Naruto: Reborn in Konoha, Starting with the Drop of Asura's Chakra

Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Spiral Water Tornado – Yagyu’s True Strength

"Spiral Water Tornado!"

As the crashing wave came down, threatening to engulf Yagyu entirely, the water suddenly behaved as if magnetized. It defied gravity, gathering toward Yagyu's raised palm.

In an instant, an enormous spiral of water formed, rotating with incredible force. The spiraling vortex resembled a massive tornado, gouging deep trenches into the ground as Yagyu hurled it toward Kurenai.

The tornado's suction power uprooted plants and debris, pulling the surrounding environment into its rotation. Even Kurenai, standing firm, found herself leaning forward against the pull.

Facing the incoming spiral water tornado, Kurenai, a master of genjutsu, had no defensive techniques capable of countering such raw power. Her only choice was to evade once more with the Body Flicker Technique.

Boom!

The water tornado slammed into the earth, leaving the training ground in ruins and flattening a row of trees in the forest. Kurenai escaped unscathed, but the overwhelming power of the attack left her momentarily stunned.

For Hinata and Shino, hiding in the trees, this display shattered their understanding of ninja abilities. They had never seen such a technique before—one capable of such devastation.

More than that, the technique wasn't just powerful; it was extraordinary for another reason.

"A Water Style technique without hand signs!"

Shino, standing hidden among the branches, muttered in disbelief. Meanwhile, Kurenai, emerging from the shadows, gazed at Yagyu with a mix of astonishment and admiration.

Panting as if exhausted, Yagyu dismissed his shadow clone, feigning fatigue. Kurenai, however, wasn't fooled. The sheer magnitude of what she had witnessed left her shaken.

"This... this is a Water Style jutsu without hand signs?" she thought. Kurenai couldn't recall ever encountering such a technique. What's more, her investigations into Yagyu's background had revealed nothing that suggested he could possess such a jutsu.

"This jutsu," she concluded, "must be his own creation. Is this the world of geniuses?"

Despite her awe, Kurenai remained grounded. She was aware of one glaring weakness: while Yagyu's technique was powerful, it lacked experience and precision. A direct hit could have incapacitated her, but its inefficiencies allowed her to escape unscathed.

The thought that such a prodigy was her student filled Kurenai with pride. Yet she quickly moved to test her students further. Forming seals, she infused her chakra into the air.

"Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death."

Suddenly, Yagyu found himself immobilized. In his perception, massive tree roots sprang from the ground, wrapping tightly around his body and binding him to an enormous tree.

In reality, Kurenai's genjutsu had temporarily paralyzed him. But despite his apparent helplessness, Yagyu smirked. "Sensei, you've already lost."

"Hmm?" Kurenai paused, startled.

Looking down, she saw her belt—where the three bells had been attached—was now empty.

"When did they disappear?" Kurenai thought, mentally replaying the sequence of events. Her memory quickly pinpointed the moment: her attention had been fully absorbed by Yagyu's overwhelming attack.

With a rueful smile, she released the genjutsu on Yagyu. "So that's your plan? I see now. Well done."

"Yes," Yagyu replied, nodding toward the forest. Hinata and Shino emerged, their expressions a mix of awe and pride. "The Spiral Water Tornado is a technique I developed myself. But I knew it wouldn't be enough to defeat a Jonin like you. My job was to distract you, while Shino retrieved the bells."

Shino, stepping forward, produced the three bells. He tossed one to Yagyu and another to Hinata.

Kurenai couldn't help but applaud. "Impressive teamwork. You've passed."

Just as she spoke, a blue light emanated from her body. It coalesced into a glowing orb that floated to the ground. The ethereal sphere shimmered for a moment before it shot toward Yagyu, entering his chest.

Yagyu froze in surprise before a grin crept across his face. It dropped!

In his mind, Yagyu marveled at his luck. The game system's loot mechanic had rewarded him. Even though Kurenai had merely conceded verbally, it triggered the system, resulting in a blue-grade reward.

The orb absorbed into his body, but Yagyu didn't immediately check his inventory. Instead, he deactivated his Sharingan, blinking to ensure his red-tinted contact lenses hadn't shifted out of place.

Yes, Yagyu had already awakened the Sharingan—and not just a basic one. Half a year ago, during intense training, he had entered a state of extreme focus. When he snapped out of it, the world appeared slowed, every movement sharp and clear. That day, his Sharingan awakened directly as a two-tomoe version.

He suspected his remarkable mental energy and the infusion of Asura's chakra played a role in this rapid development.

What Yagyu had spent the past year secretly mastering, however, wasn't just the Sharingan. It was a technique from Naruto's arsenal: the Rasengan.

The Spiral Water Tornado was a combination of the Rasengan and the Great Waterfall Technique. Though the Rasengan was an advanced, hand-sign-less A-rank technique, its training process had been thoroughly documented in the original series. Upon arriving in this world, Yagyu had immediately recorded the method to ensure he wouldn't forget.

Before the system had awakened, Yagyu had believed the Rasengan would be his most powerful jutsu. Advanced forms like the Rasenshuriken or elemental variations seemed far beyond his reach.

After gaining the system and acquiring Asura's chakra, however, Yagyu had doubled down on mastering the Rasengan. Its compatibility with his enhanced chakra reserves made it indispensable.

Initially, Yagyu struggled with the basics of the Rasengan. It wasn't until he received an unexpected drop from Sakura—a Chakra Control enhancement—that his progress accelerated. From that moment, his potential skyrocketed.
