Chapter 116: Scanning and Digitization
"Is this Void Phantom Eye dead?" Rosen asked, disappointed as he examined the eye-like creature in his hand.
"If the Void Phantom Eye were still alive, you wouldn't be able to control it," Gray Mouse shook his head. "Once a Void Phantom Eye's offspring leaves its parent, it dies immediately. This one hasn't been dead for long. You can either fuse it with your Hunter Magic Eye, or use your Devour ability to enhance your own eye."
After some consideration, Rosen decided to use his Devour ability.
While fusing it with his Hunter God's Eye was a tempting option, Rosen had a different plan. He decided to devour the Void Phantom Eye offspring, concentrating the power into one of his own eyes, leaving the other eye for future fusion with the Hunter God's Eye. This way, both eyes would undergo different enhancements, bringing double the benefits.
Without a sound, Rosen seamlessly switched places with his self-portrait clone in reality. Eager to begin, he summoned his Devour Beast, feeding it the Void Phantom Eye offspring and initiating the digestion process.
Almost immediately, Rosen felt a surge of power flowing into his eyes, but under his control, all the energy was channeled into his left eye, slowly transforming it to match the innate abilities of the Void Phantom Eye.
The Void Phantom Eye was an extreme lifeform, possessing only one natural talent—the ability to create virtual realms.
Space, in all its forms, is governed by both spirit and matter. The real world prioritizes material over spirit, while the spirit realms (such as spirit landscapes or the spirit world) prioritize spirit over matter. However, the virtual world is purely a material world, composed entirely of endless data and information. The more data and information it can store, the larger and stronger the virtual realm becomes.
Most of the virtual worlds in the human realm were constructed using the corpses of Void Phantom Eyes. The Blue Whale Kingdom was likely attempting to gain control of the body of a demi-god-level Void Phantom Eye to create its own virtual world.
While Devour allowed Rosen to gain some of the essence of what he consumed, it would only provide him with a fraction of the full power. Therefore, he wasn't sure if his left eye would be capable of creating a virtual realm, but at the very least, he hoped to gain a virtual realm seed—a starting point that could eventually grow into something more powerful.
Just then, Rosen's eyes flickered, and he saw the interface of the Main God Computer flash before him. Streams of data and information began flowing into the virtual realm seed within his left eye.
In mere minutes, the virtual realm seed underwent a profound transformation. Rosen could sense a vast virtual world, spanning 1,900 kilometers, now hidden deep within his left eye. This world, infused with the data and information from the Main God Computer, granted him two special abilities:
Scan: His left eye could now scan and replicate any non-spiritual object into the virtual realm.Virtual Domain Expansion: He could expand a 1900-meter radius virtual domain around himself, continuously consuming spiritual energy to digitize everything within it.
Within this virtual domain, Rosen could interact with the data of the world around him, infiltrating most of the virtual worlds in existence. He could even digitize his own life into a health bar, ensuring that as long as his health bar didn't reach zero, he would be immune to critical hits.
This was just the beginning—the virtual realm was still at Sequence 8, but as it grew stronger, it could potentially allow Rosen to digitize the life force of his enemies as well.
The possibilities for this ability were endless, and much of its potential remained to be explored and developed.
"Virtual Vision," Rosen murmured, satisfied with his new ability as he deactivated the skill. His black-and-silver eyes returned to their normal black-and-white appearance.
It seemed the Main God Computer was particularly fond of his new left eye.
While Rosen continued experimenting with the applications of the virtual realm inside his Divine Domain, his self-portrait clone in reality also got to work. Like the other extraordinary individuals recovering from the Ghost Black Sea ordeal, the clone checked into a hotel in Blue Whale Royal City.
The news on television featured the King of Blue Whale Kingdom, honoring the fallen from the Ghost Black Sea with a tribute to the hundreds of victims. Had Rosen not known the truth, he might have believed the compassionate display from the elderly king. But now, he knew the king was the true mastermind behind it all.
As Rosen split his attention between his clone and himself, he soon drifted off into a deep sleep—his first real rest in many days.
Two days later, fully refreshed, Rosen recalled his self-portrait clone and left the hotel.
In the sky above the royal city, a floating island had been transformed into a bustling marketplace, teeming with people and stalls.
For days, extraordinary individuals had hunted sea beasts, accumulating more wealth than they could possibly use on their own. The Blue Whale Royal City's trading market would last for half a month, giving everyone ample opportunity to trade their excess for much-needed resources.
Though transactions could be made remotely via the Blue Whale Guild's trade system, the experience of in-person trading was far more engaging. The bustling atmosphere, the opportunity to haggle, and the chance to test one's sharp eye for valuable goods all made for a lively marketplace.
Every hotel in the city had short-range teleportation gates set up by the wizard sequence. Rosen stepped into one and was immediately transported to the floating island marketplace.
Instead of diving directly into trades, he took a moment to stand at the edge of the island, looking down at the royal city below. Apart from a few places obscured by barriers, most of the city and its people were clearly visible.
Curious, Rosen activated his Scan ability using his Virtual Vision, and soon, a fragmented virtual replica of the royal city began to appear in his virtual world. Any object with spiritual energy was left out of the scan, while everything else was replicated.
At the moment, he wasn't sure what practical use this scanning ability would serve, but he quickly noticed a secondary function: since his virtual realm couldn't scan anything spiritual, he could use the scan to identify spiritual objects. Anything that didn't appear in the scan was likely of spiritual significance—perhaps even valuable artifacts.
Eager to put this ability to use, Rosen entered the trading market, ready to sell off his unused materials.
While he had collected hundreds of loot spheres from killing extraordinary sea beasts, many of the intact beast corpses were left behind. He had kept the edible sea beasts for himself, but some were unsuitable for human consumption and even refused by the creatures in his Divine Beast Pen.
He knew these would fetch a good price from the right buyers.
After a full day of trading, Rosen had finally cleared out all the items he didn't need.
Among the 50 domain troops, led by Chrollo, they had slain nearly a thousand Sequence 9 to Sequence 8 sea beasts. Their combined earnings totaled 1.6 million spirit crystals, dozens of skill crystals, and over a dozen extraordinary artifacts of Sequence 9 and Sequence 8.
Rosen himself had hunted over a hundred Sequence 7 sea beasts, earning 5 million spirit crystals, numerous skill crystals, and a few Sequence 7 extraordinary artifacts. In total, his harvest from the Ghost Black Sea was worth over 10 million spirit crystals.
This was by far the largest gain Rosen had ever made, solidifying his resolve to continue developing his Divine Domain.
