Naruto: Reborn in Konoha, Starting with the Drop of Asura's Chakra

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Sponsor and Genjutsu Expert

Even though Sakura's chakra control was of blue-grade rarity—lower than innate battle-ready bloodline limits—in Yagyu's eyes, its practical value rivaled that of red-grade abilities. This talent utterly transformed Yagyu's aptitude for ninjutsu, turning him from an average ninja into a prodigy.

By third grade, Yagyu had already mastered all the ninjutsu left behind by his parents. By the sixth grade, he had perfected the Rasengan and the Spiral Water Tornado, a technique combining the Great Waterfall Jutsu with the Rasengan.

Before even graduating, he had mastered numerous jutsu, including more than two ranked B or higher. This meteoric rise was thanks to his chakra control and the Shadow Clone Jutsu, which allowed him to train multiple techniques simultaneously.

With both talent and diligence, Yagyu could have learned even more jutsu—if only he had access to more scrolls.

As Yagyu adjusted his red-tinted contact lenses to check for displacement, Kurenai smiled warmly.

"Your performance today has left me extremely satisfied," she said. "The day is still young, so let's take on a mission. Afterward, how about I treat you all to barbecue?"

With that, Kurenai transitioned from a mentor-like figure to a sisterly one, gently placing an arm around Hinata's shoulders and walking side-by-side with her students.

On the way, Kurenai's curiosity got the better of her. "Yagyu, how did you develop that hand-sign-free Water Style jutsu?"

Yagyu smiled modestly and replied, "It was more of an inspiration. I came across my father's ninja journal, which explained how walking on walls involved focusing chakra into one's feet. When I tried it myself, I realized I had a natural knack for controlling chakra flow."

"From there, mastering the scrolls left behind by my parents came easily. After enrolling at the academy, I saw pictures of tornadoes in textbooks. The way the wind spiraled gave me an idea: could I gather and rotate chakra in my palm, then use it to form a water or wind vortex?"

"I tried countless times, failing repeatedly. It wasn't until a few months ago that I finally succeeded."

"That's… the genius's intuition, huh?"

Hearing Yagyu's explanation, Kurenai, Shino, and even the usually admiring Hinata were left speechless. The theory seemed simple enough—so much so that their minds whispered, I get it. I've learned it.

Yet their hands protested otherwise: No, you haven't!

Creating a custom, hand-sign-free jutsu was a feat only a prodigy like Yagyu could accomplish.

Suddenly, Kurenai's thoughts took a turn. Inspired by Yagyu's explanation, she recalled an almost mythical hand-sign-free technique.

"Yagyu, have you heard of the Rasengan?" she asked.

Hearing this, Yagyu's inner grin widened. Hooked. The sponsor is here!

Feigning confusion, he tilted his head. "Rasengan?"

Kurenai explained, "The Rasengan is an A-rank jutsu created by the Fourth Hokage. It's also a hand-sign-free technique."

"It involves gathering chakra into a concentrated sphere in the palm, rotating it at high speed. The way you manipulate chakra reminded me of it."

"Concentrated chakra sphere?" Yagyu pretended to be deep in thought before raising his hand. A small blue chakra vortex appeared in his palm, spiraling rapidly but failing to form a proper sphere.

Instead, the vortex compressed into a miniature tornado, which spun for a few moments before exploding outward in a gust of wind that ruffled everyone's clothing.

Though it appeared to "fail," Yagyu acted thrilled. "Kurenai-sensei, I think this method might work!"

"Don't experiment too recklessly," Kurenai warned, patting his shoulder with a smile. "I'll talk to the Fourth Hokage's student and see if I can find detailed instructions on the Rasengan."

"That won't be necessary, Sensei." Yagyu's confidence radiated as he said, "If it's just about forming a high-speed energy sphere, I'm sure I can figure it out."

In that moment, Yagyu seemed to radiate light.

Kurenai, Shino, and Hinata couldn't help but feel the vast chasm between them and Yagyu. His self-assured demeanor and unshakable resolve left them in awe.

Even Kurenai found herself captivated by the twelve-year-old boy who was nearly as tall as her. For a fleeting moment, she understood why Kakashi had been so popular during his academy days. Such an aura was simply irresistible to young women.

Not wanting to dampen his enthusiasm, Kurenai smiled warmly. "Just be careful when you practice. If you can, use Shadow Clones to help."

"Understood, Sensei," Yagyu replied with a polite nod. His respectfulness further endeared him to Kurenai.

At that moment, Kurenai felt Yagyu was not just her most promising student, but also one she could take immense pride in.

As they walked toward the Hokage's office, Yagyu discreetly summoned his game interface, visible only to him. He navigated to his inventory to inspect the blue-grade drop from Kurenai.

The description appeared:

[Genjutsu Specialist (Blue)]

Yagyu's eyes lit up. Based on his experience with Sakura's Chakra Control, he immediately recognized this as another innate talent.

Although Kurenai wasn't as celebrated as elite Jonin like Kakashi, Asuma, or Gai, she was undoubtedly an exceptional Jonin in her own right. Within Konoha, she was renowned as a genjutsu expert.

In hindsight, her lackluster performance in the original storyline was because her opponents were extraordinary prodigies—masters like Itachi Uchiha and Yakumo Kurama, the latter a generational prodigy of her clan. Against such adversaries, Kurenai had no chance.

Yet as an ordinary ninja with no bloodline limit, Kurenai had already reached the pinnacle of what she could achieve.

The Genjutsu Specialist ability was a testament to her talent. Upon fusing with it, Yagyu would become a genjutsu prodigy—even without a Sharingan.

Without hesitation, Yagyu activated the fusion.

The blue orb of light flew from his inventory into his body, seamlessly merging with him. Much like when he had gained the Sharingan bloodline limit, there were no outward changes to his appearance.

But Yagyu knew that when it came time to learn genjutsu, he would experience the difference firsthand.
