My next life as the Winter Fox? I just want a carefree life

53 – The Fallen Hero

~Many years ago~

"Yosh! It's a success. Finally my creation is complete! Battle model Gamma! Can you hear me?"

"Affirmative."

Long ago there was a master craftsman. He was a dwarf and has mastered the art to create Magitech Dolls. It all started when he heard that humanity was able to summon so-called heroes.

But was it really ok to trust the fate of their world to complete strangers? No. If you want something done right, do it yourself. He created an automaton. The One Who Destroys. Code name: Gamma.

Unlike his previous creations, the dwarf has given Gamma the strongest fighting mobility and weapons amongst all automatas. Normally a Magitech Doll has a power source that occasionally, like a battery, needs charging. That is usually done by absorbing mana in the air. However what made Gamma a masterpiece was her Perpetual Core.

Her internal Core had various gears attached to it that grant energy from an automatic wind-up system without any loss. The energy gained will be converted into heat and stored inside her body.

"Now listen, Gamma. Here are your orders: You must protect the weak! When people are in danger, your goal is to protect their lives. Protect life at all cost!"

For such a genius man, he didn't realize that those orders would be his downfall.

"Understood."

Initially being created as a bioweapon to battle against anyone who would bring harm to the dwarves, Gamma had no emotions or feelings other than killing the demons and protecting life. She used to have a composed demeanor, carrying an expressionless face most of the time, and keeping a cool head in decision making and planning.

She stuck to the mission that was incorporated in her. Throughout her life, she defeated many powerful and evil beings, thus being famously proclaimed as a Bio Hero and acknowledged as "The Strongest Being" by the dwarves.

Over time, though, Gamma gradually changed as she came to the conclusion that there isn't any reason to kill more demons.

"Guuaaah! Gamma, have you lost your mind? I'm your maker! Listen to me!"

"I have no such directive."

"What's up with you? This isn't your mission."

"My mission is to protect those in need. The demons have been pushed back. At this point their women and children are all pleading to be spared, but you keep on marching as if wanting to exterminate them. From what I can tell, right now… the demons are the ones that need protection."

Gamma killed her maker. She began developing a unique personality. Constantly switching sides. She would always tilt the balance of a race, until eventually, no race would trust her. It was almost like she herself has put a race in danger only to be able to save it later.

And thus, she became the Fallen Hero. No race would want her help anymore. There was a point in time when she made various calculations.

"No matter how hard I fight, the races do not wish for peace. Fact: they desire destruction. They will not be satisfied until the other side is completely wiped out.

Protecting one race over the other has proven inefficient. This world itself is foul. Computing…

Must protect life. Yet if the races themselves are the ones that put life in danger, then only one conclusion can be reached: the world must be destroyed.

Analyzing. Select a few who share the same thought process and spare them. Then, cleanse the world by generating a global cataclysm. The Goddess of Creation can then rebuild the world into a proper paradise.

It is the most efficient way to preserve life. Conclusion reached."

And so ever since, the Magitech Doll Gamma has lurked in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to deploy her plan of salvation.

~Present day~

"Alright, little girl. Ready for your spanking?"

"Wait. Although Shamoa rejected my offer, I will present it to you as well.

This world is beyond salvation. Humans don't want peace with the Mazoku. They want war. Even if one side is annihilated, the fighting won't stop. It's in their nature to forever fight. Life can't flourish."

I fold my arms as I listen to her story.

"Can't say you aren't right. I myself am pretty fed up with the web of lies the humans of this world have spread. You most likely are right. It's stupid and dumb and the fighting won't stop."

"Accordance detected. It seems we are on the same wavelength. That is good. Then is it correct to assume you are not concerned with their fate?"

"Why would I be? I have no attachments, nor am I that big hearted to care about their fate. I ain't a hero of justice so I don't get involved in other people's business."

"Your thought process is similar to my own in that case. I will then extend my hand to you. Join me. Help me destroy this world. We will eradicate the corruption. Humans, Mazoku, Legion… everyone must die for life to continue.

Join me."

She raised her hand and made a gesture as if wanting to accept me. She was waiting for a handshake.

"Well… about that… no thanks."

"Rejection? Why?"

"The answer is simple. I really don't care what happens to this world. All I care about is for me to be satisfied and do whatever I want. Besides, there are still many dishes I haven't tried out. Think of the food that has yet to be discovered.

So sorry. I can't go along with that. But don't worry. I'll knock you out and reprogram you."

"...

Reanalyzing. Subject is an idiot that thinks with her stomach.

In that case, a mutual agreement can't be reached. I'll have you die here."

Kuh. She's getting serious. The aura around her has changed completely and she was looking at me with bloodlust.

Guess it's time to party. Let's see why Shamoa thinks that my ice won't work on her. Nobody should be able to resist my power, much less an artificial being. I'll freeze all of her circuits and then put that loli body to good use.
