Chapter 29: planning
"Fuck timeline," I muttered, glaring at the scattered notes on my desk. Trying to piece together the chaotic sequence of events in my life and Naruto's was proving to be a maddening exercise.
With a sigh, I grabbed a fresh page. "Let's try this again."
Timeline (as I recall it):
Graduated the Academy.
Became a Chūnin at 6.
Assigned to Team 7 under Minato at 9.
Became a Jōnin somewhere between 10 and 12.
Lost an eye.
Obito dies.
Rin dies.
Minato becomes Hokage.
Joined the ANBU.
Tasked with protecting Kushina.
The Nine-Tails attack.
I paused, staring at the timeline. It seemed straightforward enough, but...
"What about the time Naruto travelled to the past?" I tapped my pen against the paper, recalling that peculiar incident. "In that version, I wasn't cold or alone. And Obito and Rin weren't there. So... does that mean it happened before I was assigned to Minato's Team 7?"
I frowned, my head beginning to ache. "But that would mean I was working with Minato before forming Team 7."
I remembered flipping between teams due to my young age before finally settling into Team 7. And then there was the whole Chūnin thing.
"I remember beating Guy to earn the rank," I muttered. "But we're the same age—same as Obito and Rin. That shouldn't have been possible, at least not in this world."
Groaning, I tossed the page aside. "And let's not even start on the Snow Princess arc. Where does that even fit in? Somewhere after the Nine-Tails attack, maybe?"
Leaning back in my chair, I rubbed my temples. "Kishimoto really didn't clarify any of this. It's like trying to solve a puzzle with half the pieces missing."
Gathering the notes, I crumpled them into a ball before burning them with a simple Fire Release technique. Writing it all down was a risk, but sometimes it helped me process everything.
That's why I was alone in my room, doors locked and windows sealed.
Lying on my bed, I sighed. "I wish someone could tell me the timeline properly."
Three years.
That's how long I had before being officially assigned to Team 7. This year, I planned to participate in the Chūnin Exams.
But all of this was secondary. What mattered were the people, objects, and events that were true game changers like the Dragon Veins and Mukade. How had Mukade learned the technique for time travel? Then there was the Ōtsutsuki on the moon.
And Kara.
They'd been hidden deep, secretly influencing the ninja world. I knew that unless I gained strength beyond Kage level, I'd have to keep a low profile.
I smirked, thinking about my plans for the future. "I've already started laying the groundwork. A group, an organization of my own."
Of course, that would require members.
"Luckily, the last gacha spin gave me plenty to work with."
Last Gacha Results:
1. Evil Eye
2. Background Customization Card x8
3. Soldier Boy's Shield
4. Contract Card x15
5. Harry Potter Glasses
6. Scar Bones
7. Broken Batarang
8. Dragonglass
9. Rate Reduction Card
10. Traveling Card: Highschool of the Dead (1 Month)
Evil Eye is a long-term asset. Its abilities would prove invaluable as I progressed.
Background Customization Cards: Perfect for adjusting the histories of any future recruits—whether in this world or others. Of course, there were limitations. I couldn't just bring someone and make them Hokage overnight.
"I was hoping for the serum," I thought, a wry smirk tugging at my lips. "Maybe even become the Homelander of the Naruto-verse."
Contract Cards would allow me to bind people from other worlds as my summons.
Scar Bones from The Lion King and Dragonglass from Game of Thrones were useless.
Rate Reduction Card: Perhaps the most valuable. It allowed me to reduce the cost of a specific card type by one point. I'd chosen Normal Cards, cutting their cost from 4 points to 3. Now, I could spin for 10 cards every month, saving ten days per spin.
Traveling Card: Highschool of the Dead: A one-month pass to that world.
I was hoping for a world like Demon Slayer to start, but this one is fine too.
I plan to travel after my next spin in two days. This time, I'll choose normal mode again it's the best option for now.
Of course, I also need to decide who to bring back with me, if anyone. Everything depends on the timeline I arrive at.
Then there's the matter of what to do once I get back.
I'm alone not just as an individual, but as a clan. The entire Hatake clan is dead.
Some of them were still alive after my father, Sakumo, passed, but they either went missing or died on missions shortly after.
The property they left behind? Confiscated by the village.
Now, I'm the only one left carrying the Hatake name.
So yeah I am a clan leader without members.
Not that I'm planning to bring my summons into the clan. It would mean entering the politics.
But taking them as servants? That's different. It's not uncommon to have a cook or someone to clean the house.
Not that there's much to hide in the house. The ANBU have already swept through every corner.
What's left are the basics money and the jutsu entrusted to me.
Even the shops once owned by the Hatake clan were "reallocated" to the village. Supposedly, it was my father's decision, but I know better.
I didn't argue, though. Showing my bad side wasn't worth it at the time.
But I'll remember all of this.
Now, let's focus on the pros and cons of HsOTD:
Advantages:
I can gather resources gold, food, and other essentials.
Possible summons.
Weak summons can still be used as pawns .
Collect zombies for experimentation .
No need to hold back; I can go all out.
Disadvantages:
No supernatural elements to exploit.
Potential summons might be non-useful .
All in all, although there's no real danger for me, it's better to stay on guard and make full use of everything the world has to offer.
