Chapter 68- You won’t turn against us, right?
Standing on a damp field in between countless trees could be seen the figure of a single girl in her late teen, currently using a mana-oriented whip to eradicate whatever came within the radius of thirty meters.
Wearing a white shirt tucked beneath her black high-waist pants which gave off the outline of her curvaceous figure, the girl aggressively killed each and every inhumane beast that approached her with the sole purpose of devouring the girl.
Despite such a fact, the girl was unfazed by her surrounding as she diligently continued her job as the top hunter of the Vanguard.
“Hupp!”
With a soft grunt, Kaori wrapped two low-rank wolves approaching from her backside in her whip before channeling her mana in it and bringing an end to their pitiful lives.
By now she has grown accustomed to death and killing these beasts from the third realm was not something she found struggling despite being engaged in a battle for eight hours.
Once in a while, these wile creatures crawl through dimensions and start rampaging around. It becomes a hassle if they attack settlements since apart from casualties; it takes a lot of time to erase the memories from the civilians who get to see these otherworldly beings.
Thankfully this time the portal opened on the outskirt of a jungle in South Africa. Since the scale of the ambush was quite high, Kaori responded to the distress call and ended up where she currently was.
“Hmmm…”
Sensing a grave presence approaching which probably was around [A] rank, Kaori became slightly tensed since she have used up quite an amount of her mana.
She indeed was a [S] rank hunter but there was a limit to how much she could go through without severely obliterating her surroundings. And sensing her mana it seemed it was not possible to use her skill without injecting herself with the Mana refill that the organization provides.
Biting her lips in annoyance since she didn’t expect to retort on such means, Kaori took out a silver slim syringe from her pouch as she sensed the massive creature advancing at a rapid pace.
Just as she was about to pierce the needle through her shirt into the arm, she heard a whisper.
“It’s quite harmful, you know…”
Every single hair strand stood straight as Kaori heard the voice just beside her right ear. She never realized when someone approached so close despite being on high alert. And if the person was able to sneak up to this point without giving a trace meant he was not someone she could handle.
But wait…
Kaori did her best to not let her expectation and anxiety show on her face as she stiffly turned her head in the direction from where she heard. Like a blooming flower a smile made way on her face as she limply leaned onthe man like she has lost all her strength.
“Kei….”
Only the name left her lips as she rested herself against someone she could never have expected right now. By no means she was not happy about his visit but due to constant fighting, she knew her current appearance might not be best to havein front of him.
Nevertheless, the overwhelming happiness to see her lover after so long erased all the other emotions she has as she found his hand encircling her waist and inviting her to grow even closer.
Kaori took up on the offer and dwelled her face in his broad chest as she took a full whiff of his smell. A small frown appeared on her brows but soon she discarded it and asked something else.
“Why are you in this form?”
Currently, the adult version of Kei was in front. Kaori admits that this face was handsome but Kei’s high schooler self was adorable as well. Maybe she was being silly but each face of him was to her liking.
Hearing Kaori’s query, Kei looked around awkwardly as first he thought to dodge the question but soon revealed the fact.
“The other one is a bit shorter than you so I thought….”
A big grin spread on her lips as she heard such an amusing reason that she could have never thought of by herself. Despite knowing who he actually was, whenever he said something like this, Kaori once again realizes that Kei was still the same as she has known him.
Wrapping her hand around him she dug her face even deeper, making Kei a little bit startled since her sweat along with her natural fragrance was profoundly permeating at the moment.
“Ah…”
“Don’t worry. Just stay here.”
Sensing the creature which was now finally visible to them, Kaori tried to separate herself and attack the incoming Minotaur. But Kei patted her head and asked her to remain calm.
Kaori knew Kei was strong but there still lingered some stress as the gruesome figure of ten feet tall monster finally arrived in front of them.
*GUUUUUUOOOOH-KHK*
The Minotaur roared at the top of its lungs as it tried to smash its hammer down the two prey in front when suddenly its whole body went numb. Or more like it was no longer in its control.
Kaori widened her gaze as she saw the body of the creature being lifted off the ground with a slight flick of Kei’s wrist before the bullhead started convulsing all over followed by the contraction of the big body of the monster levitating like a broken kite.
Her gaze remained widened as for the first time she heard such a high-level monster crying but nothing affected Kei as he slowly yet mercilessly rolled his finger and on the other side, the minotaur curled into a small ball, already dead to make any more sound.
As Kei finally formed a fist, the humungous body of the monster was curled in a huge sphere of what remained lifeless matter.
Under her shocked haze, she found a small black flame emerging in front of Kei’s rounded lips before he blew it calmly.
“Fuu.”
The serene blowing of the flame was followed by a horrifying ablaze as the rounded-up minotaur was burned to the crisp within seconds and what was left there was only plain air. Not even ashes remained...
Kei could have done it better by just blowing it away or something like that but he thought of having a check-up of his psychic powers. Alas…he needs to train a little bit.
“Let’s go-“
“Hey, Kei.”
As soon Kei turned toward Kaori he saw her downcast look before he heard her voicing his name in a heavy tone.
Tilting his head he hummed in question.
Biting her lips, Kaori ushered the words which came first when she saw his actual might for the first time.
“You…you won’t turn against humanity right?”

A/N;- Many might not like her for asking something like this but she has given all her life for her people's safety. It was natural for her to ask such a thing.
