Chapter 53 - Discharge from Hospital
Amu listened to Shen Qiu’s somewhat silent response and felt a pang of sympathy. He sighed and said, “Brother, just focus on recovering. Don’t think too much about other things; just take it one day at a time.”
“I want to live a quiet and stable life too, but as you can see, the current situation is a mess.”
Worry was evident in Shen Qiu’s eyes.
Amu reached out and patted Shen Qiu on the shoulder, speaking seriously. “You don’t need to worry. I can’t guarantee or say much about other administrative districts and cities since the policies are different. But in Sky City, you can rest assured. We will do everything we can, even if it means risking our lives, to ensure your safety and that of the citizens.”
After hearing Amu’s words, Shen Qiu felt a bit moved. In fact, the soldiers of the Clear Sky Corps were indeed doing exactly what Amu had said.
“Okay, I understand.”
“Alright, it’s about time. I should return to the unit now.”
Amu glanced at his watch and bid farewell to Shen Qiu.
“Okay, take care.”
Shen Qiu nodded in response.
“If there’s a chance, see you again!”
Amu saluted Shen Qiu and then turned to leave.
Shen Qiu let out a long breath and then tried to get out of bed to move around a bit.
He found that although his body was still quite sore and his head felt foggy, his mobility had mostly returned.
This was truly a pleasant surprise; Shen Qiu had originally thought he would have to lie in bed for at least a few days.
Creak~
At that moment, the door was pushed open again, and a bald middle-aged man in a white doctor’s coat walked in. He was startled to see Shen Qiu getting out of bed and immediately asked with a big smile, “Oh, you’re awake?”
“Yeah, just woke up.”
Shen Qiu nodded in response.
“Come on, take a few steps to see how you feel.”
The doctor said cheerfully.
Shen Qiu followed the doctor’s advice and walked back and forth a few steps.
“Looks good, no issues with movement. Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable?”
The doctor observed and asked with concern.
“Not really uncomfortable anywhere; just a bit foggy in my head and my body is a little sore.”
Shen Qiu honestly informed the doctor about his physical condition.
“Pretty good. It seems like there’s no problem; you can be discharged.”
The male doctor said with a smile.
“Ah? I just woke up! Don’t I need to be observed for a few days? And have a full-body check-up?”
Shen Qiu was a bit dumbfounded by the doctor’s words and asked in confusion.
“Oh, there’s no need to make it so complicated! You’re in good condition now, and there are no wounds on your body. Why stay in the hospital? Plus, every extra day means extra charges; why bother?”
“Um, how about staying one more day? Just to check everything before I go?”
Shen Qiu asked a bit uneasily.
“No need; trust me, you’ll be fine. Just go home and rest for a few days.”
The male doctor persuaded Shen Qiu earnestly.
Upon hearing this, Shen Qiu’s mouth twitched violently, and he roughly guessed what was going on.
It was highly likely that the ward was very crowded and other patients were coming in.
Thinking of this, Shen Qiu couldn’t be bothered to argue and simply said, “Fine!”
Half an hour later, Shen Qiu stood in front of the hospital’s storage lockers. He used facial recognition to unlock his locker.
Click!
Inside the locker, there was a set of tattered clothes.
Shen Qiu furrowed his brow; how was he supposed to wear this?
He then reached into his left pocket and took out his phone.
The entire phone was charred, with parts of it carbonized; it shattered upon touch.
Shen Qiu’s mouth twitched again; this was a problem. The whole phone was ruined, and his contacts were gone.
He hurriedly reached into his right pocket for his wallet.
However, as he put his hand into the pocket, he immediately felt something unusual.
Instinctively, he pulled it out to take a look, only to find he was holding a gray triangular module. Its material was peculiar; it felt a bit like metal in his hand, but upon closer inspection, the patterns on it resembled flesh.
“What is this? Why is it in my pocket?”
Shen Qiu’s brows knitted together in confusion; he couldn’t remember how it got there, which only made his headache worse.
An extremely bad premonition suddenly arose in his heart. This thing was probably related to his uncontrolled episode.
In the past, when he lost control, it was gradual, like drinking; he would still have some awareness and memories.
But this time was different; he was in a complete blackout state and couldn’t remember anything at all.
This was simply terrible. Shen Qiu was well aware that his fear of losing control stemmed from the fact that once he did, he would be completely devoid of self-control and unaware of what he might do.
He might inadvertently endanger those around him, resulting in irreversible disasters.
Thinking of this, Shen Qiu felt increasingly restless. However, he had no good solutions at the moment and could only temporarily set aside his concerns, tucking the triangular module away.
Next, Shen Qiu reached into his pocket again and pulled out his wallet.
The leather wallet was dark and exuded a burnt leather smell.
After checking the contents, he found, unsurprisingly, that everything was ruined.
Shen Qiu looked down at the hospital gown he was wearing. After hesitating for a moment, he picked up the tattered clothes and walked back to the ward.
Sky City, Tenth Ring – Clear Sky Canal.
Thousands of heavy tanks, rocket vehicles, and multifunctional armored vehicles surged into the checkpoint like a torrent of steel.
The non-commissioned officers guarding the checkpoint saluted the incoming troops of the Clear Sky Corps.
In front of the incoming forces, atop a heavy command vehicle,
a girl with flowing blue hair, exquisite features, bright eyes, and a dazzling smile, wearing a colonel’s uniform, lifted her black-booted foot and placed it on the vehicle’s door frame. She drew the saber at her waist, pointing it forward as she shouted,
“Let’s go, men! Speed up and advance!”
At that moment, the air was filled with explosive roars as SID-02 Flying Fish helicopters and fighter jets, laden with heavy weaponry, roared overhead.
“Ahem, Commander Bai. Isn’t it a bit inappropriate to bring so many heavy weapons into the city? After all, we’re here to protect the citizens, not to tear down their homes!”
At this time, a short-haired female officer beside her advised with a twitch of her lips.
“Protecting the citizens is their responsibility, while my duty is to send those monsters to meet my great-grandmother!”
Bai Lanxin said proudly,
“Miss, don’t speak carelessly. If Grandpa hears that, he will definitely be furious. And if your great-grandmother has any spirit in the afterlife, she would be displeased as well.”
An La’s face turned pale upon hearing Bai Lanxin’s words!
“Stop wasting time, everyone follow me and speed up!”
“Yes!”
Gospel Hospital.
Shen Qiu walked out of the hospital entrance, and passersby couldn’t help but glance at him.
Shen Qiu didn’t mind; he turned his head to look around.
He was now in the southern district of the Tenth Ring of Sky City—Tianfu Street. This area was the most prosperous in the Tenth Ring, and from the looks of the streets and pedestrians, it seemed to have escaped the attacks.
At that moment, Shen Qiu’s gaze landed on the shops on the right side of the street, where there were several clothing and mobile phone stores.
He took a look at the 18,000 Alliance Coins he had withdrawn for his discharge from his pocket and then walked over.
