-------------------------------------------------------------
As he spoke, Aizen slowly drew Kyoka Suigetsu from his waist. The snow-white blade shimmered coldly under the moonlight, radiating a chilling aura that made everyone feel uneasy.
He raised the blade slowly and held it vertically in front of him, displaying it to the crowd.
Seeing this, everyone was momentarily stunned.
'That move!?'
The familiar action triggered a series of thoughts in everyone's minds.
At that moment, Jiraiya frowned deeply and suddenly spoke in a heavy tone.
"Illusion technique!"
"Master Fukasaku, Lady Shima, this must be the technique Aizen uses to cast illusions! We have to stop him!"
Hearing Jiraiya's words, the people around him were startled. Linking it with Aizen's previous actions, they immediately found Jiraiya's analysis highly plausible.
Aizen, however, remained indifferent, his face calm and adorned with a faint smile.
To him, hypnotizing the two legendary toad sages would suffice, and it wasn't a difficult task.
As Aizen acted, Jiraiya and Dai prepared to attack.
'Boom!"'
Dai disappeared from his spot, kicking up a cloud of dust as he rushed at Aizen.
Jiraiya didn't hesitate either. As he charged, his hands formed seals rapidly, and he murmured,
"Master Fukasaku, Lady Shima, I need your help!"
Upon hearing his call, Fukasaku and Shima, perched on his shoulders, responded gravely.
"Don't worry, Jiraiya-boy, we'll work with you to take him down!"
They began forming seals in sync with Jiraiya.
As the seals were completed, Jiraiya puffed his cheeks and exhaled forcefully.
A stream of pitch-black oil shot toward Aizen. Simultaneously, Fukasaku and Shima each exhaled as well—one releasing a violent gust of wind, the other a burst of scorching flames.
The three elements intertwined, forming a massive, devastating wall of fire.
'Sage Art.Five-Fold Gate!"'
With the infusion of senjutsu chakra, the combined technique's power far surpassed ordinary ninjutsu, appearing incredibly menacing.
As the massive wall of flames surged toward Aizen, Dai closed the distance, intending to restrict Aizen's movements and prevent him from escaping the attack.
Aizen, however, remained calm and murmured softly,
"Shatter, Kyoka Suigetsu."
Time seemed to freeze.
Jiraiya, Fukasaku, Shima, and Dai—each with tense expressions—focused intently on Aizen.
A sound like shattering glass echoed in everyone's minds.
In that instant, an imperceptible ripple spread from Aizen as its center.
The next moment, time appeared to resume.
'Boom!"'
The overwhelming wall of fire engulfed Aizen, while Dai's green aura of chakra intensified as he threw a punch at Aizen.
To his shock, his punch hit nothing but air.
'Boom!"'
The ground collapsed instantly, leaving a massive crater several meters deep. The fiery wall of flames surged forth, heading straight for Dai.
Realizing the danger, Dai's chakra surged, enveloping him in a protective green bear-like aura, and he broke through the fire with brute strength.
'Sizzle!"'
Though white smoke rose from his body in several places, Dai emerged from the flames mostly unharmed, much to the relief of those watching.
He landed steadily on the ground, looked at the flames still raging in the crater, and turned to Jiraiya, saying gravely,
"Aizen is gone. I didn't land a single hit on him!"
From a distance, Jiraiya nodded in acknowledgment.
As he was about to speak, his eyes widened in shock, and he shouted,
"Watch out!"
Hearing the warning, Dai reacted instantly, his pupils contracting.
'Shhk!"'
But it was too late. A sharp blade pierced through his chest.
Everyone was stunned, their faces filled with disbelief.
Dai's immense chakra defense was rendered useless against the snow-white blade. It had pierced through effortlessly.
'Clang!"'
Dai looked down at the blood-stained blade in disbelief. As it was slowly withdrawn, he collapsed to the ground, his body limp.
"I'm sorry, Dai, but your techniques are ineffective under my Kyoka Suigetsu," came Aizen's magnetic voice.
Blood poured from Dai's mouth, his chakra dissipating. His spiked hair fell, and the bulging veins on his forehead subsided, leaving him utterly drained.
"Don't worry," Aizen said calmly, standing beside Dai with a relaxed smile.
"Kyoka Suigetsu only pierced the membrane near your heart. While you're unable to continue fighting, your life is not in danger."
Struggling painfully, Dai whispered hoarsely,
"Why... Why didn't you kill me? Do you still care about our past, Aizen?"
Aizen's smile faded slightly. He glanced down at Dai and replied calmly,
"Dai, no matter what, there's no going back for us."
"I'll tolerate you to the extent I can. Once this declining era of ninjas is destroyed, I hope you'll join my kingdom. I believe you'll come to appreciate the new era I bring."
With that, Aizen turned and walked away, leaving Dai lying on the ground, his expression forlorn.
He understood that with those words, Aizen had severed their bond completely.
As Aizen slowly approached Jiraiya, Tsunade and others rushed to tend to Dai's wounds.
Looking at Jiraiya, Aizen spoke calmly,
"You all heard my words, didn't you? What do you think, Jiraiya?"
Jiraiya hesitated, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.
The two stood at a distance, neither making a move, as if the earlier intense battle hadn't even occurred.
After a long pause, Jiraiya's expression turned solemn. He stared into Aizen's eyes, his voice raspy and filled with emotion.
"Is there really no way to turn things around?"
Aizen's gaze remained steady, offering no reply.
Seeing this, Jiraiya clenched his fists, then loosened them repeatedly before finally letting them fall to his sides.
His shoulders sagged, and he looked utterly defeated.
"I understand."
