Chapter 105: Magic Altar
Rosen took a significant amount of spiritual essence crystals from his scavenger space and began fusing them into the newly restored miracle statue.
Miracles have the property of eternal indestructibility, meaning that even if damaged, they will naturally self-repair over time. After absorbing 200,000 spiritual essence crystals, the miracle statue was fully restored to its pristine condition. Now, it featured a Mythril base and a golden dragon statue, with a silver-white flame glowing inside the dragon's mouth.
[Magic Altar: Miracle Building]
Level: Sequence 8
Miracle Attribute: The Magic Altar generates an endless supply of spatial mist.
Miracle Traits: Spatial Sacred Flame, Unique in the World, Eternal Indestructibility.
Thanks to the Main God Computer, Rosen could understand the true function of this miracle, something that would have been far more challenging without it.
Before becoming a miracle, this altar was originally a spatial defense mechanism for the magic tower. It released Sequence 5 spatial magic known as Spatial Mist, which caused intruders to lose their sense of direction, making it difficult for them to find the tower.
After its transformation into a miracle, the Spatial Mist underwent a significant upgrade. Now, it not only disoriented intruders but could also project into the depths of the spiritual realm, creating stable spatial tunnels between the mist and the altar.
While the Spatial Tunnels seemed like a powerful ability, it was risky for Rosen to utilize them at this point. The deep layers of the spiritual realm contained unknown dangers. Opening a tunnel to a high-level spiritual creature's domain could lead to disaster. However, once Rosen became stronger, this feature would prove useful for exploration and resource acquisition.
For now, the Spatial Mist's defensive abilities would be invaluable to protect Rosen's Divine Domain from outside threats.
What intrigued Rosen the most, though, was the Spatial Sacred Flame. As the altar's owner, Rosen's spiritual essence would naturally gain spatial and fire attributes. He could wield the Spatial Sacred Flame, a flame with the ability to disintegrate space itself. Unlike traditional flames, it didn't produce extreme heat but instead tore apart space, making it nearly impossible for enemies to defend against unless they had specialized spatial defenses.
Rosen cautiously conjured a thin layer of the Spatial Sacred Flame on his fingertip and touched a ceramic cup. The spot where his finger made contact disintegrated into dust, leaving a small hole. Even the water inside the cup began to break down into mist upon contact with the flame.
This was just the basic power of the Spatial Sacred Flame. With practice, Rosen knew he could refine his control to the molecular level, eventually disintegrating substances into their atomic components, like oxygen and hydrogen from water.
Over the next few days, Rosen devoted his time to mastering the Spatial Sacred Flame and experimenting with its capabilities.
However, as the Mechanical Spirit Islands' spiritual realm began to close, Rosen reluctantly set aside his experiments. He had already eliminated most of the mechanical spirit weapons on the island, except for the mysterious ceramic pot and other high-level enemies. Venturing to other islands would be far too dangerous, so Rosen decided to leave while he was ahead.
Upon returning to Sea Dragon City, Rosen checked the marketplace for extraordinary buildings to further enhance his Divine Domain.
During his search, he discovered a troop-producing building that piqued his interest.
Typically, troop-producing buildings were highly coveted by noble lords because they could produce extraordinary creatures with consistent genetic makeups. However, the limitation was that these troops often lacked souls. Even the World Government struggled to perfectly clone souls for these troops. As a result, many such troops were essentially living puppets with artificial souls or even no souls at all.
What Rosen found was an exception: a high-quality slime-producing building. While slimes were simple to reproduce and easy to maintain, making them an unpopular choice for troop production, this Slime Nest was capable of creating perfectly souled slimes.
Rosen understood the potential here. As he progressed with his Beast Tamer system, he would need a large number of high-sequence slimes to enhance his power.
Although slimes were common across human territories, high-sequence slimes were incredibly rare. For Rosen to advance in his Beast Tamer path, he needed a way to breed his own high-level slimes. After some thought, Rosen spent 600,000 spiritual essence crystals to purchase the Slime Nest.
Once the Slime Nest was delivered, Rosen immediately applied the Mechanical Spirit Transformation skill to it, bringing the building up to extraordinary standards.
After the transformation was complete, Rosen checked the status of his Divine Domain using the Main God Computer:
[Divine Domain: Sequence 8]
Territory Size: 3,400 meters in radius.
Lord's Rights: Bloodline Glory, Scholarly Knowledge.
Territory Traits: Divine Domain Lord, Glory Vault, Divine Mimicry, Source of Life, Sequence Seed.
Territory Buildings: Sequence 8 Magic Altar, Sequence 9 Alchemical Castle, Sequence 9 Slime Nest, Sequence 9 Glorious Lighthouse, Sequence 9 Divine Scavenger Warehouse, Sequence 9 Divine Beast Pen.
Residents: None.
Territory Troops: Shadow Cats, Slimes.
Extraordinary Artifact: Sequence 8 Endless Water Jug.
Seeing "Residents: None" made Rosen uneasy. Without residents, his Divine Domain wouldn't be able to grow or sustain itself properly. Furthermore, the Shadow Cats listed under his troops were just basic creatures that provided little value in the grand scheme of things.
It became clear to Rosen that he needed to find residents for his domain—any kind of residents would do.
Rosen had also stockpiled materials for crafting Shadow Cat sequence potions, but there was no one available to drink them. It was evident that acquiring residents was becoming an urgent priority.
After spending time in the Blue Whale Kingdom, Rosen understood the darker side of being a Divine Domain Lord. While the World Government officially prohibited slavery, there were loopholes in the system that allowed nobles to circumvent the law.
Subhumans, a mix of human and non-human species, were a common sight in the underground world. Although not recognized as full humans by the World Government, they weren't openly sold as slaves either. However, through the black market, it wasn't difficult for nobles to purchase subhumans and bring them into their domains.
After searching through the guild's bounty system, Rosen discovered that the Blue Whale Kingdom's black market was even more elaborate than he had expected.
It existed within a spiritual realm completely controlled by human transcendents. By using a black market ticket, one could teleport there from any professional guild within Blue Whale Guild City.
Rosen quickly purchased a black market ticket from the marketplace.
The fact that such tickets were openly sold demonstrated just how much of a farce the official laws really were.
