Marvel: Reincarnated As Kitty Pryde

Chapter 2: Phased Healing

When Kitty was starting to think about using her power to test if she could accomplish what she thought, she received a system notification.

At this time, she was sitting on the sofa after the MGH injection and didn't look like someone who had been in pain just moments before.

[The host has checked in for the first time, and the System Panel has been activated. The host can summon the panel as long as she thinks about it.]

"Cool, a system panel now?" Kitty was happy that her system had this function. It's one of the many useful functions a system can have, and it would help her always keep track of her body and powers.

She was curious about what her system panel looked like, and the moment she thought about seeing it, the panel popped up in front of her, as if it had been waiting for her cue.

[Host of the Check-In System Panel]

[Name: Kitty Pryde]

[Age: 23]

[Race: Mutant]

[Ability: Omega-Level Phasing]

[Skills: Absolute Intangibility (Level 1), Phased Healing (Level 1)]

Reading the information, it was a little more basic than she expected without the attribute ratings and all, but still, it wasn't bad. She then thought about seeing the details of her skills, and the panel expanded.

[Absolute Intangibility (Level 1): Able to phase not only through matter but through energy, space, and even time.

Limit: 5 minutes duration]

[Phased Healing (Level 1): While phased, able to automatically heal by "resetting" the molecular structure to a pristine state. Any injuries sustained would disappear when phasing, able to survive nearly any injury as long as the intangible state is entered.]

"Huh? So I'm basically a Pro Max version of Obito, or he's a bankrupt version of me?" Kitty chuckled as she said this.

It was obviously just a joke, but even though she seemed relaxed and carefree, as if she didn't give much thought to how powerful her abilities were, that wasn't really the case.

Sure, she didn't fear death, but in a world like Marvel's, there were plenty of things worse than dying.

Imagine your memory being erased, your personality being changed by someone to suit their tastes, your loved ones being used against you as hostages.

Things like that happened all the time in this world. At least now, she had the power to protect herself and no longer had to restrain herself from doing what she had wanted to do before.

After making up her mind and preparing to heal herself to try out how miraculous her ability was, Kitty suddenly heard the doorbell ring, breaking her concentration. She thought, 'Did Daisy finish work so soon?'

When she opened the door, it wasn't her manager who she was expecting but the last person she would have expected to see, a police officer, a female police officer to be exact.

"Miss Pryde?" the officer asked in a polite and friendly voice, making Kitty wonder if she was still in the United States.

Kitty didn't respond immediately but looked at the woman carefully, examining her face. She looked very familiar. The woman had black hair, but Kitty, with her enhanced senses, could tell it wasn't her natural hair color.

After mentally changing it to different colors and settling on crimson, she realized who it was. She thought, 'Isn't that Natasha Romanoff? The Black Widow? What is she doing here?'

'Did the universe see that I'm open for love and send her to me? But I already have Daisy.'

As someone who had never been in love but was aware of her preferences, she was obviously overthinking.

However, her rational side quickly took control. This wasn't the time to fantasize.

Returning to reality, she said in a friendly tone, unlike the average American seeing a police officer, "Yeah, how can I help you?"

Obviously, Natasha didn't know Kitty's inner monologue. She had come to see Kitty because the latter was one of the few people who had survived the fight yesterday.

She said, "I'm Officer Natty. It's concerning the incident that happened yesterday. As we're conducting a deeper investigation, we need to know everything you witnessed and if you noticed anything strange."

'SHIELD intervening just for a mutants' fight?' Kitty didn't think SHIELD would send someone as important as Natasha just for this.

Mutant fights were happening everywhere, and although the one yesterday killed some celebrities, it shouldn't have been that important.

"The mess yesterday? I already gave a statement, but come on in."

As she watched Kitty's back as she returned to her house, Natasha thought about Kitty's expression during the brief exchange. She hadn't seen any fear, unlike a normal person, especially someone in Kitty's position, an actress, a celebrity, now standing in front of a cop. Instead, Kitty seemed entirely at ease, like this was just another day for her.

What was even more impressive was that after entering, Kitty even prepared a cup of coffee for her. The relaxing atmosphere almost made Natasha forget her mission.

The fight that had happened yesterday wasn't actually caused by mutants.

It was two criminals who had escaped from a military experiment base after being subjected to many experiments, gaining powers.

Unfortunately, they lost their minds and started fighting each other after escaping. SHIELD and the military had both failed to recover their bodies, and they needed to find them before they fell into the wrong hands.

Natasha started looking around Kitty's house curiously.

According to the report she had read, Kitty was highly intelligent and had earned a PhD in Business Administration at 19, which was surprising considering she then entered the entertainment industry.

This news attracted some media attention, helping her take her first step toward celebrity. Over the past few years, she had played many roles and had gradually become a second-rate star.

Kitty had never had a love scandal with anyone and was rumored to prefer women over men. Natasha did notice that Kitty seemed attracted to her, but she hadn't yet reached a conclusion.

After taking a sip of coffee, Natasha, feeling more at ease, said, "In fact, it's not a really complicated affair. I just need you to tell me what you saw truthfully, and I'll write it down. It's that simple."

Kitty nodded, but in truth, she couldn't really help Natasha because she didn't have much to report. She had just attended a gala, and then a fight broke out. A mutant was thrown into their building, killing many people and barely missing her.

She told Natasha everything she knew, without lying, of course, but she left out unnecessary details, like the fact that she had awakened her mutant powers. That was something that would eventually become known, but she wanted to keep it hidden for as long as possible.
