Chapter 96: Marvel Scientist Becomes God, Ch 64.2
The professor smiled gently. "I'm getting old now. One day, this helmet will be passed on to you all."
The professor used "you all" instead of "you." In English, "you" can mean both singular and plural, and Phoenix didn't notice the distinction, but Ye Hai understood the implication: the professor's statement indicated that he was pleased with Ye Hai's current performance and would likely agree to entrust him with his genes in the near future.
As the professor spoke, he put the helmet on his head, nodded at Phoenix, then held his breath, his expression serious.
Understanding, Phoenix pressed the activation switch of the amplifier. In an instant, the indicator lights on the platform lit up, and the professor's body trembled slightly; his calm face shivered as if he were enduring considerable pain.
The entire space plunged into darkness for a moment before lighting up like stars in the night sky, illuminating the area like a galaxy in the universe.
Upon closer inspection, the scene resembled depictions from films, with the glowing "stars" representing indistinct human figures—most were pale white, while some were faintly red. However, these individuals seemed sparse amid the massive white figures.
Logan had never seen anything so peculiar; he curiously looked around and asked, "Are these things stars?"
"No," Phoenix replied. "These glowing figures represent people on Earth; the white figures indicate ordinary people, while the red figures represent mutants."
"Is this instrument used to sense brain radiation from humans?" Ye Hai inquired.
"Yes, Dr. Ye," Phoenix answered. "The brainwave frequencies of mutants differ from those of ordinary people. The professor can identify specific individuals through these differences."
Ye Hai asked, "Can the professor locate Magneto?"
"This amplifier was built by both the professor and Magneto, so Magneto is very familiar with it. He has ways to circumvent it. The professor hopes to track Magneto's subordinates through the amplifier, gathering clues to find Magneto himself."
"That sounds like a good plan," Ye Hai nodded, feeling some anticipation for the professor's abilities.
The professor's capability proved incredibly powerful, practically omnipresent. It was no wonder Magneto only brought a few people along when he acted; he didn't want the professor to trace him through his minions.
At that moment, the professor seemed to begin searching for a figure. The "stars" began to shift continuously, sometimes clustering densely, other times spreading out. Finally, like a satellite camera, the image zoomed in and focused on a figure.
It was just a vague silhouette; only the professor could probably see the person's exact features.
Ye Hai and the others watched in anticipation.
Then the image began to shift again, displaying a series of figures, some pale white and others faint red, rotating and transforming for over an hour.
Suddenly, all the figures vanished, and the space returned to darkness.
With a click, the lights turned on, illuminating the space. The professor, somewhat exhausted, removed the helmet, rubbing his sore head and saying, "He has entered Washington D.C. and then vanished."
"Could he be planning to use the machine in the White House?" Phoenix exclaimed in disbelief.
