Chapter 97: Marvel Scientist Becomes God, Ch 65.1
"No, Magneto is monitoring his subordinates. He seems intent on having a showdown with us," the professor stated wearily. This time, his search for the timeline involved a vast array of characters and distances, which greatly drained his mental energy.
Wolverine clenched his fists and asked, "Do we have a chance against them, Professor?" He felt uneasy about Magneto's powers; his metallic body was practically useless in the face of magnetic soil, rendering him ineffective.
"We have an ace up our sleeve," the professor said with a slight smile, as he was somewhat aware of Ye Hai's strength. A Level 4 mutant was indeed very powerful, especially with multiple abilities.
However, Phoenix seemed to ponder deeply and asked, "Professor, should we inform the government? Perhaps SHIELD? This could either postpone the summit or give us the support we need to oppose Magneto more effectively."
The professor's gaze flickered, and after a long pause, he finally replied, "Let's hold off on informing the government for now."
Phoenix was taken aback and asked, "Why not?"
Ye Hai smiled and said, "Jean, have you considered that informing the government would only make them even more opposed to mutants, putting us in a more dangerous situation? There's already a rising tide of anti-mutant sentiment globally; we shouldn't pour oil on the fire!"
Then he added with a grin, "Moreover, if we manage to foil Magneto's plans and save the world leaders, the public perception of mutants may change for the better!"
Phoenix nodded, "You make a good point, but can we really handle Magneto and his team? He has quite the number of followers!"
"Aren't they strong?" Ye Hai asked in surprise. "Aren't your X-Men always holding their ground against them?"
Phoenix sighed, "You give us too much credit. In the past, we could withstand attacks from the Brotherhood of Mutants, but that's no longer the case. Over the last decade, there have been increasingly numerous disturbances caused by mutants, and as more powerful ones have been hunted by the government, they flocked to the Brotherhood. Their strength has grown substantially, while our academy mainly consists of kids, and we don't have many powerful mutants left."
"I see," Ye Hai replied. "So who are Magneto's most formidable subordinates?"
"Magneto established the Brotherhood of Mutants decades ago and has been recruiting since then. Now his elite team includes powerful mutants like Sabretooth, Mystique, Quicksilver, and Rogue, among many others. Although their new recruits may lack the experience of the veterans, they should not be underestimated!"
Ye Hai was astonished. He recalled that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver had been dissected by the human government in the films, but apparently, that wasn't the case in reality. This meant that the narrative of X-Men was rather chaotic and bore more resemblance to comic book plots. He hoped this world wouldn't follow the comics too closely, as many mutants in those stories were exceedingly powerful, often capable of cataclysmic destruction, even threatening the universe.
