Naruto: Starting with Snatching the Mangekyō Sharingan

The moment Danzo stepped into the Hokage's office, he wasted no time and barked, "Hiruzen, you need to rein in the Uchiha clan! Their arrogance has reached an intolerable level—they think they're above everything!"

Seeing Danzo's fiery demeanor, Hiruzen Sarutobi raised an eyebrow, his tone curious but calm.

"What happened? What conflict did you have with the Uchiha this time?"

In truth, the Uchiha clan had been relatively well-behaved recently, which had left Hiruzen somewhat satisfied with the status quo.

Danzo scowled, his voice tinged with frustration. "Lately, I've noticed unusual movements from Iwagakure. I intended to bring Nonō Yakushi back into Root to infiltrate their ranks and gather intelligence. But now that woman has the Uchiha clan backing her, and she dared to defy my orders!"

"Hiruzen, we must act decisively! We need to crush the Uchiha clan's overbearing arrogance!" Danzo's voice dropped to a chilling tone as his eyes narrowed, a flicker of killing intent shining through. "If they can defy my authority today, what's stopping them from turning on you, the Hokage, tomorrow?"

Hiruzen listened silently, his expression hard to read. Inwardly, he couldn't help but think, 

Does Danzo have rocks for brains? Does he not realize how precarious Konoha's situation is right now? And here he is, trying to stir internal strife.

Seeing Hiruzen remain silent, Danzo pressed him further. "Say something, Hiruzen!"

"What do you want me to say?" Hiruzen's gaze turned cold, his voice flat. "Should I summon an army and wipe out the entire Uchiha clan?"

Danzo's heart skipped a beat at the venom in Hiruzen's tone, but he forced himself to hold his ground.

"If it comes to that, it's not impossible. After all, they're a cursed clan. Exterminating them might be for the best..."

"How dare you utter such nonsense?" Hiruzen snapped, his anger barely contained. "And what justification would you use for such an action? Because you tried to force one of Konoha's citizens into your Root, and they refused? That's absurd!"

"I..." Danzo faltered momentarily but quickly regained his composure. "If we eliminate them, we can fabricate any reason we need afterward."

"Ha!" Hiruzen scoffed, his laughter sharp and mocking. "Danzo, you'd better behave yourself. At a time like this, the last thing we need is infighting."

Wipe out the Uchiha? What are you even thinking? Hiruzen mused. Even if it were feasible—and that's a big if—what message would that send to the other clans in Konoha? It'd be the beginning of our end. The village would splinter, and we'd be done for.

Danzo clenched his fists, unwilling to let the matter go. "Hiruzen, their arrogance is unbearable. Are you just going to sit back and do nothing?"

Hiruzen fixed him with an unimpressed stare. "And what exactly do you propose we do? What crime have they committed? Tell me."

Danzo was at a loss for words. The truth was, the Uchiha clan hadn't done anything out of line recently, leaving him without legitimate grounds to act. But Danzo didn't care about legitimacy—excuses could always be invented later. All he needed was for Hiruzen to share his intent.

But it was clear that Hiruzen had no desire to move against the Uchiha. Danzo sighed inwardly, knowing that without Hiruzen's agreement, all his efforts to incite action were futile.

Sighing deeply, Hiruzen broke the tense silence. "For now, stay put. Iwagakure might join the war soon, and when that happens, we'll need the Uchiha's strength."

"They're becoming too powerful to control," Danzo murmured, his tone dark and foreboding. "Don't forget, the Uchiha clan's top-tier combat strength is already comparable to ours."

"I'm well aware of that." Hiruzen nodded solemnly.

Danzo pressed on. "Have you considered ways to diminish the lifespan of their Mangekyō Sharingan? If this continues unchecked, it'll be disastrous for us."

"And what do you suggest?" Hiruzen shot back, exasperation evident in his voice. "Experts capable of countering the Mangekyō are few and far between."

Danzo fell silent. He knew Hiruzen was right. The Uchiha, with their Sharingan, were nearly unstoppable. The Mangekyō Sharingan elevated them to the pinnacle of the shinobi world, granting them unique jutsu and powers like Susanoo. If not for the inevitable blindness brought by overuse, they would be nearly invincible.

"Are we just going to let them act this way?" Danzo thought bitterly, frustration boiling within him.

Hiruzen, noting Danzo's grim expression, added, "Leave the Uchiha to me. For now, focus on maintaining peace within the village."

Elsewhere, Uchiha Akira returned to the Uchiha compound, where he met with Uchiha Fugaku.

"As expected," Fugaku mused, "Danzo intends to bring Nonō Yakushi back to Root. It seems things are growing dire in Iwagakure."

Akira nodded. "Indeed. At present, only Iwagakure and Kumogakure maintain significant military strength. Sunagakure has been crippled, and Kirigakure is too mired in internal conflict to act for now."

"Do you think war between Konoha and Iwagakure is inevitable?" Fugaku asked.

"Nine times out of ten, yes," Akira replied gravely. "Onoki is merely biding his time."

Fugaku sighed. "If we move against Danzo and Orochimaru, it might just give Iwagakure and Kumogakure the opening they need to strike."

"It's a risk," Akira admitted, "but one worth taking. Their actions cannot go unpunished, and defeating them could bolster our reputation."

Fugaku nodded, his confidence bolstered by the enhancements he had gained from Senju Hashirama's cells. With his newly empowered Mangekyō Sharingan, he felt ready to take on even the strongest opponents.

"We'll give them a blow they won't recover from," Fugaku said, his crimson Sharingan gleaming with cold resolve. "Danzo and Orochimaru won't escape this time."
