Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Wanda and Pietro's Special Training
When Kyle spoke about the ruins, the dissatisfaction on Tony's face dissipated, and as Kyle continued, Tony's body began to tremble slightly.
Before Kyle could go on, Tony interrupted, "It's the words 'Stark Industries'."
Kyle nodded.
At this moment, Tony turned to Wanda and Pietro, his expression filled with guilt and remorse.
Though his original intention in creating weapons was to defend peace, it was undeniable that many tragedies had occurred because of the weapons he made. If he had truly believed that making weapons could defend peace, he wouldn't have held a press conference the moment he escaped captivity to announce the shutdown of Stark Industries' weapons manufacturing division.
The path of becoming a superhero was, in part, his way of making amends for those past mistakes. Even if they weren't entirely his fault, Tony felt he bore some responsibility.
Silence filled the room for a moment.
Tony looked at Wanda and Pietro again, saying, "I'm sorry. Because of me, you both suffered unjustly. Is there anything I can do for you? As long as it's within my power."
Hearing Tony's words, Wanda and Pietro hesitated, unsure of what to say. After all, they were only fifteen years old and instinctively looked to Kyle for guidance.
Kyle smiled and said, "You can decide for yourselves."
In the original plot, Wanda and Pietro were trapped in the ruins for two days and nights, staring at the words "Stark Industries" in a state of extreme fear, which inflicted deep psychological trauma and fueled their hatred for Tony. But now, thanks to Kyle, they had been rescued after only five hours, and Kyle had taken them in, giving them a home. As a result, though they still harbored some resentment towards Tony, it wasn't as intense.
Wanda clung to Kyle's arm, looking at Tony. "No, I'm living a good life now."
"Neither do I," Pietro added. After a pause, he continued, "Wanda and I are lucky to have met Kyle. But there are many other war orphans in Sokovia like us. If you could, Mr. Stark, please help them."
Tony was momentarily taken aback by Pietro's words, then he turned to Kyle with a smile, saying, "Kyle, you're right. They really are good kids. I envy you."
Tony then added, "In that case, I'll set up a fund of 10 billion USD to help Sokovian war orphans with their living expenses and education. How does that sound?"
He looked at Pietro.
Ever since Tony announced he was Iron Man and shifted Stark Industries towards clean energy, the company's stock had skyrocketed. Its market value now exceeded 200 billion USD and was on track to reach 300 billion USD. After Obadiah's death, Tony had inherited his shares, and with the 15% voting rights from Kyle's shares handed over to him, Tony now controlled 67% of Stark Industries. He had absolute power on the board, so a 10 billion-dollar fund was a manageable expense.
Internally, Kyle cursed—out of the 10 billion, 1.5 billion came from his own shares. Pietro, with just a few words, had cost him 1.5 billion USD! He thought, *Why couldn't you learn from Wanda and keep quiet?*
*No way!* Kyle resolved to punish Pietro with a few months' deduction of pocket money to ease his heartache.
"Yes… yes…" Pietro was stunned by Tony's generosity and regretted speaking up. He hadn't expected Tony's compensation to be so massive, realizing that a portion of it could have been his. But upon reflecting that the fund would help children like himself and Wanda, and with the prospect of his pocket money doubling next month, he felt better.
Little did Pietro know that Kyle was planning to withhold his pocket money for the next few months. If he found out now, he'd likely be crying in a corner.
"By the way, Kyle, what happened this morning? I didn't get a chance to ask before you left. Do you need any help? You know I can pull some strings, whether it's the military or Washington. Also, buddy, you should give me your number. Otherwise, I have to fly all the way from L.A. to New York just to find you."
Tony started grumbling.
"You could consider moving Stark Industries from L.A. to New York," Kyle quipped.
Unexpectedly, Tony gave it serious thought, nodded, and said, "Good idea. Let's do that."
Kyle was momentarily stunned. *That was quick!*
But then he remembered that in the original plot, Stark Industries did eventually move to New York, so he didn't dwell on it.
"Hey, you still haven't told me what happened this morning," Tony pressed.
"It's already resolved, so you came here for nothing," Kyle replied.
"Don't flatter yourself. I just came to check on you. Since everything's fine, I'll head out. Pepper's waiting for me. Damn, I didn't expect to waste this much time with you."
With that, Tony left abruptly.
Without any outsiders present, Wanda and Pietro flopped down on the sofa like two lazy fish. Seeing them, Kyle couldn't help but shake his head in exasperation. *Where did these two dead kids pick up this bad habit?*
"You two, come over here," Kyle said, his voice stern.
Seeing that Kyle was about to get angry, the siblings hurried to stand in front of him obediently.
"What's wrong?" Wanda asked.
"I ran into a few gun-wielding thugs this morning, and you two got injured. How can you call yourselves superhumans?" Kyle's frustration bubbled over.
If their superpowers were weak, it would be understandable. But Wanda and Pietro's abilities were so strong that even Kyle, with his powers, found them impressive. Against just a dozen gunmen? It was ridiculous.
They should be able to crush hundreds of heavily armed soldiers with ease!
"It's not that bad," Pietro muttered.
"Not bad this time, but what about next time? What if I can't get there in time? Pietro, do you want to see Wanda die? Or Wanda, do you want what happened this morning to happen again?" Kyle's voice was low and serious.
Seeing their indifferent attitudes, Kyle's anger flared up.
Shaken by his words, the siblings shook their heads.
"Since you don't want that, starting today, you'll both train your powers for two hours daily. And Pietro, because of your awful performance today, your pocket money is cut off for three months."
Kyle's decree left Pietro in stunned silence.
