Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Alchemist Ordrishka

Chapter 41: Alchemist Ordrishka

After arriving at the Viscount’s residence, I promptly requested the services of an alchemist. An appointment for a meeting was secured two days later. Contemplating what gift to bring, I decided to create a purification magical tool.

The following day, as Carol seemed eager to go to the dungeon, I suggested they both go to the intermediate level, but Professor Kabaneru did not nod in agreement. It seemed he wanted to try out the new skills he had learned. With Landscape Lv4 for excavation and Lv5 for soil removal, wells could be dug in no time. Since the skills could evolve into creating pitfalls or launching aggressive earthquake attacks, it would be sufficient for agricultural purposes.

Two days later, I was swayed in the Viscount’s carriage, arriving at a small brick house on the outskirts of the capital within a forest. That was the workshop of the alchemist Ordrishka.

In my past life, alchemy was already a relic of the past. Transforming one element into another was an exceedingly challenging task, and especially with a medieval, almost occult approach, creating gold was impossible. In this world, the “tower” no longer had an alchemy department; it had been renamed to the Enchantment department, where research continued in a modest manner.

However, independent alchemists still pursued the transmutation of gold. They were eccentric individuals making a living from the field of enchantment while continuing their unique research. The alchemist Ordrishka, whom I was about to meet, was one such person, and she was also a forest-dwelling elf. My heart raced with excitement.

“Open up.”

Professor Kabaneru was about to knock, but a refreshing voice came from inside. Somehow, they both tagged along. Both the professor and Carol seemed quite free.

Upon glimpsing the scenery beyond the door, I felt an intense déjà vu. It was the Rotting Sea. The Rotting Sea stretched out before me.

“If you have business, make it quick. I am not free.”

It was a cluttered, garbage-filled place with no room to step. A voice emanated from the midst of the debris. As something rustled, a tousled head appeared. My excited heart rapidly withered, withering away with a sound.

“Urrica-san, long time no see. Are you well?”

“Oh, Urrica. This is Alexi, my talented disciple and a formidable adventurer.”

“Nice to meet you, Master Ordrishka. I am Alexi, studying under Professor Kabaneru. Thank you for your time today.”

“Skip the formalities. So, what brings you here today?”

“I haven’t heard from my messenger. He wants to bring in drop items from the dungeon.”

“…Ah, I vaguely remember something like that.”

The ragged clothes started moving. “Sit there,” I was told, but I had no idea where to sit. Declining the offer, I immediately used the purification magic tool I brought as a gift. It was a potent version created after the Mud Golem incident. Specifically, it wasn’t purification through life magic but equivalent to Water-Light attribute Cure Skill Lv7, an Area Cleanse. The accumulated dust and stubborn dirt were swept away, and the air became somewhat better. After moving books and items for about 10 minutes, I finally settled into the excavated chair, and the meeting began.

“That creation of yours is quite extraordinary.”

“I brought it as a gift for today. Please accept it.”

“He comes from a renowned store in Marol.”

Ordrishka, in her worn robe, held a compact-shaped magical tool and gleamed with excitement. Yeah, those peculiar folks of the “tower” love these kinds of toys. She undoubtedly belonged to the same category of creatures as them.
