"Stop!"

Accompanied by their shouts, an invisible wave of psychic energy erupted from Charles and surged into the minds of the surrounding kids.

The next second, their expressions froze, and they obediently stepped back like puppets.

At the same time, the steel pipe in Turner's hand was twisted and deformed, turning into a useless lump of metal.

Everyone froze in shock, and Turner, looking like he had seen a ghost, dropped the pipe at his feet.

Before he could process what had just happened, Charles and Eric rushed to Clark's side, wielding brooms to shield him from the others.

"Get lost if you don't want to be beaten so badly that your mom won't recognize you!" Charles shouted.

The kids who had been attacking Clark were now shaking their heads, confused.

What just happened?

Turner glared at the others, his teeth gritted in anger. "What are you all standing there for? Get him!"

Although he had no idea what had just occurred, he decided to go along with it.

Clark stood up, positioning Charles and Eric behind him. "What are you two doing here?"

Seeing that the kids were closing in, Clark sighed. "We'll talk later."

With that, he grabbed one of them, turned, and dashed past the others.

"Quick, stop him!" Turner yelled, charging after him.

But no matter how fast they tried, they couldn't catch up to Clark. With just a slight burst of speed, Clark easily outran them.

After setting the two down, Clark snapped, "Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?"

"We couldn't just stand by and let them beat you!" Eric said angrily.

"You know they can't hurt me."

"Not being able to hurt you is one thing, but letting them beat you is another!" Charles said, puffing up with frustration. "I've memorized their faces. Once I find out their names and addresses, I'll tell Dad."

Eric grinned. "I support you! Those scumbags deserve a lesson!"

Looking at the two of them, still furious on his behalf, Clark couldn't help but smile. "Let's just go eat, I'm starving."

Charles nodded, but Eric just muttered under his breath.

"You're the real food lover!"

Suddenly, Charles snapped, "You're the one who's a glutton!"

Eric froze for a moment, and Clark asked in confusion, "Who said that just now?"

"He did!" Charles pointed at Eric.

Eric shook his head. "I didn't say anything!"

"You did! I heard you!" Charles insisted firmly.

Eric muttered something under his breath again.

Charles lunged at Eric, fuming. "You're the crazy one!"

Eric looked stunned. He had only thought it in his head.

Clark grabbed Charles. "Wait, what's going on? I didn't see Eric say anything."

Charles glared at Eric, breathing heavily. "He said it, I heard him!"

"No, I didn't!" Eric exclaimed, looking at Charles in shock. "I only thought it!"

As the words left Eric's mouth, all three of them froze. Then Clark and Eric turned to stare at Charles in disbelief.

Charles panicked. "Don't look at me like that!"

"Try it!" Eric said excitedly. "Quick, try it! This is superpower stuff!"

Clark smacked Eric lightly on the head. "Quiet down!"

Being naturally different from others, Clark understood what this meant. It wasn't just excitement—it was more about caution and concealment.

Eric rubbed his head, chuckling awkwardly. "Hehe, I'm hungry. How about we talk while we eat?"

Clark and Charles nodded.

As the three of them ran toward the cafeteria, Mike, who was busy selling grain at the farm, received a system notification.

"Eric Kent has awakened his mutant ability—Magnetic Manipulation. Charles Kent has awakened his mutant ability—Telepathy."

Mike froze, then shouted to Bob, who was nearby, "Bob, keep an eye on things here. I need to head to the school!"

Bob acknowledged him, and Mike quickly left.

Awakened?

Why now? What happened? Were they injured during the awakening?

Mike felt a surge of worry.

Once he was out of Bob's sight, Mike summoned a card from his fingers.

*Name:* Teleportation (Remote)

*Ability Description:* Uses spatial energy for long-distance travel.

*Note:* Never use this for something trivial like going to the bathroom. That would be an insult to the ability. But… it's actually really handy!

With a thought, the card vanished, and Mike disappeared from his spot, reappearing near Clark's school before rushing inside.

The school was quiet, nothing like a chaotic scene, which was a good sign.

He glanced at his wristwatch, thought for a moment, and headed toward the cafeteria.

At this time of day, with these three little troublemakers' personalities, if nothing major had happened, they'd probably go grab something to eat first.

Sure enough, when Mike hurried into the cafeteria, the three kids were sitting around a table, chatting happily.

"Hehe!" Charles covered his mouth and pointed at a boy not far away. "Rodney secretly wore his sister's skirt yesterday, and his sister beat him up for it."

Eric, pumped up as if full of energy, excitedly looked around, searching for his next target. "What about that one?"

He pointed at a boy from a higher grade.

Charles looked over, his eyes flashing slightly, trying hard to ignore the voices around him, but it still made his head throb.

A pained expression crossed his face. "This is awful. It feels like there are so many voices in my head, shouting."

At his words, Eric and Clark became alarmed.

"You're feeling it now, huh?"

The three turned around to see Mike standing behind them. Their faces lit up with surprise, and Charles immediately rushed to hug Mike. "Dad, I feel terrible."

Mike picked up Charles and said, "Let's go, we'll talk at home."

Clark and Eric hurried to follow, and the four of them quickly left the cafeteria, under the curious gazes of the others.

Once Mike and the kids were outside the school and in a secluded spot, he pulled out a card and used it. In an instant, the four of them vanished from the spot.

The next moment, they appeared at home.

Mike carried Charles into his room and gently placed him on the bed. "How are you feeling now?"

"The voices have quieted down a lot. It's much better."

Charles let out a relieved sigh, recalling how the voices had been crashing into his head earlier, causing an excruciating pain as if his skull was going to split apart. He couldn't help but shiver.

He was truly scared.

He looked up at Mike with a pitiful expression. "Dad, what should I do?"

"Don't worry," Clark said with a smile. "Abilities can be controlled with practice."

He'd been through similar experiences, although for him, the voices were the ones spoken aloud, while Charles experienced something far more powerful—he heard people's innermost thoughts.
