Lord of Fire is a Gamer

F*cking Spirits…

Leaving Megumin's divine realm (I actually don't know what she calls it yet) was a hurdle. Mostly because the comfort I got there was heavenly. From food to small things like beds or couches were simply a grade above what I had seen from the mortal realm.

Thankfully though, she can access to her divine realm whenever she wants so good beds and amazing food will be with us until we get bored of it.

I secretly glance at her as she gives an excited and wide smile.

'Beds or a single bed?'

I liked her. But did I love her?

I got rid of those thoughts with a shake of my head. I have lots of time and absolutely no hurry. Actually, a long journey like this alone with her should let me clear up my thoughts.

Leaving the Crimson Demon Village was actually kind of harder than that.

I might not show it much but I'm kind of a lusty person. Since people here are very open minded I had lots of fun and rigirous exercises so leaving it kinda pains me but sometimes you gotta let it go.

'It was getting boring anyway.' I try to convince myself as I walk to Jee's place.

I'm not an asshole, of course I'm going to let him know that I'm leaving.

During our short walk to his house we got lots of looks, mainly because of Megumin. Actually, entirely because of Megumin.

Few people know of her appearance but there are still some geniuses who got to meet her once or twice so it was kind of hard to not notice when some random burly man screams in shock and gives a perfect 90 degree bow...

''Hey, can you change your appearance? Like some sort of spiritual body.'' I ask her after remembering some things from the other world.

If she could act like a heroic spirit from fate it would make lots of things easier.

''Like aging myself? Sure. I don't want to do it here in front of everyone though, you have to wait for it.'' She answered without missing a beat.

''That's cool but I was thinking of something like going invincible or getting rid of that body entirely.''

I realized how weird that sounded after she gave me a confused look.

''No, I can't do that. Why though?''

''Ehhh, just wanted to get rid of the unnecessary attention. It would be really convenient if you could just do that. It's cool though, don't worry about it.''

Our conversation comes to an end as we finally come to the doorstep of the old shit's house.

I don't bother knocking and just barge in as Megumin gasps at my disrespect.

''He wouldn't mind.'' I say shortly and continue inside as Megumin follows me.

''OLD MAN!'' I shout as I try to feel him.

Yep, feel.

I'm trying to learn how to heat sense, I think I'm getting close to grasping it.

I go up the floors with Megumin and finally reach to his room.

'Something is fishy... Old man is a really light sleeper, he would have said something by now.'

'He's not dead, is he?' I joke to myself. As if that asshole could die.

I glance at Megumin to see if she is fine and she gives me a nod. She knows something is up as well.

After readying myself for under a second, I open the door on guard.

Kurumi mostly minded her own business. There were some exceptions though, like when some guy suddenly changed the timeline drastically.

Kunyo.

'How intriguing.' She thought as she watched him train with his newly obtained sword and dagger.

Those were supposed to be buried and stay unknown for a few more millennia. Yet another thing he so casually changed. That was just some time ago but changed the timeline once again after that. She couldnt hold her curiousty anymore

She sensed him coming up the stairs as she sat down next to his teacher's corpse.

Old man was already pushing his limits, he probably saw the kid as a last achievement or something. Dying peacefully and fully satisfied after things like this was rare but not impossible.

He had a good and long life. She could lengthen his lifespan a little bit but she didn't care much about him, and he probably wouldn't want it anyway.

Just a few minutes ago she Death was just next to her, too bad Kunyo missed it.

Ah, Death. One of the few spirits who refused to take a name. Even her grey skinned friend was slightly intrigued by him but not enough to actually talk with him.

She threw her thoughts to the back of her head and put a smile on her face as Kunyo opened the door.

He silently stared down at her with a cold gaze as his companion looked at her curiously.

Seeing her motionless, they slowly turned their heads towards the corpse.

'Old man...' Kunyo looked at Kurumi once again.

'Did she kill him and wait for me to provoke me?' He was trying to make sense out of the situation.

