Chapter 29: I Want To Break His Legs
After Yuki Komiya and Ryusei Yamamoto finished training together, they shared dinner at Ryusei's house. Later that evening, Ryusei walked Yuki home.
At Yuki's house, her parents, Yuta and Ayako Komiya, had returned early, planning to surprise their daughter. They had prepared a birthday cake and gifts to make up for their frequent absences.
Standing behind the gate, Yuta Komiya stretched and muttered, "Why isn't Yuki back yet? It's almost dark."
"She should be back soon," Ayako replied calmly.
As footsteps approached, Yuta perked up. "She's back, she's back! Quick, light the candles and get the gifts ready," he urged. Waving the household staff away, he added, "You can all leave now."
But as Yuta peeked through the crack in the door, his expression darkened. "Ayako, come here and look at this!"
Ayako joined him, her gaze landing on Yuki and Ryusei walking hand in hand. She raised an eyebrow at her husband's agitated face. "Yuta, calm down. Maybe they're just friends, and he's walking her home because it's late."
"Friends?! That kid's holding my daughter's hand! I'll break his legs!" Yuta hissed, already stepping forward.
Ayako grabbed his arm firmly. "Stop it! That's Ryusei Yamamoto, the boy from the Sanmoto family, remember? He's the one who always trains with Yuki. Didn't you say he's from her ninja academy? He's just sending her home."
Yuta gritted his teeth. "That brat! I knew he wasn't up to any good!"
"Rushing out now will only make things worse," Ayako reminded him with a glare. "Do you want to ruin your relationship with Yuki over this?"
Fuming but reluctantly conceding, Yuta stayed put, watching from the shadows.
At the front gate, Ryusei smiled warmly. "It's getting late, Yuki. You should head inside and get some rest."
Yuki nodded, blushing slightly. "You too, Ryusei. Don't overdo your training tonight."
As the two said their goodbyes, Ryusei hesitated for a moment before leaning forward to place a light kiss on Yuki's forehead.
From behind the gate, Yuta froze, his face cycling through white, green, and finally red. "HE KISSED HER! I'LL BREAK HIS LEGS!" he bellowed under his breath, restrained only by Ayako's firm grip.
Meanwhile, Yuki's face turned crimson as she covered it with her hands and dashed into the house. She didn't notice the cake or her parents waiting to surprise her. Instead, she ran straight to her room and buried herself under her covers, heart pounding.
Ryusei, oblivious to the chaos behind the door, turned and walked home with a satisfied smile.
Inside the house, Ayako sighed and relit the candles. "I'll go talk to Yuki first," she said, leaving her fuming husband in the living room.
In Yuki's room, Ayako knocked lightly before stepping inside. "Yuki, come out of that blanket. You'll suffocate in there."
Startled, Yuki peeked out. "Mom! When did you come back?"
"We've been home for a while," Ayako replied with a knowing smile. "We were hiding to surprise you, but it seems the surprise was on us instead."
Realizing what her mother meant, Yuki's face turned even redder. She dove back under the blanket.
Ayako chuckled. "There's no use hiding now. Yes, we saw everything—holding hands, the kiss, all of it."
"Are you angry?" Yuki asked hesitantly, her voice muffled.
"I'm not angry, but your father... well, let's just say it's taking all my strength to stop him from storming out after Ryusei," Ayako teased.
"He wouldn't win anyway," Yuki muttered with a sly smile, peeking out. "Ryusei's a ninja."
Ayako laughed softly. "You're not wrong, but that's hardly the point." She sat beside her daughter. "So, how did this all start?"
Blushing, Yuki recounted the story. "The first time I met Ryusei, some bullies had cornered me and my friends. I tried to help, but I couldn't hold them off. Then Ryusei appeared out of nowhere and scared them off with just a few moves. He looked so cool."
"Since then, he's always protected me. He's taught me ninjutsu, cooked meals for me, and even designed this outfit." Yuki pulled out a Gothic Lolita dress and showed it to her mother.
Ayako's eyes sparkled. "This is adorable! He has quite the talent."
Yuki hugged the dress, her cheeks glowing. "He gave it to me for my birthday. That's the day I confessed my feelings to him, and we've been together ever since."
Ayako blinked in surprise. "You confessed? Yuki, girls should be more reserved!"
"Reserved? If I waited, some other girl would've taken him!" Yuki pouted. "Ryusei's amazing—he can cook, write novels, and he's even stronger than Uchiha Kagami and Hyuga Natsuki. How could anyone not fall for him?"
Ayako chuckled. "He does sound impressive. But you'll have to win your father over first."
Determined, Yuki dressed in her Gothic Lolita outfit and marched to the living room. "Dad, I want to marry Ryusei!"
Yuta's face went pale as the words hit him like a kunai to the chest. "No! Why should that brat marry my daughter?"
"Because I love him," Yuki declared boldly. "Look, Dad! He made this for me, and he always protects me."
Yuta stared at his daughter, overwhelmed by her conviction and cuteness. Tears welled up as he hugged her tightly. "I can't let you go, Yuki!"
"I can't leave you either, Dad!" Yuki cried, holding him just as tightly.
Watching the emotional scene, Ayako rolled her eyes. "Enough already! She's not getting married for at least ten years."
The father-daughter pair paused, exchanged awkward glances, and separated.
Ayako smiled, lighting the candles again. "Now, let's celebrate Yuki's birthday properly."
