Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Wanda and Quicksilver

As Han Yu pondered, he suddenly felt someone's gaze fixed on him. Turning his head, he realized it was Kingpin staring at him.

Recalling Kingpin's earlier remarks, Han Yu chose not to argue and said directly, "I'm very interested in that woman among them. Or are you planning to compete with me, Mr. Kingpin?"

Looking at Han Yu's calm smile, Kingpin grew increasingly convinced that this young man was no ordinary person.

Kingpin had personally reviewed the surveillance footage of the intersection on the day Han Yu saved his son.

In the blink of an eye, Han Yu had dashed from over a hundred meters away to pull Kingpin's son from the crosswalk, right as cars sped by. To the average observer, it was as if a gust of wind had swept through.

"This guy… What's his background? He's definitely a powerful superhuman," Kingpin thought to himself.

After receiving the information from Kingpin, Han Yu bid him farewell and set off to find the siblings, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, following the address provided.

As night fell, beneath a bustling bridge with cars zooming overhead, a man and a woman sat on a tattered old sofa abandoned under the structure.

Despite her somewhat dirty clothing, the woman's beauty was undeniable. Her over-the-knee socks paired with a short skirt made her long, pale legs stand out even more. She was Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch.

Beside her, a silver-haired man handed her a piece of bread and said, "Wanda, eat something."

This was her brother, Pietro Maximoff, also known as Quicksilver.

"How much longer do we have to live like this?"

Wanda glanced at the bread Pietro handed her. It was slightly moldy, and she buried her face in her knees, clearly despondent.

The constant fleeing and hiding over the past few days had left her physically and mentally exhausted. On top of that, they hadn't had a proper meal in days, barely scraping by.

Pietro sighed. He was at a loss. Their previous life wasn't great, but at least they didn't have to worry about food and shelter.

Now, after the Avengers had destroyed their "home," they were forced to wander the streets. If caught, they might end up imprisoned again, just like before.

"At least eat a little. In a few days, I'll try to find a job. Once we have a steady income, we can live properly," Pietro reassured her.

Wanda sighed softly and was about to take the bread when her peripheral vision caught sight of a group of men approaching.

Looking up, she saw three shabby-looking men, likely from the nearby slums.

Pietro noticed them too. Seeing that the men were heading straight toward them, his heart sank. He grabbed Wanda and was about to leave when two more similarly dressed men appeared in front of them, effectively cutting off their escape.

"Not so fast," said one of the three men, a Black man with a brown bandana. "I've been watching you two for days. This is our turf. You've been sleeping here comfortably, haven't you?"

Not wanting trouble, Pietro replied, "Sorry, we didn't know this was your territory. We'll leave right away."

Though Pietro tried to leave with Wanda, the other four men blocked their way, forming a circle around them.

"Did I say you could leave?"

The bandana-wearing man stepped forward, his gaze lingering on Wanda.

When he saw how beautiful she was, a flash of greed crossed his eyes. He smirked and said, "You've been staying here for days. Don't you think it's time to pay up?"

Pietro stepped protectively in front of Wanda. He had noticed the man's gaze and, as a fellow man, knew exactly what he was thinking.

This area, being close to the slums, was virtually lawless. Unless something catastrophic happened, the police wouldn't intervene.

But Wanda was his sister. There was no way he'd let her be harmed in exchange for their safety.

"Do I have to use my powers?"

Clenching his fists tightly, Pietro hesitated. He rarely used his abilities—just once recently, when he stole some food. Even then, it had drawn the attention of an unknown group that pursued him.

He was reluctant to use his powers again, fearing it might endanger Wanda.

Seeing Pietro's silence, the bandana-wearing man lost patience. He stepped forward and reached out toward Wanda.

A faint red glow appeared in Wanda's hand, but Pietro quickly restrained her. He turned and shook his head at her, signaling not to use her powers.

Before the man's grimy hand could touch Wanda, the sound of a light breeze cut through the air, followed by a scream.

