Lady of Curses

Chapter 31-Glowing destination

While looking around Aella found their destination, or at least she thought she did. She didn't ask her companion if her hunch was right, but instead took a closer look at the place she thought they will be eating.

It looked like a giant mushroom, with a white stem and dark purple cap with lighter pink dots on it. The stem had what looked like a door at the bottom, there were illuminating long, vine-like plants hanging from the cap's bottom all the way down to the ground that glowed in a soft purplish-pink glow.

The cap itself looked like it was cleanly cut at one point as it had a smooth horizontal top, but looking at the rest of the cap, Aella could see that it should have the more traditional half-sphere-looking cap. But the thing that was the biggest indicator that it was the place they were going to eat was, that Aella could see some people on the cap eating at their tables.

Aella's hunch on where they were going to eat was confirmed when they, got closer and closer to the giant mushroom until they arrived at the door that was located at the base of the stem.

The pale lady opened the door and went in while Aella followed right behind her. On the other side of the door was a big room, that was in the same color as the stem of the mushroom. The room's source of light was small, purple mushrooms that were growing all around the walls and the ceiling.

Aella saw that the room was mostly empty, with the exception of the small mushrooms, a desk that was a few steps in front of her, and an opening that had stairs leading up. Behind the desk stood a tall lady with a big mushroom cap hat and a somewhat transparent gown that was concealing most of her body from the neck down.

Aella couldn't really see how the lady looked or what she was wearing under the gown, because the lighting was low in the room and the receptionist's face was mostly concealed behind the big hat.

''Table for two.'' While Aella was looking around and staring at the lady at the other end of the desk, her companion had already walked up to the desk and asked for a table.

''Right this way.'' The receptionist adjusted her hat, and took what looked like two menus, and led them up the stairs.

While walking up the spiral stairs, Aella saw the same small mushrooms all across the walls, and at the same time, she saw some closed doors here and there as they climbed the stairs. There wasn't much that interested Aella as they climbed the stairs, so she just looked straight as they climbed, but most of her view was blocked by the receptionist and the pale lady, so she just fell into motion and retreated into her mind, where she thought about few things.

It didn't take long before they arrived at the mushroom's top, and they were led to their table. When Aella and her companion sat down they were given the menu, and the receptionist that led them here retreated and went back.

They were given a table that was near the edge, so Aella could easily see most of the area. She saw that there were plenty of people here eating, so this was probably a popular place to eat, of course not all the tables were occupied, but there were only a few empty tables. Another thing was that the place was dimly lit by a few dark pin circles that were on the ground, and the tables themselves were softly radiating some light purple light, and the tables looked like they were growing from the giant mushroom.

After Aella took a quick glance around, she finally turned her attention to the menu. The menu itself looked interesting as it had a white background, but the text was glowing with calm purple light.

''Have you decided what you want?'' While Aella was still looking at the menu, she heard the pale lady, who was sitting across of her, ask if she knew what she wanted.

''Not really.'' Aella was still looking at the menu as she answered, and she couldn't decide what she wanted, so she put the menu down and looked at the lady. ''I will take what you're having.''

''Fine by me.'' It looked like the silver lady didn't mind. The next moment the pale woman, put her menu down on the table and taped it wither her finger two times quickly. After she did that, the menu lit up for a moment before calming down as a small mushroom grew out of it.

After the mushroom was fully grown the pale lady pulled off the mushroom's cap, and put it down on the menu, and then she tapped it like it was a bell. While Aella was still wondering what she was doing, she saw how both of the menus lit up for a moment, before the disassembled mushroom turned into many little pink lights.

The lights then gathered in one spot before they flew in the direction where the stairs they took up here were.

Aella had no idea what just happened, so she decided to just take another look around, but this time she looked in the direction where she could see the settlement, and Aella had to admit it looked amazing from this height. The settlement looked more magical from up here than down there.
