Marvel's Magic Master: I Have a Clone in the Harry Potter World!

Chapter 118: Chapter 118: The Unforgivable Curses and Fiendfyre Curse

The next morning, Snape arrived early at the Slytherin common room to issue an important notice to all the Slytherin students.

"Starting today, all students must return to their house common rooms by 6 PM.

No student is permitted to leave the dormitories after this time.

Each class will be accompanied by a teacher escort.

No student may use the restrooms without teacher supervision.

All Quidditch practices and matches are postponed, and no evening activities will be conducted."

As Snape escorted the Slytherin students to breakfast in the Great Hall, George approached him and asked:

"Professor, has the basilisk been found yet?"

"No," Snape replied, his expression grim. "The castle's pipes have been searched thoroughly, but all we found were some shed basilisk scales. We haven't located its lair.

Dumbledore has been temporarily suspended by the school board. He went to the Ministry of Magic in London last night and hasn't been allowed to return.

Until we find the basilisk and the true heir of Slytherin, the school might have to shut down temporarily.

Prepare yourself for this possibility. If the school does close, and you encounter any issues with your studies, you can find me at Spinner's End."

A school closure meant that all professors and students would have to leave. Aurors from the Ministry of Magic would then be dispatched to conduct a thorough search of the castle until the basilisk was found and killed.

However, since even Dumbledore couldn't locate the Chamber of Secrets, Snape doubted the Aurors could do better. He anticipated a prolonged closure.

As Slytherin's most gifted and promising student, George had Snape's utmost attention. He didn't want George's studies to be disrupted by these events.

"Thank you, Professor," George nodded, his eyes flashing briefly with resolve.

Since Dumbledore was stuck in London, this gave George the perfect opportunity to sneak into the Restricted Section of the library to study dark magic.

After breakfast in the Great Hall, Harry, Ron, and Hermione found George again.

"I've decided to tell Dumbledore about hearing the basilisk and the diary. Maybe that will help catch it," Harry said decisively after a night of contemplation.

But George shook his head.

"This morning, I learned from the Professor Snape that Dumbledore has been temporarily suspended and is currently detained at the Ministry of Magic in London. He won't be back anytime soon."

"That's terrible! With Dumbledore gone, the attacks might happen even more frequently!" Ron exclaimed, visibly panicked. Harry and Hermione also frowned deeply, their unease evident.

Sensing their distress, George changed the subject:

"Let's take a few days to think things through. Maybe we can uncover more clues.

For now, I plan to visit Hagrid. Since we've confirmed the basilisk is the creature from the Chamber and not Aragog, the accusations against Hagrid back then are clearly unfounded. He shouldn't face any further consequences."

"Let's go together!" Hermione eagerly volunteered, surprising Harry and Ron. Hermione's unusual enthusiasm didn't go unnoticed.

After breakfast, George and the trio headed to see Hagrid.

It was Sunday, and there were no classes.

From Hagrid, they learned that the Ministry had informed him that morning that the prohibition against him using a wand had been lifted.

Though Dumbledore was suspended, he had provided evidence proving the basilisk, not Aragog, was the monster from the Chamber of Secrets. The Ministry had, therefore, overturned its earlier judgment and restored Hagrid's right to use a wand.

Hearing this good news lifted the trio's spirits slightly.

By the time they returned to the castle, it was nearly noon. George found an excuse to part ways with the trio, obtained a note from Lockhart, and headed to the Restricted Section of the library.

This time, the unsettling feeling of being watched was gone.

"Avada Kedavra, Fiendfyre Curse, Imperius Curse, Cruciatus Curse—here I come!"

Coordinating with his counterpart in the Marvel world, George began copying the forbidden magic spells he had long avoided.

Memorizing and mastering the intricate and obscure dark spells in a single afternoon was unrealistic, but he could record them for future study.

He spent the entire afternoon until 5:30 PM copying spells. Then, borrowing a regular book as a cover, he nonchalantly left the library.

For the next few days, George refrained from returning to the Restricted Section. Once was enough. Any more visits might arouse suspicion. Besides, he had already gathered all the spells he wanted in that one session. Now, it was time for gradual learning and practice.

Summer quietly approached. The castle's skies and the nearby lake shimmered with a purple-blue hue, and the greenhouses blossomed with flowers as large as cabbages.

Yet, the castle's atmosphere grew increasingly tense.

With Dumbledore gone, fear spread like wildfire. Every laugh in the corridors sounded strained and out of place, only to be quickly suppressed.

One Saturday, George secretly practiced dark magic in a secluded area of the Forbidden Forest.

"Turns out it's not that simple!"

By noon, he sighed and began making his way back to the castle.

Advanced dark spells like the Fiendfyre Curse and the Unforgivable Curses were far too complex for self-study alone. His efficiency was abysmally low.

But it wasn't as if he could approach any of the professors, not even Snape, for help.

"Maybe I need an expert in this field," George mused.

At that moment, he recalled the fragment of Voldemort's soul within the diary.

Though just a 16-year-old version of Voldemort's soul, it would still possess considerable knowledge of dark magic—more than enough to teach a novice like him.

Previously, George hadn't considered this option because the risk of seizing the diary was too great. Dumbledore might discover him, or worse, the soul fragment might overpower him.

But now things were different. With Dumbledore detained at the Ministry, George had ample time to plan his move.

Moreover, with his current strength—especially his proficiency in light magic to counteract darkness and curses—it wouldn't be easy for a mere fragment of Voldemort's soul to influence him.

Walking back to the castle, George's mind churned with a new plan.

He wasn't the kind to stick rigidly to outdated strategies. Plans needed flexibility to adapt to new strengths and opportunities. As his power grew, so too would his ambitions evolve.
