Chapter 61: Explicit Attitude
Chapter
62: Explicit Attitude
Menma had originally planned to find
a suitable opportunity to have an 'offline netizen interview meeting' with the
big businessman, Gato, after arriving in the Land of Waves. Now he could openly
bring it up, saving some unnecessary trouble. On the way back with
Kakashi-sensei, Menma was mentally thinking about where to start tomorrow.
Gato could control the Land of Waves
because his power was strong enough to make the people of the Land of Waves
afraid to speak out. Additionally, there were likely traitors within the Land
of Waves itself. Often, the best way to disrupt a group's strength is to attack
from within. Menma could start the investigation from this point. The country
was small, and unless Gato decided to abandon his plan, which seemed unlikely
given his arrogance, Menma was confident in his approach.
Gato had dared to threaten Zabuza
face to face and believed he could fight against ninjas by leading a group of
so-called underworld thugs. This was absolutely mindless.
"Oh, you're back,
Kakashi-sensei, Menma," Naruto said, lighting up when he saw them
returning. He seemed like he wanted to ask something but held it back, looking
slightly unhappy.
Kakashi-sensei shook his head with a
smile. "Starting tomorrow, the four of you will be divided into two
groups. Menma will investigate the information about the enemy's employer in
this mission - Gato. Of the three of you, two will protect Tazuna-san while he
builds the bridge, and the other will follow to assist Menma, taking turns. The
specific order is decided by the four of you."
Kakashi-sensei crossed his arms and
looked at Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura.
"Oh? Gato? Are we going to take
the initiative?" Naruto's face showed excitement. He preferred taking the
initiative rather than responding passively. Naruto was aware that their group
couldn't stay in the Land of Waves indefinitely. If Gato waited for them to
leave before attacking Tazuna and others, they would be out of reach. If they
could deal with Gato directly, Naruto believed the Land of Waves would have a
new beginning.
"Well, we can't always be the
passive party," Kakashi-sensei chuckled and nodded.
"Oh, I understand,
Kakashi-sensei," Naruto nodded heavily, clenching his hands into fists.
"Yes, Kakashi-sensei,"
Sakura agreed.
Sasuke nodded gently, still looking
calm. He didn't care about Gato, as he was just an ordinary person.
"Ah? Kakashi-sensei, are you
going to deal with Gato? Thank you very much for that! However, Gato has many
subordinates, so please be careful!" Tazuna said, returning with his
daughter after preparing bedding for Kakashi-sensei, Menma, and others. He
looked surprised and relieved.
Tazuna had been hesitant to make
such a request. Firstly, they were already protecting him beyond the limit, and
secondly, Gato was a very rich and sinister businessman with many underlings.
Tazuna refrained from making a request, thinking ordinary people could still
pose a threat to ninjas if they were in large numbers. This idea wasn't
entirely wrong but had strong limitations.
"Well, don't worry, Tazuna-san,
we will definitely handle Gato smoothly," Kakashi-sensei smiled, not
explaining much.
"You can't possibly defeat
Gato! It's a ridiculous, stupid thing to think you can succeed. Heroes don't
exist! You're just wasting your time!"
Suddenly, a short figure appeared in
the corridor, loudly and angrily.
Everyone was stunned. Tazuna's
expression changed as he scolded, "What are you talking about, Inari? It's
very rude of you to say that. Apologize to the ninjas immediately!"
This short figure was none other
than Tazuna's grandson, Inari, who was only five or six years old. Tsunami, who
had just prepared the bedding, hurried over and hugged her son. She bowed
deeply to Kakashi-sensei, Menma, and the others, saying, "I'm very sorry,
ninjas. Inari is still young and completely ignorant. Please forgive him.
Inari, apologize quickly!"
"I'm not wrong! Why should I
apologize?! They don't know the horror of Gato at all! They're just showing
off! Dad... Dad just died like that... They're just bragging. This world...
This world has no heroes at all!!" Inari's stubbornness was clear. He
remembered his dead father, and his eyes filled with tears, making Sakura and
Naruto, who were initially angry, hesitate. Sasuke frowned.
"Ah, this..."
Kakashi-sensei started to say something to ease the situation.
"What an ignorant and stupid
kid. You need to know your limits. Want to cry? Then go to the corner and cry
alone. You're making me feel disgusted!" Menma turned around, looking at
Inari with extreme disgust, his words cold and harsh.
A hint of strong murderous aura
accompanied Menma's words, making Inari feel a bone-chilling cold. His pupils
widened, and his whole body trembled slightly. The sobbing stopped abruptly,
replaced by a touch of fear.
