Chapter 6: Kusanagi's Chipped Edge
/What! Its actually me!? Yes, yes it is, I wasn't lying when I told you about the inconsistent upload schedule. Anyway, here's the usual warning, expect problems with grammar, pacing, character personality or lack of there for, runaway sentences, overly detailed sentences, or lack of there for, and last but not least, don't expect this to be any godly writing; its mediocre at most. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter, Toodles.\
A Distant Memory
Chisaki
"Chisaki, glad you could make it," came the firm yet gentle words of the boss, his aged face bearing a gentle smile I'd often seen when he spoke to someone he held far dearer than most.
Walking in, I returned conversation, "Boss, you and I know well that any direct call from you means halting any and everything one is doing to heed the call," I said while thanking the past me for thinking of the mask, as I wasn't that good at hiding embarrassment yet.
The boss chuckled and waved me off, "Now, Now, Chisaki, there's no need to take it so seriously, I'm sure waiting just a few extra minutes wouldn't hurt my old soul like you think it would."
"No... it cost you far more than that..."

An Hour Before The Duos Encounter
Overhaul/Chisaki
My luck was a godsend most of the time and now was no different, as my relief was palpable when I opened my eyes to find the neatly arranged decorations on the ceiling, its indication telling me we had gotten to the safe house before any hero or cop could arrive.
Pulling my hand out from under the multiple layers of blankets covering most of my body, I rubbed the sleep from my eyes before taking a gander around the room, its bare form containing very little, a preference if I was being honest.
However, something the room contained did make me feel somewhat better, as it was nice seeing Eri snuggled up in blankets of her own curled up in a rocking chair fast asleep.
It was almost enough to make me forget about the boss's headless coups lying on the wooden floor... Almost.
Grunting, I sat up, my body sore and tired; this was a surprise because I was sure I had remade my body anew before I fell unconscious, but maybe that was because I wasn't training enough with my quirk, and some kind of side effect had reared its ugly maw in wake of my constant use in the battle against Chimera.
Sighing, I got up from the futon and made my way over to the door; it was best to leave the random thoughts for later, because as of right now, I had to go deal with the inevitable fallout the boss's death would cause, and my gut was telling me it was already starting to get grim.
Sneaking down the hall, I followed the Blaring voices of the remaining Shie-Hassaikai members, each clear voice heard making my suspicion of the current state of the group even more clear than my gut told me.
"What are we going to do now!" I heard someone shout.
"It's over!" I heard another cry out.
"Can you all shut up!" Another shouted his voice trying to be the voice of reason, but even now I can tell the effort was fruitless.
As shambled as it was in there, I was confident that my presence would shut most of them up.
My point and view was validated when I entered the room, the sliding of the door catching everyone's attention.
With all eyes on me, I spoke out while making my way over to the place where the boss would be sitting had he still been with us today.
"Crying and screaming helps nothing, so unless you have something of value to say, then keep your mouth shut and listen, as I will only say this once."
Everyone seemed to get the memo and were almost desperate for guidance, something plainly obvious to me.
After glancing around the room, I continued, "The boss is dead."
I could practically hear hurt appear on their faces at the blunt statement, but I wasn't done yet.
"Stop looking pathetic," there was an instant reaction to my blatant insult, and there were a few members who looked ready to attack, however, I wasn't going to let their anger interrupt me, so I continued," We need to be strong now, and only when we rise again can we bath in the weakness and sorrow we feel now," I spoke with an unapologetic glare.
The people who looked ready to attack me let up a bit and opted to look at the floor in rage, something we needed now, more than ever.
"Your angry right?" I questioned.
There were screams and shouts for bloody murder as most of the members started calling for heads.
I smiled, and the room settled, every single pair of almost thirty sets of eyes solely focused on me, and I found that somewhat understandable, as my smile was a rarity in the group, but it was probably because most of the time a smile from me meant I had a plan.
Now was no exception.
Standing up, I let a bit of my own rage trickle out, letting it guide my words as I continued, "Listen up!" I roared, "We lost so much today that it would be almost impossible for anyone to recover!"
The group was getting riled up the more I shouted.
"However! We aren't just someone! We are the Shie Hassaikai! We are one of the only groups who made it through the old era and came out unscathed and intact!"
Everyone screamed in pride and anger at the mention of the past endeavors.
I continued roaring, "We have taken blow after blow after blow in this new age! We've had our members seized! And many more killed by it! But did we let that stop us from pushing forward!? NO! We persevered! We fought and we bled! We killed and saved! And now the age of the new are trying to kill us off?!"
Each member roared just as I was.
"Then I say no more!" I continued, "I'm done letting the new age push, shove, and downplay us like we are nothing but trash! I'm tired of this era and its so-called Hero's! and its gutter trash that like to call themselves Villain's! Well, I say no more! If this era wants us gone then it will have to die for it!"
Each man and woman in the crowd grew more and more angry and motivated with each word.
Knowing this to be my last statement, I pumped my voice to the max, "SO HERE IS MY VOW! THIS AGE WILL FALL! AND THE AGE OF THE SHIE HASSAIKAI WILL RISE!!"
Everyone's anger had dissipated and had turned into molten magma full of nothing but rage-filled motivation.
The Shie Hassaikai were coming back, whether the world liked it or not, and this time around, they weren't going to be so nice, I was going to make sure of it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the group dispersed for the night, I personally started the first step of rebuilding, literally and metaphorically. By dawns rise, the once safety shelter had been turned into a near identical copy of the compound, with only the layout of the underground being vastly different from the old one; however that was only half of step one, the next half was going to be the harder part, recruiting.
A ding sounded from his dirty pocket, most of his person having been covered in dirt and grime, from the multitude of trees he deconstructed and reconstructed into buildings, turning the once vast forest around the once little shack into something that looked like it belonged to a massive clan from the Pre-Quirk era, and the shack was no exception, as it and the somewhat decent underground system where both extended in there own right.
Unlocking the phone he was going to thoroughly wipe down later, he smiled as he watched the latest news, "Maybe this recruitment process won't take as long as I thought."
Putting the phone back in my pocket, I grinned, "An unknown, character that was able to keep up and defeat the rabbit hero in hand to hand... Perfect."

