Chapter 139: Chapter 139: A New Dawn
"Alright, let's not get too excited. Let's begin," Orochimaru said, staring at Tenseigan and the Red Queen, his eyes practically shining with anticipation. He could hardly wait to test out the virtual world.
"Hold on, let's wait until night. It's important to have a sense of ceremony," Shin interrupted him, smiling.
The moon, created by the Sage of Six Paths, is basically a synchronous satellite, always shining down on the world below, with its rotation and revolution perfectly in sync. Without this moon, the casting of the Infinite Tsukuyomi would be impossible.
Technically, the virtual space could activate regardless of day or night, as its effect isn't visually noticeable during the day. But when the moon is full and bright, the virtual world activation creates a far more dramatic effect at night. Shin felt this significant endeavor deserved a ceremonious debut.
The others agreed and waited until nightfall. Shin was ready to activate the virtual space when the moon's shadow covered the world.
"Red Queen, initiate a final self-check. If everything passes, activate the virtual world."
"Self-check initiated. Progress: 1%... 2%... 100%. Beginning the first test of the virtual world!"
At that moment, everyone worldwide witnessed the moon in the sky radiating an ethereal brilliance, illuminating the world below as if it were daytime. At the same time, an overwhelming surge of chakra swept across the land, a presence powerful enough that every skilled ninja could sense it.
One particular Toad Sage, who was engaged in "gathering intelligence" at a women's bathhouse, was so startled by the immense power that he shouted about the Infinite Tsukuyomi in terror. In his panic, he failed to control his chakra, crashed through the roof, and landed in the bath below.
As Jiraiya scrambled to escape, he found himself not in a bathhouse but seated in a dim conference room.
The room was circular, with a round table and over thirty seats filled with various ninjas. Jiraiya looked around, puzzled. "Wait… Didn't I fall into a bath? Is this the Infinite Tsukuyomi? But isn't it supposed to show people their deepest desires? Why am I at a meeting? Shouldn't I be surrounded by beautiful women?"
Looking around, he noticed several familiar faces—powerful ninjas who could influence the course of the world. Among them were various Kage, elite ninjas, and even S-rank rogues. Even those Jiraiya didn't recognize had an aura that spoke of immense strength, each one exuding enough power to pose a threat, if not to him, then to any ordinary person.
While Jiraiya knew he could likely outmatch most of them, each was skilled enough to command his respect or, at least, his caution.
The other ninjas around the table were just as bewildered, looking at each other in surprise and wariness. Some of them had personal grudges, while others were outright enemies, and if not for the strangeness of the setting, some may have already started fighting.
"What's going on? Who's responsible for this?" the Fourth Raikage, always the quickest to act, smashed his fist against the table with a loud bang. He quickly drew back his hand, rubbing his knuckles subtly, as the table did not yield.
The virtual space was set to maximum strength, with durability akin to the truth-seeking ball, making even the Fourth Raikage's strength ineffective.
Jiraiya frowned, watching the scene closely. "From what I know, only Shin and Orochimaru have the power to pull this off. Could they be behind it?"
"Orochimaru? He could do something like this?" the Fourth Raikage scoffed, his sharp eyes scrutinizing everyone. As for Shin, the Raikage had no idea who he was, dismissing him as unimportant.
"While I helped a bit, Shin is the mastermind behind this grand endeavor, " said a familiar, eerie voice.
Orochimaru entered the room, followed closely by Shin. Leading them was a figure that captured everyone's attention: Hamura Ōtsutsuki.
"A-Ancestor?" Hyuga Hiashi, who had been quietly seated and laying low, suddenly stood up in shock.
While his strength was modest compared to others present, as the head of the long-standing Hyuga clan, Hiashi's status and heritage were significant, nearly rivaling that of the Five Kage. When he addressed Hamura Ōtsutsuki as "Ancestor," all eyes in the room turned to the elderly man.
The ancestor of the Hyuga clan? Jiraiya narrowed his gaze. He had recently sought guidance from the Great Toad Sage, uncovering legends about the Ōtsutsuki clan, but hadn't expected to encounter one of their elders here.
"Hamura-sama!" Hiashi whispered reverently, seeming to confirm his own speculation as he felt the overwhelming power emanating from the elderly man. With awe, he nearly moved to bow but stopped, unsure of how to proceed within this virtual space.
'Hamura Ōtsutsuki… The brother of the Sage of Six Paths!' Jiraiya's heart raced. Could this indeed be the legendary figure from a thousand years ago?
Hamura Ōtsutsuki, however, gracefully withdrew, subtly gesturing for Shin to take center stage.
"It's you, Kurogami! Is this your doing?" the Fourth Raikage demanded coldly.
"Yes, I created the virtual space, and I was the one who summoned all of you here," Shin replied calmly. "However, I've only brought you here temporarily to help everyone acclimate to this new experience."
