Chapter 81: Chapter 81
The atmosphere in the examination room was tense, the room filled with candidates from different villages. Yet, the arrival of Satoru and his companions drew immediate attention.
Satoru, with his mysterious black robe and bandaged visage, casually walked in while munching on a skewer of three-colored dango. Hozuki and Shiro followed close behind, their expressions calm but exuding an enigmatic aura.
Satoru's pale blue eyes scanned the room under the bandages as he commented, "Quite the crowd."
"Mr. Bandage!" Naruto's cheerful voice rang out, drawing even more attention.
Satoru waved lazily in response.
Sasuke, standing nearby, shot Satoru a cold glance. His posture was stiff, his irritation still palpable from the previous day.
Ino leaned toward Sakura, her curiosity piqued. "Who's that? Those three look so… weird."
Sakura sighed, rubbing her temples. "The one in the bandages? Apparently, he's one of Sasuke's new 'friends.' Don't ask me for details—I'm just as confused as you are."
Ino's eyes widened in disbelief. "Sasuke? Friends with that? No way."
Shikamaru, standing nearby, observed the trio with a furrowed brow.
"Something's off about them," he muttered, his gaze narrowing.
"What do you mean?" Choji asked through a mouthful of chips.
"I don't know… They're hiding something," Shikamaru replied, still deep in thought.
Meanwhile, the murmurs in the room grew louder.
"Who's that guy in the bandages?"
"He doesn't look like he's from any of the major villages."
"Probably just some random nobody."
Their whispered speculations filled the air, but Satoru seemed unfazed.
"Ugh, what a drag," Shikamaru sighed, already anticipating the chaos these strangers might bring.
As Satoru, Hozuki, and Shiro made their way to Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, a white-haired boy with glasses stepped forward from the crowd.
It was Kabuto Yakushi, his polite smile masking a calculating gaze.
"You might want to tone it down a bit," Kabuto said smoothly, his eyes briefly flicking over Satoru and his companions. "This isn't a picnic. It's an exam, after all."
Kabuto's words were directed at Naruto, but his true focus was on the three outsiders.
Who are they? he wondered. And why are they associating with the targets Orochimaru-sama is observing?
Satoru didn't seem to notice the tension, or if he did, he didn't care. He chewed on his dango, his voice light and nonchalant.
"Motivation? We've got plenty," he replied casually.
His pale blue eyes under the bandages flickered briefly to Kabuto.
So, it's him—Kabuto Yakushi, Satoru thought. Right on schedule, just like in the original storyline.
Kabuto's polite smile didn't falter, but his thoughts churned.
These three… They're not from Konoha, and they don't seem ordinary. Are they part of Orochimaru-sama's plan? Or just a coincidence?
Sakura's mind flashed back to her conversation with Kakashi the previous day.
Flashback
"Sakura, keep an eye on those three," Kakashi had said in a low, serious tone.
"Why, Kakashi-sensei? Who are they?"
"They claim to be from a newly established village called Sweet Ninja Village," Kakashi explained. "But from what I've gathered, that village has a reputation for housing rogue ninjas—ones who use questionable methods to complete missions."
Sakura's expression tightened.
"What about those three specifically?"
"They're infamous on the black market," Kakashi continued, his tone grim. "Apparently, their methods are… unorthodox. Rumor has it they once abducted a princess from another country. Whether or not that's true, I can't say. But they've earned their share of bounties."
"So, they might have an ulterior motive for approaching Naruto and Sasuke?"
Kakashi nodded. "Possibly. Stay close to them and report back if you notice anything unusual."
Sakura snapped back to the present, her sharp gaze locking onto Satoru and his companions.
Are they really dangerous? she wondered.
Kabuto's voice broke her train of thought.
"Well, good luck to all of you," he said with a polite nod. His gaze lingered briefly on Satoru before he turned to walk away, a calculating smirk forming on his lips.
As Kabuto disappeared into the crowd, Satoru turned to his group, his tone light.
"Well, this just got interesting," he said with a grin, finishing his skewer of dango.
Naruto tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean?"
Satoru waved him off. "Don't worry about it, kid. Just focus on the exam."
Sasuke, however, narrowed his eyes. "What are you planning?"
"Me?" Satoru placed a hand over his heart, feigning innocence. "Absolutely nothing."
Sasuke didn't look convinced, but he said nothing more.
The room was abuzz with anticipation, the energy palpable as the proctors entered.
"Alright, candidates, take your seats!" one of the proctors announced, silencing the room.
As the Chūnin Exam officially began, Satoru leaned back in his chair, his bandaged face hiding a small smirk.
Let the games begin.