A small, bloody hole, the size of half a pinky, had appeared in the center of the man's outstretched palm.

"You still have time to leave," said a calm, magnetic voice from behind them.

The group turned to see a young man standing there with a bag of food in one hand. He smiled faintly as he casually tossed a small stone in his other hand.

"Why hesitate to use your abilities against these kinds of people? Even if they talk, no one will believe them anyway."

The bandana-wearing man's hand had been pierced by Han Yu's thrown pebble.

With the Undying God's Mark, Han Yu's physical strength had reached superhuman levels. A casually thrown stone from him could match the speed of a rifle shot.

"What are you waiting for? Attack him! Beat him to death!"

Clutching his wounded hand, the bandana-wearing man yelled in pain.

The other men exchanged uncertain glances but, after a moment of hesitation, gritted their teeth, pulled out switchblades from their pockets, and charged at Han Yu with loud cries to boost their courage.

"Is that all?"

Han Yu smirked, calmly twirling a few pebbles in his hand, watching their reckless charge with a composed expression.

Before the attackers could make it five steps, a sharp cry rang out. They collapsed to the ground, clutching their knees and wailing in agony.

Wanda blinked in confusion. "What just happened?"

From her perspective, the men had simply fallen mid-run, as if by some unseen force.

Quicksilver, however, had a glimmer of shock in his eyes. "Such incredible speed!" he blurted.

Among those present, only Quicksilver had super-speed abilities. His movement could already reach supersonic levels, yet even he had barely caught a faint blur of Han Yu's actions.

Han Yu strolled forward, chuckling softly. "Are you two alright?"

"We're fine... Thank you for earlier."

Han Yu's gentle demeanor and warm tone made it hard for someone like Wanda, who had never experienced romance, to remain unaffected. His clear eyes lacked the vulgarity she often saw from men who stared at her.

This only made Wanda feel uneasy in a new way. She blushed and turned her head to avoid his gaze.

"And who are you?"

Quicksilver, more cautious, pulled Wanda behind him and glared at Han Yu warily.

Sensing Pietro's vigilance, Han Yu stopped approaching. Instead, he kept a safe distance, offering a reassuring smile. "Just a passing small shop owner."

Despite Han Yu's calm demeanor, Quicksilver remained uneasy. After thanking him, he pulled Wanda along, intending to leave.

Just as they were about to take a step, both their stomachs growled in unison.

Han Yu chuckled softly. "If you don't mind, come to my place for a meal. No charge—just help me out for a few days in return."

Quicksilver and Wanda's faces reddened. They were indeed starving, and Han Yu's offer broke through their last bit of pride.

On the way, Han Yu casually asked for their names, though he already knew. Through their brief conversation, he managed to ease Quicksilver's wariness.

Wanda, on the other hand, was far easier to win over. With her youthful and somewhat naive demeanor, she found herself disarmed by Han Yu's charm, which had been honed in his previous world of advanced entertainment and social networks. Compared to the men she encountered in the Marvel universe, Han Yu's charisma was in a league of its own.

To help them relax further, Han Yu openly revealed that he, too, possessed superpowers. Learning that he was also a superhuman lessened their apprehension, as they began to see him as a kindred spirit.

Once they reached the small shop, Han Yu prepared two dishes: spicy diced chicken and mapo tofu. The aroma wafted through the room as he brought the dishes to the dining table, instantly whetting their appetites.

"So spicy! So numbing! But so delicious!"

Quicksilver, who had been the most cautious at first, was now the most voracious eater. He scooped a spoonful of chicken into his bowl, devouring half the rice in no time.

"Ha ha! Eat as much as you like. These are dishes from my hometown—not something you'd find every day," Han Yu said with a laugh, eating alongside them at a similar speed.

Watching the two siblings eat with such fervor, Wanda couldn't help but chuckle. For the first time in days, she felt a sense of ease. There was something inexplicably comforting about this small shop—a feeling of being at home.