Present
Null/Izuku
Dodging the gut punch from hell the rabbit hero was trying to deliver, I could only grunt in pain while thinking about the hell I went from having a nice breakfast to needing to do everything in my power to not get gut-punched; I'd already lost the rest of my breakfast, I wasn't trying to lose the rest to the floor of my basement.
Dodging another throw, I wasn't prepared for her lethal leg-to-shoulder check me, and this resulted in me getting sent into a wall about ten feet away, an imprint of my body being permanently engraved in it.
Prying myself free I gasped for the air that was knocked out of me, which was soon received.
Hearing the hero walk over, I slowly stood, "Why are we doing this again?"
The hero sneered, "Because you're weak and slow, plus I was super bored. So I figure it would be fun to bull-" she cleared her thought, "I mean train you."
"Right," I said while drawing it out, "And this training you speak of involves you gut-punching me over and over?"
She grinned, "You bet; can't learn to dodge if you don't have an excellent motivator to do so."
As stupid as that sounds, I couldn't help but see the logic in it.
Plus, she wasn't wrong about me being weak, at least in close combat, as it was the field of attack I used the least, and basic military physical training can only take you so far in the world of quirks; that fact showed itself a lot during the times she landed hits on me.
Each punch of hers felt like it was going to break something, and those punches were severely dulled down. I knew they were because one, she told me outright before we started this game of cat and mouse, and two, back when I first fought her, I could feel her punches through the battle suit; to put some perspective on that, the suit has built-in shock absorption.
It could absorb up to 70% of any blunt attack before it would start to struggle to contain the stored energy.
I zoned out while thinking of the hero's true strength; this didn't boed well with the hero as she punched me in the gut again before clicking her teeth and walking back upstairs, leaving me to ponder on some things.
But there was one thing I thought about in particular, could I actually get her to train me seriously?
Catching my breath, I looked at the date, I had withdrawn my services for an extended period, and wouldn't be accepting any more contracts until my arm healed up the rest of the way; the healing quirk used on me wasn't the best by any means, so there were some side effects.
I was unable to determine the exact nature of those side effects, but one constant was the random bouts of nausea and blurry vision.
Shaking my head of the thoughts, I sighed, making up my mind in the process. "Well, the worst she can say is no, so I suppose there isn't really any reason not to ask."
Getting up, I followed after the guest slash hostage, it was starting to get really difficult to describe which one she was.
After climbing the stairs and locking the door behind me, I walked down the hall. The windows in each room did well to light up it and the rest of the house. Stopping between the kitchen and living room, I found the rabbit hero watching the news, her attention all but glued to the latest news.
I cringed at what they were discussing; the channel was discussing, and I quote, 'Latest defeat of the 5th highest ranked hero in Japan, Miriko, the rabbit hero,' end quote.
Walking up, I kept silent as they talked about the situation, discussing what might be happening to the hero, and what could've caused her defeat; hell there was even some talk of her being dead.
Yet even through this, the hero herself said nothing, keeping that temper of hers in check, which came as a surprise to me because even with the measly day I'd spent with her, I could tell her personality was that of the hotheaded variety.
As I continued to watch the news, I was shocked to hear them start shit-talking the hero, calling her a waste, a monster, and a hore; with that one coming from the female caster. I could practically feel the jealousy leaking from the screen.
Looking away from the Tv, I found that the rabbit hero had forgone the tv and now was on her phone; which one, what the fuck, and two, where the fuck was she keeping the damn thing?
I didn't know why but the more I listened to the casters speak, the more I wanted them to die; a dark thought peaked its head out at my admitence.
'It wouldn't be hard, all you'd need to do was use your quirk.'
I pondered on the dark thought, and the more I did so, the more I leaned into the idea. It didn't take long for me to make up my mind.
Now the targets were about two cities away, but with my quirk, it shouldn't be too hard to make two shots.
Kneeling down, I reached under the couch and felt around for an indent, once I found this indent I pressed down in the middle, feeling a latch of some kind falling loose.
The hero had gotten curious as to what I was doing and had started watching at some point, but I didn't care and just kept going. Eventually, I pulled a 30-06 Springfield rifle out from underneath, its chamber unloaded for safety reasons.
Standing, I heard the rabbit hero whistle before she spoke, "Damn, haven't seen one of those since the day I snuck into UA's armory," she said while grinning, hero eyes seemingly lost in the past.
Not paying her words too much attention at the time, I hummed back and continued what I was doing, and it wasn't until I was digging around in a cupboard sitting not too far from the TV that I registered what she said.
Turning around, I couldn't hide my surprise at the statement, "Armory?"
She smiled a sinister smile before answering, "You bet."
Shaking my head, I completely forgot what I was doing in favor of thinking of an armory at UA, of all places; looking back at my rifle, I sighed.
After putting the rifle back where I got it, I went to my room to get dressed; almost thirty minutes later, and I was fully decked out in an exact copy of the suit that dumbass doctor cut up, black fingerless gloves back in place.
Looking at the rabbit hero, I couldn't help but smirk, as her face was slightly flush, and I was quick to point that out to her.
"Want to take a picture?" I asked with a grin.
However the grin was soon wiped off my face when she grabbed her phone and did exactly that; this brought me, the guy who was able to completely suppress emotion, to a blush.
Looking away in embarrassment, I was soon faced with an unyielding torrent of teasing.
"Well, would you like at this; even the sarcastic bastard can feel embarrassment," Her smile turned somewhat sadistic, "And here I thought I'd have a decent challenge cracking you."
Clicking my teeth, I looked back, staring into her ruby eyes with some anger, however, the anger was soon squashed as an idea replaced it, leaving me to speak.
Grinning, I started making my way to the door, "We'll see if you still have that attitude when I get Nezu up here."
I could feel her smirk fade almost immeadielty after mentioning Nezu's name; I swear, his name was like a curse that could make anyone stutter, and it seemed the rabbit hero was no exception.
As I was about to walk out the door, an unexpected pair of very deadly legs wrapped themselves around my neck once more and I could feel the oxygen dissipate from my lungs.
From there a struggle ensued, with it only being settled later when both me and her were sitting in my Hennessey Venom f5 going over 110mph down the almost deserted road.
There was at least 4 hours of travel before we got to the Shizuoka prefecture, so I could only hope the hero didn't decide to do anything stupid on the way; the news already put to much attention on me as it was.