Jee dying was a tragedy but he could mourn for him later. Right now there was an unidentified girl sitting next to him with a smile on her face.

He silently used Observe

'Sigh. Great.' She wasn't that stronger than me so I could still see her stats (Megumin's stats were mostly blurry) but I couldn't read her description. That would help a lot in her intentions but I will have to wing it for now.

''Are you going to talk anytime soon?''

My words came out a little bit rude but I didn't really know of her intentions and being overly polite when she might be threatening/provoking me is plain stupid.

She gave a little nod.

''I understand your loss and I was waiting for you to get over it. I'm sorry if I seemed rude.''

Look at her, how polite. She won't turn out to be that kind of villain right? She's not doing it to mess with me I hope.

''Thank you for your understanding but I want an explanation.''

She smiled at that and got up-

'SHIT!'

She moves at impossible speeds towards me. When I say impossible I mean it. She probably just went supersonic without breaking the sound barrier. That makes no sens- Oh.

She's probably using Time Magic to increase her speed.

I don't want to burn down the old man's house and possibly his dead body but he would understand it... I hope.

I ready myself to dodge or block whatever she wants to throw at me but she doesn't look like she will do anything like that.

Her hands, her legs, her body overall is relaxed as if taking a stroll.

'Arrogant bitch, keep acting like that.' I think with happiness. It's always nice when your enemy underestimates you and you beat the shit out of them.

She is way faster than me but my observe gives me very high reflexes so it's not hard to track her movements.

She appears behind me but I had already predicted that. My elbow slams into her nose as I hear a slight crackling noise.

'You think I won't kill you because you're cute? I learned the way of gender neutral hands from Kazuma.'

I watch in glee as her eyes widen in surprise and immediately tries to run away.

'Nope!'

Excalibur appears in my free hand and I quickly send my chi to light it up as my other hand tries to catch her before she runs away again.

Just as my hand touches her arm her speed doubles and quickly escapes from my grasp before even I can do anything.

'Did she just... Yeah. When our hands touched she slowed me down.'

I really doubt this is the full extent of her abilities as the spirit of time but again, the avatar world has a really low power level ceiling so it might be just that along with some support abilities like seeing the future or something.

If it's this much I can easily kill her, this was just the warm up although I didn't hold back anything. I tried to kill her swiftly before her arrogance would wear off, I used Excalibur because it was the best option at the time.

I've been using the sword a lot these days because I wanted to raise my skill level, maybe if I didn't use the sword and just blasted her from point blank range...

I shake off the useless thoughts. They're to be reviewed later.

'Huh?'

---

Kurumi shook her hands for peace.

'This wasn't supposed to be like this!'

Her plan wasn't perfect but it wasn't this bad.

She just wanted to impress him by suddenly appearing behind him.

'I mean, it's understandable that he would be a little bit violent, but come on!'

She glanced at the girl behind Kunyo.

From the start to finish she didn't move an inch, standing still like an unconcerned statue.

Yet, she was giving a very scary look.

Kurumi would sweat if she could.

'I can't even get a feel of how strong she is.'

The girl pointed at Kurumi and opened her mouth.

''Kunyo... you awakened something inside of her.'' She said with disgust.

'Huh?'

''No I didn't.'' Kunyo answered matter of factly.

''Ye-'' The girl was about to answer back but Kunyo cut her off again.

''No. I. Did. Not.''

''...''

'What are they talking about.'

''I know that look. That blush, how her legs shake. I've seen it before with my own eyes on one of my companions.''

''No you didn't.''

''Her name was Darkn-''

''Holy fuck Megumin shut up. I don't want to know.'' Kunyo snapped at her as she pouted.

''But-''

Kunyo sighed as his palm met his face. He chopped her head and whispered while taking secret glances at Kurumi. Glances and whispers Kurumi could perceive.

''Look, I think she hasn't even realized it yet so it's better to just shut up about it. Okay? Maybe it's a wrong alarm.''

They nodded at each other and turned back to her.

''Alright, what the fuck was that about?''
