Chapter 104: Miracle Statue
Rosen sensed the new loot orbs in his scavenger space, but instead of immediately checking his rewards, he paused to reflect on his recent battle with the alchemical golem.
Though victorious, the win felt heavily influenced by luck.
Had the alchemical golem not underestimated the Nightmare Slime's stomach acid spiral attack, or if it had dodged instead of charging forward, it might have broken into the Alchemical Castle, wreaking havoc. Even if Rosen eventually defeated it, the castle would have needed extensive repairs.
After a moment of reflection, Rosen eagerly broke open the loot orb, curious about his spoils.
Unexpectedly, there were two items inside.
The first was another Mechanical Spirit Transformation skill crystal, identical to the two he had acquired earlier. Rosen felt a bit disappointed at the redundancy, but the second item quickly reignited his excitement.
It was a Sequence 6 extraordinary artifact: the Lightning Elemental Furnace. This powerful item could be integrated into a building, significantly enhancing its defensive capabilities.
If Rosen fused it with the Alchemical Castle, it would upgrade the Elemental Barrier to Sequence 6 both in defense and energy capacity. Moreover, it would add a lightning counterattack feature to the barrier, electrifying any enemies who dared to attack it.
However, after careful analysis using the Main God Computer, Rosen realized the Lightning Elemental Furnace could be put to better use in his Void Gallery.
The Void Gallery, built from cloned versions of Rosen's bones and skin, had the ability to grow and transform. Its Maze could reconfigure itself, and the Bone and Flesh Furnace absorbed energy to enhance the gallery's defenses.
Rosen had once thought about incorporating his Gluttony ability, which created a powerful stomach acid, into the Void Gallery's water maze. The acid would dissolve enemies caught within it. However, the corrosive nature of the acid posed a risk to the gallery itself, as the bone and skin walls were vulnerable to decay.
But now, with the Lightning Elemental Furnace, the gallery could gain lightning attributes that would reinforce the maze against the acid's corrosive effects. The lightning would also charge the water, making the environment even deadlier for intruders. On top of that, the lightning would no longer require an external power source—it would become a natural function of the gallery itself.
Once the Lightning Elemental Furnace was fused with the gallery, its attributes significantly improved, gaining a new feature: Elemental Resistance, which worked in harmony with the Bone and Flesh Furnace to give the gallery more endurance in battle.
Satisfied with this development, Rosen picked up the Mechanical Spirit Transformation skill crystal and used his Main God Computer to extract divine energy from a semi-divine artifact he had stored.
With the transformation complete, Rosen began contemplating the third building to enhance.
This time, he aimed to transform a pure defensive structure. While the Alchemical Castle had defensive capabilities, it wasn't designed solely for defense. In situations like the recent battle, where he had to trap and crush enemies like the alchemical golem, having an additional layer of defense would allow him to keep future threats from ever reaching the castle.
With the alchemical golem now defeated, the lower half of the gourd-shaped island was relatively safe. Rosen sent his doppelgänger ahead using Shadow Step to scout out the golem's lair.
The golem's home turned out to be a ruined magic tower.
Magic towers were built before humanity developed the Wizard Sequence. Back then, humans followed an older Magic Sequence, which had fallen out of use. These towers served to amplify spellcasting, provide defensive capabilities, and house research laboratories.
The alchemical golem was likely created in this very tower, meaning there could be valuable treasures hidden within its ruins.
As Rosen exterminated the remaining mechanical spirit weapons around the magic tower using his Void Gallery, Grey Rat scurried inside to search for valuables.
It didn't take long for Grey Rat to return with good news.
The magic tower had multiple extraordinary functions: boosting magic power, providing defense, and serving as a secure facility for magical research. Grey Rat led Rosen to the third floor, where they discovered a particularly intriguing statue.
The statue had a silver-white metal base supporting a golden dragon figure, standing upright. Oddly, the mouth of the dragon had been pierced, and the attack had destroyed the entire third floor of the tower.
Despite the damage to the tower, the statue itself was only slightly damaged inside the dragon's mouth.
Clearly, the statue's material was far more resilient than the rest of the tower.
"This is a miracle! It's related to space!" Grey Rat exclaimed, jumping around excitedly.
"A miracle?" Rosen asked, somewhat skeptical as he looked at the damaged statue.
Miracles were rare occurrences in the extraordinary world. Anything could become a miracle—buildings, people, even extraordinary creatures—but miracles were defined by their uniqueness and their indestructibility.
Though Rosen had read about miracles in countless novels, he had never encountered one in reality. Spiritual realms in human civilization were essentially miracles in progress. If a lost civilization in a spiritual realm ascended to greater heights, they could become full-fledged miracles.
However, it seemed unlikely that this statue could be a miracle.
Why hadn't the previous noble hunters, who had surely visited this island before, taken it? The only explanation was that the statue had only recently become a miracle.
With growing excitement, Rosen stored the statue and immediately had it analyzed by his Main God Computer.
To his surprise, the computer confirmed that the statue was indeed a newly born miracle. It even deduced the cause of its transformation.
Miracles, as extraordinary as they seemed, followed certain rules. This miracle was born from Rosen's battle with the alchemical golem.
It had been a moment where everything aligned perfectly—an improbable victory that defied the odds.
If Rosen hadn't become a divine domain lord, acquired the Glorious Lighthouse, or defeated the alchemical golem, this miracle statue would never have formed.
In spiritual realms, creatures didn't fight to the death. When faced with unfavorable conditions, they would flee. The hardest part of the battle wasn't defeating the golem, but preventing its escape.
Rosen's extraordinary feat had resulted in the birth of this miracle statue.
Of course, such events had a less than 1% chance of producing a miracle item, making them incredibly rare and valuable.