All For One
"What an interesting turn of events, wouldn't you agree doctor?"
There was a short pause before a short older man responded, "The most intriguing indeed master, to think the quirk was almost activated due to his dislike of someone's insults about his hostage," He said while scribbling down some notes, possibly thinking of how to test this theory.
However my mind was somewhere else, as I thought back to Null's time with me, his fierce glare trying to dig holes through me at every waking moment he spent talking to me.
This situation brought me back to when I first discovered why he glared at me so much.
I couldn't help but smile at the recollection, "I see, your attached, aren't you... Null."
My smile grew manic as I began to wonder how far I could take this bound of his before he'd break again, "How far are you willing to go for this bound Null?"

Unknown
A figure lathered in blades all over sat perched on a tree deep in the forest, his red clothing swaying in the gentle winds as his marred face turned to watch the oncoming storm, its dark clouds swirling violently.
The smell of rain rooting through the air as an early warning of the mess to come.
Looking back, he scoffed.
"Its a shame, you could have been a decent hero had you not gone down the path of villainy."
Jumping down, I pulled my blades from the masked boys chest, his gasmask leaking blood from the seams.
"Truly a pity."
With that, the man covered in red and blades jumped away, leaving the corps of the misfortunate boy behind to be eaten by the wild life.

Nezu/Nezu
Sipping my tea, I chuckled, "The roster grows."
