Marvel: I Can Summon

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Pierce's Death

Seeing the compass in his hand pointing towards the door in front of him, Kyle frowned.

Using his enhanced perception, he sensed an aura inside. It had to be Pierce—there was no mistake, and the compass couldn't be wrong.

But since Pierce had sent Crossbones to intercept him, he must have known Kyle was coming for him. Yet, Kyle hadn't tampered with any surveillance devices.

In other words, was Pierce waiting for him in the room? Not trying to escape? Interesting. Did he have another card up his sleeve?

With that thought, Kyle heightened his awareness, fully activating his Psychokinetic barrier for protection. He didn't want to make any mistakes and waste one of his precious avatars here.

His Psychokinesis shattered the door directly.

The former S.H.I.E.L.D. office wasn't small, roughly a hundred square meters. The moment Kyle walked in, thick glass panels suddenly fell around him, trapping him in the center.

Frowning, Kyle looked towards Alexander Pierce.

Alexander Pierce sat calmly in a chair, looking as if he were a kind old man. Anyone seeing him for the first time would think he was a gentle person, never suspecting he was HYDRA's ruthless leader.

"Kyle…" Pierce pronounced his name imperfectly. He smiled and said, "This is our first meeting. I didn't expect things to get so tense. I apologize for that."

"Apologize?" Kyle raised an eyebrow, sneering. "Apologizing for trapping me in this glass box? How sincere of you."

"I think there's been some misunderstanding between us. Clear that up, and I'll let you out," Pierce responded.

"You think this thing can stop me from killing you?" Kyle retorted, his Psychokinesis already moving to shatter the glass.

Pierce, seemingly expecting Kyle's reaction, calmly said, "That's half a meter of carbon-tempered glass—several times harder than steel plates. It can withstand impacts of over 1,500 tons."

Kyle smirked. This guy clearly didn't know about his other abilities. If he had, he'd have already run.

Pierce's knowledge of Kyle was based on a mission report submitted by Phil Coulson, which hadn't included any details after Nick Fury's arrival. So Pierce was unaware that Psychokinesis wasn't Kyle's only ability.

Seeing Kyle remain silent, Pierce continued, "I'm the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a member of the World Security Council. Do you know the crime you'd be committing by killing me? You've already killed fifteen agents who were silently defending the peace of this world. As the FBI's New York bureau chief, don't you feel any shame?"

His voice was full of righteous indignation.

Kyle was unimpressed. In fact, he thought this old guy in front of him should run for political office.

Pierce, seeing Kyle's lack of response, thought his words were having an effect. He had read Kyle's psychological profile and believed he had a strong sense of justice.

"The more righteous someone is," Pierce thought, "the easier they are to manipulate."

"Now," Pierce continued, "you must atone for your recklessness and take responsibility for your actions—"

"Enough," Kyle interrupted.

"Huh?" Pierce frowned.

Kyle's next words made his expression change completely. "If I should feel ashamed for killing HYDRA agents, does Captain America have to cry in a toilet stall every day?"

Pierce's face turned dark as he solemnly replied, "I don't know what you're talking about. HYDRA was destroyed by Captain America during World War II."

"Oh, really? As HYDRA's leader, you don't know? I'm just curious—after becoming S.H.I.E.L.D.'s director and nearing the end of your life, why are you still fantasizing about HYDRA ruling the world? Couldn't you think of something more practical? Like running for office?"

In his previous life, Kyle had always wondered about this. Ideals aside, if Crossbones had beliefs, Kyle could buy that. But Pierce? An old guy who'd been in politics for decades? People like him never had true beliefs.

The more Kyle talked, the darker Pierce's expression became. His gaze was full of killing intent. Though he craved Kyle's superpowers, his life was more important.

If word got out that he was HYDRA, who knew what would happen to the organization? But Pierce himself would certainly be executed. Killing Kyle, however, might allow him to extract the secrets of his powers from his corpse.

Pierce reached into his pocket, pulled out a remote, and pressed a button.

Suddenly, sharp pain coursed through Kyle's entire body. His muscles, bones, and organs all vibrated as though they were being torn apart.

Though it didn't exceed Kyle's endurance, it was excruciatingly uncomfortable. After all, thanks to the perfect T-virus serum, Kyle's physical abilities were over five times that of a normal human. Even so, the vibration was hard to tolerate.

For an ordinary person, it would have been unbearable within seconds.

Different from others, Kyle's hearing picked up a subtle, low-pitched sound.

Infrasonic weapons!

The sound waves emitted by such weapons resonate with human organs, causing them to vibrate and potentially rupture. This was the same weapon Obadiah had used against Tony Stark at his villa.

Ignoring the pain, Kyle glared at Pierce.

A moment later, Pierce's horrified gaze saw Kyle appear right in front of him.

"You… how did you…"

Without giving Pierce a chance to finish, Kyle shot him dead.

The villain who had hidden in the shadows for more than half a century died just like that.

Ironically, despite being HYDRA, Pierce had spent his entire life working for S.H.I.E.L.D.
