Chapter 362: Treasures
"Of course, the Infinity Gauntlet was created by Thanos of Universe 1210, based on the designs of the Celestials."
"After Thanos was hunted down and killed by the Celestials, the gauntlet was taken by us Watchers stationed there and placed in our collection."
"Unfortunately, because Infinity Stones are unique to each universe, what Mr. Zane sees here is just a replica."
As Uatu walked, he introduced the origins and functions of the nearby artifacts to Zane. They stopped in front of a display featuring a piece of armor:
"This is the God-Slaying Armor, an immensely powerful mechanical suit we Watchers invented during our war against the Celestials."
"In Universe 1610, on Earth labeled as Earth-776, we secretly provided the blueprints for this armor to Tony Stark of that planet, known to Earthlings as Iron Man."
"Later, Stark used this God-Slaying Armor to annihilate nearly all the Celestials invading Earth at the time."
Zane was momentarily stunned. He was quite familiar with Iron Man, Tony Stark.
Even if it was Stark from another universe, in Zane's eyes, he was still a weakling in combat.
So, he didn't expect that merely acquiring a suit of armor would allow Stark to challenge and kill the Celestials.
This armor is pretty decent…
Zane thought to himself. As he listened to Uatu, he had already figured out the perfect candidate for this armor.
At this moment, Uatu's tone became heavier as he continued:
"However, the Watcher who did that violated the agreement we Watchers had sworn to uphold."
"He interfered with the affairs of another life-bearing planet, and upon returning he was punished."
"Of course, that person was not me."
"Because, before him, I had already been punished. It was only recently that I was released from confinement to take up this role as the curator."
Zane asked with interest:
"Oh? Then what was your offense?"
"It was also related to Earth, but the primary universe's Earth—Earth-616."
"Back then, Earth faced an invasion by extraterrestrial forces."
"Although the invaders had no intention of truly conquering Earth, it was still a moment of life and death for the planet."
"As the Watcher assigned to Earth at the time, I couldn't help but join forces with the native deities to repel the invasion."
"And after that, I had to stay never ventur out again."
"Alright, enough about that."
Uatu, a bit dejected, stopped the topic and glanced at Zane with a meaningful look before saying slowly:
"Mr. Zane, I believe you now understand the existence of our Watcher clan's secret treasure—the Eye of Observation."
"Next, allow me, Uatu, to take you, Mr. Zane, to see the source of power for all Watcher medallions."
"Heh... finally getting to the main event, are we?" Zane mused playfully to himself.
A rift tore through the void.
The two stepped into it and disappeared without a trace.
In the blink of an eye, Zane and Uatu found themselves inside a sealed, transparent space.
Zane looked down and saw the view of the museum below.
At this moment, the museum appeared to have been deliberately arranged by the Watchers.
Despite the vastness of the space, there was no one else present—not even any staff, aside from Uatu himself.
Though the museum below was empty and eerily quiet, Zane could still sense that the space they were in had completely isolated them from all external sounds.
This space was likely within another temporal dimension altogether.
"Mr. Zane, please rest assured. This is the Pocket Dimension, located beneath our Museum," Uatu explained, seated across from Zane. "Our conversation here will be completely secure and will not leak out in any way."
"This is beneath the museum? Are you stupid? Or do you take me for one?"
Zane gave Uatu a look as if he were a fool. From this vantage point, it was clear they were at the very top of the museum, not underground.
"This is achieved through a mirror-space reverse rotation. If any enemy manages to breach the external defenses, they'll also think we're at the museum's summit."
"This buys us plenty of time to prepare."
As Uatu finished speaking, his face lit up with a smile. Combined with the gleaming surface of his bald head, it gave a somewhat comical impression.
Zane hadn't expected this explanation and asked abruptly, "And what about the Eye of Observation you mentioned?"
As soon as Zane finished his question, the transparent, enclosed space began to emit crisp, ringing sounds.
Moments later, the outer edges of the space were enveloped by a dark green luminous wall, refracting a mesmerizing brilliance.
"As you can see, this is the internal dimension of our Watcher clan's secret treasure, the Eye of Observation," Uatu said.
"Without the status of an elder from the Watcher clan, it's impossible to unlock this dimensional space."
"Now, Mr. Zane, may I tell you about the history of our Watcher clan?"
Uatu's sincere eyes looked directly at Zane, with not a trace of deceit in them.
"Alright, go ahead," Zane replied, knowing that during this explanation, the Fulcrum mentioned in the system task would likely appear.
By then, Zane would finally learn whether the Fulcrum was a person or something else entirely.
Besides, since the Watchers were the earliest race to appear in this universe, their history essentially paralleled that of the Marvel Universe itself.
"Thank you, Mr. Zane," Uatu said, giving a small, polite smile of gratitude before launching into his story:
"Our old lord once said that before this universe, there were five previous cosmic generations, known as the Five Preceding Epochs, each created by a Cosmic Architect called the Epoch Sovereign.
The first Epoch Sovereign was named Sky, while the identities of the later ones have been lost to time.
It is said that each Epoch Sovereign was personally appointed by The One Above All, the supreme ruler of the entire omniverse.
The Epoch Sovereign functioned similarly to today's Living Tribunal, but for this current epoch, the universe's creator is Eternity."
"The One Above All is sometimes referred to as T-O-A-A or simply O-A-A."
