Marvel: I Can Summon

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Tony's Apology

After the gunshot, Nick Fury, in a black trench coat, walked in, stared at Kyle with his one eye, and said slowly:

"You killed the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Wrong."

Kyle glanced at him and countered: "It was the leader of HYDRA."

"No one can prove it," Nick Fury said solemnly.

"You want evidence?"

Kyle raised his eyebrows and said directly, "What I say is the evidence. If you want the evidence you're thinking of, that's fine. Although it's a little troublesome, it's not impossible to find. Just remember to go online, and I'll publish it when you're ready."

HYDRA hid so deeply that Kyle could hardly find any solid proof. But that didn't stop him from using the claim to manipulate Nick Fury. Even if Fury knew Kyle was likely bluffing, he wouldn't dare to take the risk.

If news spread that HYDRA had infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. at the highest levels, becoming its director, it would cause chaos. S.H.I.E.L.D. would likely be dissolved, and a full investigation into all personnel would begin. Kyle, meanwhile, could happily retire and live a peaceful life somewhere far away.

Kyle was confident of this.

Sure enough, upon hearing Kyle's words, Nick Fury's eye twitched slightly. After taking a deep breath, he said, "No need. I'll find the evidence myself. Do you know who else in S.H.I.E.L.D. is HYDRA?"

"No idea."

After a pause, Kyle added, "But, if you hand over the Tesseract or the Infinity Formula, I might remember a couple of names."

Nick Fury's face froze.

The Tesseract or the Infinity Formula, just for one or two names?!

"No, I will find every HYDRA agent in S.H.I.E.L.D. myself," Nick Fury responded sternly.

Kyle shrugged. "Pull out all of them, huh?"

He chuckled inwardly. Even if Fury started investigating, he wouldn't get very far before realizing how widespread the corruption was.

The name "Snake Shield Bureau" wasn't just a joke.

"Whatever."

Kyle wasn't too disappointed about not getting what he wanted. He knew Nick Fury would come to him sooner or later, and when that day came, Kyle wouldn't hold back.

With his purpose accomplished, there was no need for Kyle to stay any longer. He teleported directly back home.

After Kyle left, Nick Fury stood silently, staring at Pierce's lifeless body on the floor, his former boss, now just a cold corpse.

There was a trace of sadness in Fury's eye.

Pierce had been his superior since Fury first joined S.H.I.E.L.D., and they had shared a deep bond. Fury had once been willing to take a bullet for Pierce.

But what he hadn't expected was that Pierce was HYDRA.

So, he could only watch as Kyle ended Pierce's life with a single bullet.

For Nick Fury, belief and responsibility always came first, even before personal feelings.

Sentimentality wasn't something he allowed himself to dwell on. With one last look at Pierce, Nick Fury turned and left.

He had more important things to do.

...

Although Kyle could teleport, it had been five or six hours since he had saved Pietro, killed Alexander Pierce, and then rushed back home.

By the time he arrived, it was already evening.

Before even entering his house, Kyle heard a familiar voice:

"Hey... can you put me down first? I've said it fifty-eight times—I'm Kyle's friend. Besides, haven't you seen my face on TV? How could I be a bad guy?"

It was Tony Stark.

Did he come over out of concern for me? Kyle's heart warmed.

Although Tony could be irritating and had a bad attitude, as Pepper often said, he had a good heart, especially when it came to his friends.

"Bad people never admit they're bad, and they don't write it on their faces. Anyone who breaks into our home without permission is treated as a threat. That's what Kyle taught us," came Wanda's voice.

"..."

Tony was speechless. Is this how Kyle teaches his kids? He had been considering making Kyle the godfather of his future children. But now… maybe it was time to reconsider.

Kyle opened the door and walked inside.

He saw Tony hanging upside down from the ceiling, his face flushed from the blood rushing to his head. Clearly, he had been hanging there for quite some time.

Wanda and Pietro stood nearby, watching Tony closely.

Upon seeing Kyle, Tony looked like he had spotted his savior. Almost in tears, he pleaded, "Oh my God, Kyle, you're finally back! Please tell them to let me down!"

"Kyle, are you alright?" Wanda hurried over to him, circling around to make sure he was okay before happily grabbing his arm.

Pietro also seemed relieved to see Kyle return safely.

Ruffling Wanda's hair, Kyle said, "Tony's indeed my friend. You can put him down now."

"Oh," Wanda complied. With a flick of her hand, her power was released, and Tony dropped onto the sofa.

Tony stood up, rubbing his stiff shoulders. He grumbled, "Kyle, I didn't expect your kids to have powers too. Are superpowers just popping up everywhere now? But seriously, you should teach them some restraint. Superpowers shouldn't be used so recklessly."

Kyle smiled and replied, "Wanda and Pietro are good kids. They don't use their powers outside. Honestly, Tony, considering what they did, you shouldn't be complaining."

"W-what?!"

Tony was a bit annoyed.

He'd been hanging there for an hour, completely immobilized.

"So, do I have to apologize to them or something?" Tony asked indignantly.

"Absolutely," Kyle responded.

Seeing the dissatisfaction on Tony's face, Kyle explained, "Tony, Wanda and Pietro are kids I adopted from Sokovia when I was stationed there."

"I know. The two suits you had me design were for them, right? But what does that have to do with me needing to apologize?" Tony interrupted, still annoyed.

"Just hear me out, Tony," Kyle continued. "Before I found them, they had been trapped under rubble for five or six hours. Do you know what they were like when I found them?"

"What were they like?" Tony asked.

"They were just two ten-year-old kids, huddled together, trembling, staring at a bomb that could have gone off at any moment. And on that bomb, there was a line that read…"
