transparent until he disappeared completely.

'That wasn't in the report. Invisibility, huh? Oh well... He's acting rather cautious and tactful. I should be more careful too.'

Kuroro began to look around, trying to find any clue as to where his opponent might be. But there was nothing. His opponent was acting very cautiously and not making a single sound.

Kuroro continued to look around until he felt a terrible pain in his throat. He grabbed his throat, bent over slightly and spat out a bunch of razor blades.

'Damn!' Manipulating the iron in my body, even though I'm using Tan. He doesn't want to kill me quickly. He will proceed slowly and deliberately. It can't go on like this. I'll have to use En.'

With a bit of concentration, Kuroro stretched Ten with Ren's help and formed a sphere around him with a radius of about ten metres in which he could feel the enemy approaching. That was what was called En.

- There you are!!! - Shouted Kuroro and rushed towards the direction in which he sensed Risotto.

Already approaching a metre away, he was about to strike. Suddenly, a rebar burst out of the pile of rubble at a tremendous speed. It struck Kuroro on the chin, making him dizzy and almost fall over.

Risotto took advantage of this and stepped away.

'Holy crap, that was quite unexpected. The speed at which it can throw iron projectiles like this rebar is truly impressive. However, I now know its attack radius. Right now, due to the headache, my radius of En's coverage is slightly reduced to about ten metres. Right now, I can't feel him in that radius, and it's not like a bunch of blades are going to come out of me. That means his radius of manipulating the iron in my blood is probably about ten metres.'

More rebar began to burst out from under the rubble, attacking Kuroro at high speed like spears. But this time it wasn't unexpected for him, so he was able to dodge them without much trouble. Iron particles began to emerge from the debris and began to form into various cold weapons, mostly knives. Kuroro continued to dodge all the projectiles that flew at him, but it was getting a little heavier and sometimes the knives still left small cuts on him.

'It's getting tricky. His blood iron manipulation radius is only ten metres, but his environmental iron manipulation radius is much larger.'

The pressure of Risotto's attacks didn't slacken. The projectiles he attacked Kuroro with were faster than bullets. Even so, Kuroro held steady for now, but it was obvious that he was getting harder.

'It's time to stop this. I've made sure of his strength, and that's enough. I'm not here to kill him. We need to get out of here before 'he' calls me again.'

Kuroro jumped out of the hurricane of projectiles that attacked him and moved nearly forty metres away from the battle scene. He cast his gaze over the spot where he assumed Risotto might be.

- You really amaze me, Risotto Nero,' he began to speak loudly, hoping that Risotto would hear him, 'Your abilities are truly amazing. But do you have the strength to face a far more serious opponent? Are you strong enough to resist your destiny? You ask, what does all this mean? Unfortunately, I can't tell you that. I can't physically tell you that. But know that I'm not exactly your enemy. It's more complicated than that.

After saying that, Kuroro quickly ran off into an alley. Before he left completely, he took one last glance at the scene of the battle. He saw Risotto had come out of invisibility after all and was looking in the direction Kuroro had run off to.

Smiling lightly, Kuroro headed towards his subordinates who were supposed to be tracking down the Auction's treasure thief.
