Chapter 99: Uzushiogakure's Arsenal
Shikai was seated on a spacious terrace overlooking the breathtaking view of Uzushiogakure. He was in no hurry, as a day in the inner world was equivalent to two days here. A gentle breeze played with his silky blonde hair, which fell in a cascade over his shoulders. A simple white towel covered his athletic body, his muscles glistening slightly due to the lingering heat from the hot springs he had bathed in earlier.
Behind him, Samui, calm and focused, was busy braiding his hair. Her expert hands worked methodically, tying each section with precision.
"Why don't you cut your hair, DarkRai?" she asked softly, breaking the silence.
Shikai smiled slightly, his eyes fixed on the horizon.
"Maybe one day," he replied, shrugging. "But for now, I prefer to keep it long. It reminds me of the past... So, Samui, how is Uzushio faring on the military front?"
Samui, without pausing in her work, furrowed her eyebrows slightly before answering.
"We've made great progress, master," she said in a respectful but firm voice. "We currently have three hundred chunin and one hundred and fifty jonin. Every shinobi trains day and night. Even those you call 'servants' are all highly qualified chunin."
Shikai nodded, visibly satisfied.
"And our spies?" he asked, rising to his feet and beginning to dress.
Samui averted her eyes momentarily out of respect, then resumed her report.
"We have agents infiltrated in all the major villages: Kumogakure, Iwagakure, Suna, and even Kiri. However, none in Konoha. As you ordered, it would be superfluous. You're already there, after all."
A smirk appeared on Shikai's face as he adjusted his collar.
"Well. For now, let them train. But soon, they'll be useful. I'm counting on you to oversee all of this. As for the next phase..."
He paused, fastening a belt to his black pants.
"... we've started collecting genes. And not just genes, but also the most powerful weapons this world has ever known. But that's not enough I want to get my hands on the weapons of the Rikudo hermit, those in Kumogakure."
Samui nodded slightly in approval.
"Yes, master. Everything is in place for the collection."
Once dressed, Shikai followed Samui to a reinforced steel door, hidden in the west wing of the castle. She entered a series of codes on a panel, and the door slowly opened with a deep creak, revealing a spiral staircase descending into the depths.
The duo ventured into the bowels of Ancor Vatian. The walls, covered in complex seals and runes, exuded a palpable aura of power. Any unidentified presence would be automatically attacked.
They finally reached a vast room illuminated by incandescent crystals suspended from the ceiling. Before them lay an arsenal of weapons carefully stored on pedestals engraved with protective fuinjutsu.
Samui spoke up, her voice resonating slightly in the room.
"The weapons we have so far: Shibuki, Nuibari, Kabutowari, Storm Blades..."
Shikai slowly walked around the room, placing his fingers on the pedestals.
"One day, all these weapons will be returned to Kiri," he declared, his voice filled with determination.
Samui merely nodded.
"And the genetic modifications? Where are we with that?" Shikai asked.
"The specimens are being collected, master. With your orders, we'll soon be able to begin testing on our shinobi."
Shikai sketched a cold smile. He still wanted Orochimaru's knowledge, but he could start on his own.
Shikai descended even deeper into the underground of his immense fortress. Accompanied by Samui, he traversed a dark corridor where the walls were lined with containers holding various DNA samples and organs carefully preserved in vitrified solutions. These biological data represented the fruit of many years of battles, thefts, and manipulations.
They stopped in a room illuminated by a pale, cold light, where rows of tubes and capsules floated in a bluish viscous solution.
Shikai approached a container marked with complex seals.
"Pakura," he murmured, placing his hand on the cold surface of the tube. "Mastery of Shakuton... a genius from Suna."
He turned slightly towards Samui, continuing his inspection.
"And here, Gari. The Bakuton expert. A man who shaped battlefields with his explosions in the past."
He gestured towards other containers.
"Yugito Nii, former Jinchūriki of Matatabi... Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze. Ranmaru's eyes..."
"They cost me dearly, those eyes. But obtaining the Storm Blades and those Dojutsu was worth every effort. He couldn't be present, so he sent some chunin to kill Kiba, who had a strange affection for little Ranmaru. Even though he sacrificed three of them, the investment still paid off."
He stopped in front of a tube containing a dark, shimmering liquid.
"The genes of the Iburi clan. The ability to transform into smoke..."
He looked at other containers holding preserved DNA, and with that, the only DNA he needed was that of Madara, Jugo, Hashirama, and a Hyuga with the Tenseigan.
Shikai stopped in front of the door. Inside, a disheveled-haired adolescent with a face marked by years of suffering was chained up. Amaru stared at Shikai with eyes filled with fear and hatred mixed together.
"Are you sure, DarkRai?" Samui asked, a hint of hesitation in her voice.
Shikai turned slowly towards her, his eyes reflecting a cold determination.
"Open the door."
