Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Gradual Transformation

Han Yu didn't immediately respond to Zhao Wuji. Instead, he turned to Erina, seeking her opinion.

The most Han Yu could do was secure this opportunity for her. Whether she chose to accept it was entirely up to her.

Erina pondered for a moment before nodding. "I don't mind, but I'd like to consult my grandfather first."

"That's fair. It's a good idea to inform him," Han Yu agreed.

With that, Han Yu handed Zhao Wuji a jade pendant and said, "Consider this as Erina's tuition fee. If you find yourselves short of funds during training, feel free to use what's inside."

Zhao Wuji reached out to take the jade pendant and found it resting quietly in his palm.

Curious, he focused his thoughts to explore the pendant's inner space. Initially, he was disappointed—it didn't seem as large as Han Yu had claimed, appearing to be no more than two cubic meters.

"Boasting this much? He said a thousand cubic meters…" Zhao Wuji muttered, about to exit the space.

But something caught his eye. Squinting, he examined the walls more closely and suddenly froze in shock.

These weren't walls—they were stacks of gold coins!

Han Yu had claimed the pendant held a thousand cubic meters, and now only one or two cubic meters remained. That meant it had originally contained nearly a thousand cubic meters of gold coins!

"You—" Zhao Wuji stammered, pointing at the jade pendant, unable to find the words. The sheer amount of wealth was staggering, making his scalp tingle.

"Just keep it. If it's not enough, let Erina know, and she can ask me for more," Han Yu said with a smile.

"Not enough? That's impossible…" Zhao Wuji was so overwhelmed he could barely speak. Even using just 10% of this wealth would be enough to renovate Shrek Academy completely and significantly improve their living conditions.

Han Yu turned to Erina with a grin. "Let's head back. You can pack up, and in a few days, you can report to the academy."

Erina nodded but couldn't help asking how much money Han Yu had given them. He didn't disclose the amount, merely calling it a "small sum." But judging by Zhao Wuji's reaction, it was anything but small.

"Thank you. I won't let your kindness go to waste," Erina murmured softly, barely loud enough for herself to hear.

"What did you say? Hurry up, or we'll leave you behind!"

Han Yu, already some distance ahead, called out to her when he noticed she was still standing there in a daze.

"I'm coming!"

A bright and radiant smile lit up Erina's face as she hurried to catch up with Han Yu. The group then departed together.

After Han Yu and his companions left, the Shrek Seven Devils learned the actual amount contained within the jade pendant. Their astonished expressions said it all—the sum was mind-boggling!

"Well, we really hit the jackpot this time."

Han Yu's group didn't return to the small town they had previously stayed in. The purpose of this trip to the Spirit Beast Continent had been to find a spirit ring for Erina. Now that they had achieved that goal, there was no need to linger. They left this world directly through a spatial gate.

Back at the familiar miscellaneous goods shop, the sight of the furniture brought a sense of comfort. Stretching lazily, Han Yu felt a warm sense of homecoming.

"I'll head back now and talk to my grandfather," Erina said.

"Alright, just don't recklessly use spirit power in your world. Here, take this scroll. Once your grandfather agrees, opening it will create a portal to Shrek Academy."

Han Yu handed Erina a teleportation scroll. After bidding farewell to Xiao Yan and Ace, and watching them leave, Han Yu raced upstairs.

At the door to the gaming room, he could already hear Ultron and the others calling out to him.

"Pietro, stop being greedy for that money! Run, the police have us surrounded!"

Wanda shouted anxiously. In the game, two characters had already gotten into the car, but a small blue dot on the mini-map was still moving aimlessly, as if window-shopping.

Their surroundings were filled with numerous red dots—the symbols of the police.

"Almost there! This is money; we can't just leave it! Damn it, can't you move any faster? Is this your first day with legs?"

Pietro, clearly more panicked, kept picking up the scattered money dropped during his character's sprinting. His words made Han Yu burst into laughter as he leaned closer to watch. The character Pietro controlled in the game was already running at an impressive speed.

In the game, character stats increased based on player behavior. For example, those who enjoyed shooting and frequently fired randomly would see their shooting accuracy improve. Similarly, those who preferred running over driving would see their running speed increase.

Under Han Yu's deliberate modifications, the game's character stats had been maxed out to match the physical capabilities of someone like Captain America in real life.

Normally, such peak physical stats couldn't be achieved through simple gameplay—players would need to complete specific tasks or use special items available in the game.

Currently, Pietro's game character had reached a speed stat of six out of the maximum ten points, far surpassing most players. But Pietro's point of comparison was himself. What nonsense was this? Even if the game character's speed stat was maxed out, it would still be no match for his real-life super speed!

"You think everyone has your kind of super speed? Honestly, I think today's the first day you've used your brain! Get in the car already—I seriously don't want to redo this mission because of you!"

Ultron snapped angrily, even kicking the chair next to Pietro as he spoke. For Ultron to be this frustrated, it was clear they had failed this mission multiple times before, as his words suggested.

They had indeed attempted this mission several times, and every single failure was due to Pietro.

Han Yu couldn't hold back his laughter. One person said, "First day with legs," while another retorted, "First day with a brain." Did playing games automatically turn everyone into trash talkers?

Just as Ultron finished his tirade, Pietro's game character was shot. The screens of all three players turned black and white.

Pietro's screen displayed the message: "You were killed."

Meanwhile, Wanda and Ultron's screens showed: "Your partner was killed."

Seeing the game over screen, Wanda and Ultron stood up in unison, exchanged a glance, and nodded in silent agreement.

Ultron stepped forward and grabbed Pietro by the arms, while Wanda used her chaos magic to keep him from resisting.

Together, they hauled Pietro into the spacious storage room. Less than five minutes later, they returned. Wanda and Ultron both looked refreshed and at ease, even greeting Han Yu casually as they passed by.

"Wow, who's this guy?"

Han Yu was startled. The person who followed them back had a face so swollen it was impossible to recognize him.
