Chapter 126: Fed Up
After a sincere exchange between father and son, the depressed mood of Minato and Hiruzen improved greatly. After looking at each other, both could see the renewed smile and determination in their eyes.
No more words were needed.
No matter how strong Luo Lei's pressure on them is, it cannot overwhelm the firm Will of Fire in their hearts.
Temporary compromise and concession are only for a better future, only to maintain peace and stability in the village, only to ensure Konoha has a bright future.
Everything they do is meant to be passed down through the centuries and admired and cherished by future generations.
"I feel better," Hiruzen said after a while, taking a puff on his pipe. "Minato, what will you do next?"
"I'm going to Mount Myōboku."
Minato clenched his fists with a determined expression. "Luo Lei's power is too great. I'll go to Mount Myōboku to retreat for a while and try to improve my power. I won't let this defeat me."
"That's good." Hiruzen narrowed his eyes, exhaling a puff of white smoke. "Our village has fallen into an endless cycle. If there is a chance, ask the Great Toad Sage if there is a way to resolve this situation."
Minato nodded without hesitation. "I will, Hokage-sama."
"Minato, the village is very lucky to have you."
Hiruzen looked at Minato with deep emotion. "Rest assured that you will be the future candidate for the Fourth Hokage. Your efforts and dedication will not be in vain."
Although Hiruzen did not say everything, he knew perfectly well that even if Minato became the Fourth Hokage, he would be there behind him, supporting him, so Minato wouldn't have to bear all the pressure of leading Konoha alone.
"Hokage-sama, I definitely won't let you down!" Minato said with a happy smile, filling his chest with resolve.
"By the way…" Hiruzen seemed to remember something and added, "When you get to Mount Myōboku, call Jiraiya. He will understand what I mean."
"Understood, Hokage-sama."
"All right, that's all for now. Rest, you've had a long day." Hiruzen smiled softly. "Go and recover."
Minato, who had arrived full of frustration, now left with renewed faith. He walked out of the Hokage's office with firm steps, his heart filled with determination and a new purpose.
"Thank the gods I have Minato, so loyal to the Will of Fire." Hiruzen watched Minato's back as he left and couldn't help but show a look of satisfaction. "If Luo Lei had embraced the same will as Minato... how different everything would be!"
….
As Konoha's festival reached its climax and the afternoon turned into a golden sunset, the village was immersed in an atmosphere of peace and calm. The ninjas, exhausted after a day full of celebrations, slowly returned to their homes. Jiraiya, Tsunade, Kakashi, Rin, and Shikaku also said their goodbyes.
Luo Lei, the true center of our story, after enjoying some pointless conversations, took Yugito away from the celebration scene, intending to join Mikoto and play around together.
But during the entire celebration, he didn't miss Hiruzen, Koharu, and Danzō's fury in the office, nor the heated conversation between Minato and Kushina. Luo Lei heard it all, and couldn't help but smile in satisfaction. Mikoto had done an impeccable job, and Kushina had made the right decision.
Of course, Minato, in fact, was a qualified Hokage in the canon, but as a father and husband, he left much to be desired. Even after being revived with Edo Tensei, his obsession with the Will of Fire remained unshakable, as if he was programmed to follow it blindly.
But now, Luo Lei had intervened, giving Kushina the chance to escape that unhappy life, and allowing Minato to focus all his loyalty on serving Hiruzen and the village.
As for the machinations of Hiruzen and the others, Luo Lei couldn't care less. He considered them nothing more than insignificant nuisances.
"..."
Suddenly, while walking, his face changed. Something had happened.
"Luo Lei…?" Yugito murmured in concern upon seeing the change.
"Don't worry." Luo Lei showed a smile. "I'm just going to take care of a rat…"
Swish!
Before Yugito could react, Luo Lei disappeared.
Yugito was left standing still, bewildered, having no idea what had just happened.
Twenty seconds later...
Kushina's house.
Boom!
With a loud rumble, Luo Lei descended from the sky like a meteor, hitting the ground with such force that a massive crater formed beneath his feet.
In less than three seconds, Luo Lei emerged from the crater, with a fierce expression and a White Zetsu clone grabbed by the neck.
"So... fast?!"
White Zetsu was pale. "Luo Lei, what are you doing?!"
He had come to Konoha under Madara's orders, intending to give Luo Lei a nasty surprise during the festival. But fate played him a bad hand: not even hiding under tons of earth was enough to evade Luo Lei.
"What do I want to do?" Luo Lei laughed angrily. "I tried to ignore Madara! But it seems he keeps coming after me... over and over again. That's enough!"
The fire of fury burned in his eyes.
Originally, he had thought about giving Madara some time, perhaps even ignoring him… but that patience had run out. He was going to end this once and for all.
Boom!
Before the White Zetsu clone could utter another word, Luo Lei crushed him with both hands, his body disintegrating under the pressure.
At that very moment...
"ROOOAARRR!"
A deafening roar echoed, and an overwhelming chakra emanated from Kushina's house. Nine huge red and orange tails burst through the walls.
The Nine-Tails Jinchūriki had lost control...
