Married For Now

Chapter 8: FIRST THINGS FIRST

WHEW.

After waking up, Sohee took a long and nice bath first.

It was weird to wear new underwear and a set of fresh clothes from a famous clothing brand, but he wasn't complaining. The nice sweater and a pair of pants that he got were very comfortable.

Plus, you can't see the label so they don't look tacky.

Come to think of it…

Sohee blatantly stared at Kim Heedo who was sitting across from him.

Kim Heedo doesn't wear popular brands, but his clothes look nice. Is it because anything will look good on someone like him? He's not flashy, but anyone can tell this kid is rich.

There was a term for rich people keeping a low profile while maintaining their elegance.

Quiet luxury, isn't it?

"Hyung, are you listening?" Kim Heedo asked awkwardly. "Are you tired?"

"No," Sohee said while shaking his head. "I'm just appreciating the nice view."

The view wasn't really that nice.

After all, the shrine was at the foot of a mountain.

Hence, all they could see around them were trees, plants, and more trees.

Nature is nice, and the air here is cleaner than the air in the city.

"I'm glad that you're doing well, Hyung," Kim Heedo said while they were having tea on the balcony of his room. "Fortunately, your vital organ wasn't hit when you stabbed yourself. You're recovering well, but it doesn't hurt to be extra careful."

Sohee didn't want to admit this, but he was glad that he didn't hit a vital organ.

That means my womb is safe.

"Why did you bring me here, Kim Heedo?"

"The esteemed shaman called and said we'd recover here faster."

Oh, right.

I'm not the only one who got hurt.

"It seems like my grandfather's curse is pretty strong," Sohee commented while looking at Kim Heedo's cast. "I'm glad my golden goose survived."

"Hyung, do you realize that you've called me 'golden goose' twice now?"

"Oh, are you offended?"

"I won't be if you allow me to call you my 'ghost wife.'"

"Yah," Sohee complained lightly. "We aren't married yet and you already want me dead."

Kim Heedo chuckled while shaking his head. "No, it's not like that, Hyung. But you know what? Knowing my grandfather, I'm sure he would have forced me to enter a ghost marriage with you if Hyung died on me."

"Absolutely. So, you should be grateful that I have a strong resolve to live."

Kim Heedo bowed to him politely. "Thank you for being alive, Hyung."

Pfft.

Why am I having a silly conversation with this kid?

"Hyung, I'm really sorry that I was late," Kim Heedo said in a serious tone. "I know this won't erase your trauma, but I want you to know that my bodyguard beat up Jin Taejoon until that bastard was half-dead. And I promise you— Jin Taejoon will never approach you again."

Sohee clenched his hands tight.

The seriousness in Kim Heedo's eyes actually made him feel safe.

I believe this kid.

"Hyung, if you want to sue Jin Taejoon, I'll help you."

"I actually want him to die the most painful way."

"It might take long since Jin Taejoon's family is a big shot in the underworld, but I'll do my best."

Pfft.

This kid is serious.

"How can I ask my golden goose to kill a person? I'm sorry, I was thoughtless," Sohee said, taking back his request. "I'm not going to sue since you already took care of the problem. But if Jin Taejoon tries to hurt me again, will you help me kill him?"

"Sure, Hyung."

Pfft.

"So, we're getting married today?"

"Yes, Hyung," Kim Heedo said, pausing for a moment. "We'll just sign the marriage certificate in front of the esteemed shaman, and then we'll have dinner with my family."

"Uh-huh."

"Your father is also here, Hyung."

"Huh?"

"My father found and brought him here so that he wouldn't cause trouble again."

"Don't invite my father to dinner, but I want to talk to him in private later. Would that be possible?"

"Of course, Hyung."

"Thank you."

"Should we discuss our contract?"

"Yes, let's do it now," Sohee said, nodding quite eagerly. "What will I get after I marry you, Kim Heedo?"

"One house in Gangnam, one penthouse in Cheongdam-dong, one villa in any country of your choice."

"Huh?"

"It's too early to be shocked, Hyung," Kim Heedo teased him. "You'll also get one building in Seoul, three cars of your choice, and a monthly allowance of one hundred million won."

"One hundred million won? Monthly?!"

"Hyung, one hundred million won isn't that much. I actually feel bad for you since Eomma and Abeoji said I can't give you my Black Card."

Black Card?

The credit card without spending limit?

"Your parents are right— giving me a Black Card is too much," Sohee said, holding his stomach because he was starting to feel queasy. "It's starting to sink in that I'm marrying a chaebol."

"All the houses you own come with their own household staff members. Moreover, my family will pay for everything— your groceries, bills, maintenance fees, etc. You just have to choose where you want to live."

"Wow. I'm set for life, am I not?"

"Yes, and even if we end up divorced, my financial support will carry on."

"Really? Then I don't need to work…"

"Well, you're already a landlord. The building I mentioned before will be put under your name, Hyung. So, you'll just have to collect the rent of the tenants there."

"Oh my god," Sohee gasped, covering his mouth with his hands. "You're right— I'm now a landlord."

"Hyung, if you still want to work, we will help you land a job in one of our affiliate companies."

That would be nice.

But if I'm going to work, I want to do my best.

Unfortunately, Sohee was only a high school graduate.

"What if I want to attend a university?"

"We will help you, Hyung."

Wow.

I'm really winning in life now.

"Do I just really have to marry you? Tell me already if there's a catch."

"Well, my grandfather wants a great-grandson," Kim Heedo said, avoiding Sohee's gaze. "According to the shaman, if I conceive a child with you, the luck of our family will get replenished for at least fifty years."

Oh, right.

I remember Chairman Kang saying something like that five years ago.

"I'm not against the idea," Sohee said calmly. "But I won't force you to have a child with me, Kim Heedo."

Kim Heedo looked at him with a curious look on his face. "You want a child, Hyung?"

"Now that I'm financially free, yes. But, of course, I won't use the child to tie you to this marriage, Kim Heedo. You're still allowed to divorce me as long as you pay the alimony."

"Then I'll think about having a child with you…"

"Does it mean you're open to sleeping with me?"

Kim Heedo's face turned red as if he was embarrassed. "Hyung, do you see me that way?" he asked awkwardly, covering his body with his arms. "You want my body all along?"

"How am I supposed to get pregnant if I don't sleep with you?" Sohee asked while shaking his head. "Anyway, there's another reason why I'm bringing this up."

"What is it then?"

"I had a sexual relationship with my ex-boyfriend."

Yes, I was in a relationship a year ago.

Sohee was forced to break up with his ex-boyfriend when Jin Taejoon started bothering him about his father's debts.

I didn't want to drag my ex-boyfriend into my mess.

"Kim Heedo, you're not a virgin, are you?"

"Far from that, Hyung."

"Then, if we're going to sleep with each other in the future, I'd like to request that we get tested first for STDs. After all, we've both had sexual relationships with other people in the past," Sohee said carefully. "Let's practice safe sex, Kim Heedo. I'm not putting my life at risk just to get some dick."

Kim Heedo blinked as if he was confused, and then he burst out laughing. "Hyung, I admire your will to live— you're the type of person who'd survive a zombie apocalypse."

"Then do you want to be my zombie apocalypse partner?"

"Sure, that sounds fun."

Sohee smiled, and then he extended his hand to Kim Heedo. "I'm in your care now, my precious Golden Goose."

"Yes, I'll take care of you," Kim Heedo said, shaking Sohee's hand. "My feisty Ghost Wife."
