Marvel: Beginning with the Collection of Shinra Tensei

Chapter 77: Chapter 77: Still Accepting Members?

Although it was Erina's first battle, she showed little panic. She calmly stepped back a few paces, her eyes shining with a striking golden light.

Suddenly, sharp cries echoed through the air, and a few figures descended from the sky, charging straight at Meng Yiran. They were two golden eagles radiating brilliant light.

Caught off guard, Meng Yiran couldn't react in time and was forcefully struck by the eagles, sending her flying backward. She landed heavily on her knees, coughing up a mouthful of blood.

"Where did these eagles come from? What kind of spirit is this? First silver blades, now eagles... wasn't it supposed to be a Six-Winged Angel?" Meng Yiran asked, her breath uneven.

"It is the Six-Winged Angel," Erina replied with a faint smile. "From the beginning, you've been caught in my trap."

It was only then that Meng Yiran noticed everyone around them had vanished—only she and Erina remained. Even her grandmother and Zhao Wuji were nowhere to be seen!

Seeing Meng Yiran's shocked expression, Erina waved her hand. In that instant, the surroundings began to shift. The seemingly unchanged environment turned into layers of white mist, which slowly dissipated, revealing Snake Granny, Zhao Wuji, Han Yu, and the others, who now appeared in her view.

Meng Yiran, however, remained frozen in place, gripping her snake-headed staff without moving. Erina stood before her with a calm smile, while behind Erina, a radiant golden figure emerged—the legendary spirit, the Six-Winged Angel.

The angel's body glowed brilliantly, and a mesmerizing purple ring circled around it.

"Her first spirit ring... it's a millennium ring?"

Meng Yiran's stunned voice broke the silence, but before she could say more, her body weakened, and she collapsed to the ground, coughing violently.

Snake Granny immediately rushed to her side, supporting her and checking her condition.

"Grandma, what just happened to me?" Meng Yiran asked, confused.

"You were caught in her skill," Snake Granny explained. "As soon as her spirit appeared, her spirit ring activated, and you froze in place. If it weren't for that boy warning me that this was only a non-lethal technique, I might have thought you were struck by a hidden weapon."

"I fell into her illusion from the very beginning?" Meng Yiran murmured, stunned. This meant she had already lost. If the two were at the same level and fought to the death, she wouldn't have stood a chance.

Erina withdrew her radiant Six-Winged Angel spirit and returned to Han Yu's side, recounting what had occurred within the illusion.

"Amazing! This golden-haired girl's first spirit skill is an illusion-type ability. It's a good thing it wasn't aimed at us. Otherwise, with our strength, we might not have been able to react in time," Tang San remarked with admiration. The purple light in his eyes slowly faded; he had used his Purple Demon Eyes to observe the fight from the start.

He noticed the subtle expressions on Meng Yiran's face—although her body didn't move, her expression betrayed her emotions. There was only one explanation: she was caught in an illusion.

"Judging by Meng Yiran's reaction, Nakiri Erina must have only recently obtained this spirit ring. She hasn't fully mastered its skill yet, but even so, the damage caused within the illusion is nothing to scoff at," Zhao Wuji commented, smacking his lips.

His gaze lingered on Erina, moving up and down as he thought to himself, If someone like her could join Shrek Academy, she'd undoubtedly be a 'little monster' on par with Tang San and the others.

Han Yu noticed Zhao Wuji's gaze and sharply turned toward him, his eyes filled with a piercing warning. Zhao Wuji awkwardly laughed and quickly averted his gaze, embarrassed to have been caught.

Han Yu's expression grew contemplative. From Erina's description, the silver blades and golden eagles she conjured in the illusion were products of her imagination, manifested into reality within the illusion.

"I need to find her a place where she can properly learn about spirits. I definitely don't have the time to watch over her constantly. If she stays with me, her growth will be far too slow," Han Yu mused, stroking his chin.

His gaze suddenly landed on Zhao Wuji, and his expression turned peculiar.

Noticing Han Yu's look, Zhao Wuji's face twitched unnaturally. That kind of stare didn't seem to promise anything good.

Sure enough, just as Zhao Wuji began to suspect, Han Yu started walking toward him.

"Does your Shrek Academy still accept new students? I want her to join and study there."

This sudden declaration stunned everyone present. Let Erina enroll in Shrek Academy?

Han Yu's abrupt decision left Erina feeling a bit disgruntled. Although she had a favorable impression of Han Yu, it wasn't enough for him to decide her future without consulting her.

"Why are you making decisions for me? I don't want to go to some Shrek Academy," she protested.

Sensing Erina's displeasure, Han Yu's expression remained calm. Instead, he smiled and explained, "Shrek Academy is, to my knowledge, the best academy on this continent. I believe you'll learn a lot there. At the very least, you won't lack guidance in becoming a Spirit Master. In this field, I don't have much expertise."

Hearing Han Yu's words, Zhao Wuji and his companions were momentarily stunned, followed by a wave of surprise. From the start, their relationship with Han Yu hadn't been harmonious—Ma Hongjun had attacked Han Yu after taking a liking to Erina, only to be easily defeated.

Given this history, they hadn't expected Han Yu to have a favorable impression of them, let alone give Shrek Academy such high praise. His words were truly shocking.

Erina fell silent. She remembered the stories Tang San had shared about his past. Although she didn't know his childhood companions in detail, she was familiar with their names and their accomplishments.

She envied the camaraderie Tang San shared with his friends and longed for similar bonds. Given the achievements of Tang San and his companions, Han Yu's suggestion to study alongside them might not be a bad idea after all.

"You can take some time to think about it," Han Yu said to Erina before turning to Zhao Wuji. His tone, however, was far less polite as he addressed him, "But you don't get to think it over. I need an answer now. Your Shrek Academy claims to 'only accept monsters, not ordinary people.' I trust my friend's qualifications are more than sufficient to join, aren't they?"

Zhao Wuji was at a loss for words. More than sufficient? Her qualifications far exceeded the requirements. Even the most gifted Spirit Masters usually had a first spirit ring of no more than 423 years, staying within the maximum they could absorb.

But Erina's spirit was a top-tier Six-Winged Angel, and her first spirit ring was a millennium-level purple ring. None of Tang San's group had achieved anything close to that.

"Are you sure about this? Do you really want her to join? Shrek's training methods aren't something ordinary people can handle," Zhao Wuji asked cautiously.

A talent like Erina would undoubtedly bring pride to Shrek Academy. However, Zhao Wuji felt the need to clarify. Erina appeared to be a pampered young lady, and Tang San's teacher, the Grandmaster, was notoriously "extreme." His training methods were grueling, and not everyone could endure them.
