Chapter 380: Death Herself

Zane instantly transformed into a golden flash and darted to the side.

Immediately afterward, the Planet Devourer, engulfed in a fiery sphere of energy, abruptly came to a halt despite moving at high speed.

Not even a trace of residual energy was left in its wake.

The Planet Devourer glared coldly at Zane, who stood a short distance away. It noticed a crimson glow flicker in Zane's eyes and sneered, saying mockingly:

"Those eyes again?"

"I've already reviewed the records of your battles with Tiamut and the others, though it was purely for studying the weapon Tiamut invented."

"Still, I'll tell you this: your eyes are useless against me."

"You see, I possess the mental capacity to simultaneously read the thoughts of all beings in the universe."

"Although I cannot yet directly access the mind of a higher-dimensional entity like you, shielding myself from the psychic interference of your eyes is trivial for me..."

With that, a surge of purple gas erupted from the Planet Devourer's helmet, enveloping its entire head.

It then shifted direction and charged toward Zane once more, its body like a sharp blade piercing rapidly through the multi-dimensional void.

In an instant, the void was torn apart, only to mend just as quickly.

But for Zane, now equipped with the Sharingan, this was akin to a series of flashes captured in slow motion.

Though the movements were lightning-fast, each frame was etched clearly into Zane's mind.

Zane gracefully dodged the opponent's concentrated attack and suddenly drew Reaper's Scythe.

Looking at the now-frozen Planet Devourer, Zane remarked:

"This time, you've made another mistake."

"And it's a fatal one."

"The eyes I just used weren't Eyes of Illusion; they're eyes that see Death."

"Even a being like you, with almost no death lines, exposed one faint thread after summoning multiversal energy."

Upon hearing this, the Planet Devourer jolted as if struck by lightning and exclaimed in shock:

'No! That's the mark left behind when the Old One split my original form! How could he discover it after billions of years?!'

"Those eyes of his... what on earth are they?!"

Swish!

The Reaper's Scythe slashed through the air like the wind.

The Planet Devourer, relying purely on instinct, dodged desperately.

Yet, the tip of the scythe still grazed its body.

A protective energy barrier formed around the Planet Devourer, frantically gathering to resist the scythe that radiated ominous black flames.

However, the scythe seemed to possess an unstoppable force, breaking through the defense in an instant.

The Planet Devourer's body didn't last half a second before it burst like an overinflated balloon, extinguishing in a flash.

With just one strike, Zane had slain the Planet Devourer.

From Zane's [Divine Realm], a thin black thread emerged, dragging the Planet Devourer's soul from its withered corpse.

At that moment, a figure cloaked in black suddenly appeared, clutching a round, plump head that had escaped from the corpse.

With a sinister chuckle, the figure said:

"Well, well, what an unexpected windfall..."

"Who would've thought the seed I carelessly planted back then would grow into such a bountiful fruit?"

"It's almost amusing, really—now even vying with its original master for business..."

The figure cloaked in black finished speaking, remaining hidden within the unfathomable darkness, showing not even a hint of their true form.

With a light grasp, they gently tugged on the floating, oversized head, pulling it slowly toward their body.

The black thread extending from Zane's [Divine Realm] was severed in an instant.

Then, the large, round head abruptly vanished from the figure's palm.

"Who are you?"

Zane shouted at the figure, momentarily forgetting to consult Roma—the walking encyclopedia of the universe—standing behind him.

The figure chuckled darkly and replied:

"Zane Sy, I advise you not to tempt me…"

"If you keep talking to me, I might lose control and devour this fruit of yours right here and now."

"It's simply irresistible—the more I look, the more I want to take a bite…"

As they spoke, the black cloak enveloping the figure trembled uncontrollably, as if suppressing a force it could barely contain.

"You're one of the Five Founding Gods of the Omniversal Cosmos, the true Goddess of Death, aren't you?"

In truth, Zane had suspected the figure's identity from the moment they appeared. This was none other than the Death Goddess who had been haunting his thoughts for so long.

Not Hela of Asgard, but the True Death Goddess of the Marvel Multiverse.

Or rather, Death itself, personified.

When Zane looked at the figure, he could sense an insatiable greed emanating from the nonexistent gaze beneath the cloak.

He knew all too well that if not for this greed, Death would have left the moment the soul of the Planet Devourer disappeared.

Zane intentionally engaged the figure in conversation, aiming to provoke and amplify this greed.

"Well, since you've come, why not stay?"

"Even if it's just a projection…"

Swish!

The Reaper's Scythe, previously stored in Zane's [King's Treasury], flashed out in a burst of golden light.

Gripping it tightly, Zane swung the scythe directly toward the cloaked figure's head.

Death, still hidden beneath the cloak, dodged the scythe's blade with an ethereal, ghost-like motion, avoiding the invisible black flames that wreathed its edge.

The gust from the scythe, however, flipped back the hood of the cloak, briefly revealing what lay beneath.

At first, a gleaming white skull was visible, but then flesh began to grow over it at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Moments later, the entire shadowy figure took on the appearance of a stunningly alluring woman.

She appeared to be around twenty-five or twenty-six—just past the cusp of youthful innocence but still retaining traces of it. Her mature, enchanting presence seemed to defy any association with death.

Zane immediately realized this was merely a form Death had chosen to take.

As one of the Five Founding Gods, Death was an abstract, logical entity of the Omniversal Cosmos, devoid of any true gender.

The woman, now fully formed, stared at Zane with a dazzling, seductive smile and said:

"My, my, what a clever little fox, trying to outwit me…"

"Fine, fine. My work here is done anyway, so I'll play with you a little."

"Let's see if you can figure out who your true master is…"

Swish!

She wiggled her left index finger seductively at Zane.

Suddenly, a thin, ethereal chain emerged from Zane's heart, shimmering faintly in the air.
