Chapter 80: Chapter 80
Among the woods of Konoha, Satoru stood before Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, scratching his head as he pondered.
"So, what should I teach you first?" he mused aloud. Then, with a sudden idea, he snapped his fingers. "Got it! Do you know your chakra attributes?"
Naruto blinked in confusion. "Chakra has attributes?"
Sakura crossed her arms, glaring at him. "Naruto, were you skipping class again?"
"Hahaha… maybe," Naruto replied sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
Satoru continued, seemingly unbothered by Naruto's lack of knowledge.
"Chakra is essentially a weird blob of energy, and it has certain unique properties—attributes—that vary from person to person. It's like having your own special flavor of chakra."
"Let's test your basic attributes," Satoru announced. "But… how do we test it again?" He paused, scratching his chin.
After a moment of thinking, he clapped his hands.
"Ah, I know!" he said, producing a glass of water from seemingly nowhere. He plucked a leaf off a nearby tree and dropped it into the water.
"This is how we'll test it!"
Naruto and the others exchanged puzzled glances.
"That's… not how I remember it being done," Sakura muttered, eyeing the setup skeptically.
"Don't worry about the details," Satoru said with a grin. "Just release your chakra into the glass of water."
Naruto stepped forward eagerly, placing his hand over the glass.
"Alright, here goes!" he said as he focused his chakra into the water.
The leaf in the cup began to spin rapidly.
"What does that mean?" Naruto asked, his face lighting up with curiosity.
Satoru nodded thoughtfully, stroking his chin.
"Hmm… the spinning leaf? That means you're a wind attribute—yeah, definitely wind!"
Naruto's eyes widened. "Wind attribute! That's so cool!"
Next, Sasuke approached the glass, his skepticism growing.
With a steady hand, he released his chakra into the water. The water rippled violently, splashing over the edges of the glass.
"And this?" Sasuke asked, narrowing his eyes at Satoru.
Satoru tilted his head, inspecting the rippling water.
"That's easy," he said confidently. "You've got a thunder attribute. Very cool, Sasuke."
Sasuke frowned slightly, but Satoru's unwavering tone left little room for argument.
Hidden among the trees, Kakashi observed the scene, his eye narrowing with suspicion.
What kind of nonsense is this? Traits? Operating systems? This isn't how it works!
Kakashi couldn't stay hidden any longer. He leaped down from the treetops, landing gracefully before the group.
"Excuse me," he said, his tone calm but sharp. "What exactly are you teaching them?"
Satoru turned to Kakashi, blinking innocently.
"This is my special method of testing chakra," he replied with a grin.
Kakashi crossed his arms. "Special, huh? Because I've never heard of these 'operating systems' or 'traits' in the elemental classifications we use."
Satoru's grin wavered slightly.
Did I get it wrong? Nah, I'm sure it's fine.
"Well, they're basically the same thing," Satoru said casually, waving off Kakashi's skepticism.
Kakashi's eye twitched. "The same thing? You're just making this up, aren't you?"
Satoru gasped dramatically, placing a hand over his chest. "How could you accuse me of such a thing?!"
Ignoring him, Kakashi turned to the trio. "Let me show you the proper way to test your chakra nature."
He reached into his pouch and pulled out a stack of paper.
"This," he said, holding up a thin slip, "is chakra-sensitive paper. It's made from special trees that absorb chakra. When you release your chakra into it, the paper reacts based on your chakra nature."
Kakashi demonstrated, holding a piece of paper between his fingers. The moment he infused it with chakra, the paper crumpled into a tight ball.
"If your chakra is lightning nature, the paper crumples like this. If it burns, you have fire nature. If it gets wet, it's water nature. If it splits, it's wind. And if it crumbles into dirt, it's earth nature."
He handed a piece of paper to Naruto. "Try it."
Naruto grabbed the paper eagerly, his excitement palpable. He focused hard, channeling his chakra into the slip.
With a sudden tear, the paper split cleanly in two.
"Wind attribute," Kakashi confirmed.
Naruto grinned from ear to ear. "So Satoru was right!"
Kakashi glanced at Satoru, who gave him a smug thumbs-up.
Sasuke was next, and his paper crumpled into a tight ball, confirming his lightning nature.
"So, thunder," Sasuke murmured, glancing at Satoru.
Satoru winked. "Told you I was right!"
Kakashi sighed deeply, rubbing his temple.
Satoru… whoever you are, you're going to be a headache.
Sakura's test revealed her chakra nature as earth, much to her surprise.
"So that's why I've always struggled with fire ninjutsu," she murmured, thinking back to her training.
Kakashi nodded. "Understanding your chakra nature helps you improve your ninjutsu. We'll use this knowledge in your training."
As the group continued to test and learn, Satoru leaned against a tree, watching with a content smile.
"See? My method works," he said, nudging Kakashi playfully.
Kakashi glared at him but said nothing, instead focusing on the students.
In the shadows, unseen by the group, a figure watched silently.
"They're stronger than I expected," the figure murmured, their eyes narrowing. "This Chūnin Exam is going to be interesting."
