Chapter 240: Scouting the Fort
Everyone was horrified at the scene.
The power of the Wild Arm far exceeded everyone's expression. They clearly saw how the power of the Mage Commander shot out and killed the other Mage.
“That- That was not my fault! I didn’t even bring out any magic! How was I supposed to know how this thing worked?! Please don’t kill me!” Dyne pleaded.
“YOU! IMBECILE!” One of the wizards roared, and they all ran to attack Dyne.
“Stop, or I'll shoot!” Dyne raised his hands and pointed to the Wild Arm.
BANG!
A single bullet shot out, and one of the wizards blocked it with magic.
The rest moved back in fear of the weapon and was about to attack Dyne.
“STOP!” The Mage Commander roared.
The mages and the battlemages who charged forward turned around.
Dyne had fallen on his ground.
“What… was that?! My body… feels…”
“Mana Overdraft. That kid used the small amount of mana that his untrained body has, and look at the attack! Everyone! We have underestimated this weapon! It’s that powerful! It can amplify magic and create devastating attacks! The boy did warn us!” The Mage Commander ordered. But his eyes had a huge greedy look as it was fixated on the Wild Arm.
‘How audacious!” Ifrit frowned as he hated the eyes of the Mage Commander.
“I, Diablo, am being looked at by that human?!” Ifrit raged.
“You’re Ifrit now. Don't use that other name. And remember your place! Also, I’m human too!” Dyne secretly reminded.
“No! My master is worthy! Even a god is his slave!”
“I’m not his slave!” Strafe cursed.
The Mage Commander approached.
“You win the gamble. The Wizard Ores secret shall remain to you. But as for your first offer, this weapon is ours in return for your sanctuary here. You will also receive two magic artifacts!”
“I can stay?” Dyne wobbly moved to his feet. Choco helped him stand.
“I can’t… move. What happened? What did you do to me?”
“We didn’t do anything, stupid brat! You used the Wild Arm, and it drained whatever pitifully low mana you have in you!”
“Give him a sip for mana.” The Mage Commander ordered.
One of the mages approached and offered a small portion.
“Still, this Wild Arm chose you for your potential. It’s amazing that you managed to have enough mana for such an attack. Kids of your age normally don’t have magic.” The Mage muttered as he gave Dyne the bottle.
Dyne sipped it and could tell that it was one of the weakest forms of mana potions.
Still, Dyne pretended to start moving as he was trying to hide his smile.
“Why is he smiling?” Jedo wondered.
“He discovered that every Mage here carries at least one or two mana potions. Imagine what he could do with a massive amount of mana.” Strafe could tell what Dyne was thinking.
“Ifrit. I’ll leave you with them. But when the time comes, fly to me. Jedo will open a portal to send you back to my side.”
“Yes, Master.”
Dyne turned to the Mage, who gave him mana potions.
“Er… thanks! This thing tastes bad but is amazing! I feel better!” Dyne laughed.
“So… Where is my room? And what about the chocolates?” Dyne demanded.
“… Right. The chocolates. I forgot that.” The Mage Commander sighed.
“We’ll make preparations for it. Feel free to tour around the fort.”
“Yay! Thanks! I want to see the magic artifact thingy! And what about the thing that keeps the shield up here? Dad told me all about this place!’ Dyne jumped up and down like a kid who was on a fun field trip.
“Someone babysit the kid.”
“Oh, right? Here! Catch! The Wild Arm!” Dyne happily threw the Wild Arm as he rushed towards the exit.
The Mage Commander felt his entire soul leave him as he saw the Wild Arm thrown at him.
BOOM!
Another mage acted quickly and shot a small magic attack on the Wild Arm.
“THAT STUPID-!”
“Enough! It’s a child! Reckless and annoying, but it’s still a child! Do not harm him! We still don’t know how to control this Wild Arm, and that boy is necessary!” The Mage Commander roared.
Meanwhile, Dyne was using his child form to run around the place and enter whatever crazy room there was.
The Mage who was assigned to watch over Dyne was rapidly growing impatient.
“Weapon! Weapon! I have a new weapon!” Dyne smiled and jumped around.
One of the mages nearby began to make a chant and invoked magic which opened a door.
“Cool! Magic to open doors! Hey, what is here?” Dyne saw a room and ran inside.
“Stop! That room is restricted!”
“Oh! A lot of books! Amazing!”
“You’re not allowed to move inside!” The Mage shouted.
Dyne kept doing that and was jumping and running all over the place, curious at the slightest thing. Finally, the Mage had to chase Dyne and stop him from entering rooms opened by other mages.
“Wow! This place is so big! Hey, how did you guys create a massive fort in no time?”
“Magic can do tremendous things.” The wizard gave a smug smile.
“Yeah. My dad told me about it. But he said nothing ever comes without a cost. We can quickly create a base with our monsters and create a fort a day slower than you, but you guys must be using magic which costs a lot to build this thing. Is that why there are many tired-looking uncles? They look like me earlier. But much worse!” Dyne observed as he ran around.
The Mage was silent but could not find any fault from Dyne’s words.
“The Artifact chamber is here.” The Mage pointed to a strange runic symbol on the wall. He began to chant a strange thing, and the door opened.
“You may select on all weapons with the Power level between eight to fifteen. Generally, the higher the number, the more powerful the weapon is. Any more than those already belong to someone.” The Mage explained.
Dyne looked at the many weapons and saw different kinds of scepters, swords, and even armors.
“Just like in most RPG games. Weapons with added elements and effects…” Dyne smiled as he noted the weapons.
“So, which one will you get?” The Mage asked.
“This sword looks so awesome! Oh! And that giant helmet! It's so cool! I want those! I want those!”
“The sword has a power level of twenty. So it already is owned by someone!” The Mage answered impenitently.
“Eh? Where are the numbers? Oh! There it is! On the plaques!” Dyne began to move from one weapon to the other.
“Hmm… While it has magic, most of these on the eight to fifteen are even inferior to the weapons that Leoric has. Still, equipping these to the people in Legaia will definitely be helpful! I can already see it! Legaia Hunter and Monks with Diablo magic weapons!” Dyne smiled as the weapons he saw reminded him of Diablo and Nox and other games where magic weapons existed.
"Tristram only has weapons of great durability and strength. But applying more magic to it is quite rare. Maybe if I combine the knowledge of weapon forging in Legaia, Tristram, and reverse engineer these weapons, I could come up with something. The Serus in Legaia can definitely aid in creating magic weapons!"
Later, Dyne picked the coolest-looking weapons in the eight to fifteen range. He picked a short sword and some metal boots and began to jump around on them.
“Take me to see the magic shield thing! Please! Please! Please! I heard it the coolest thing ever!’ Dyne shouted.
The exhausted Mage agreed without saying anything and led Dyne to the center of the magic formation in the castle that powered the shield.
Dyne was still jumping around like a child, but secretly he was already ready to make his attack.
“Once I destroy the device creating the shield, Vahn should be able to cast Viguro… And while that is happening, I’ll keep casting Serus from the inside…” Dyne plotted.
He was so excited for his gains. He had seen the locations where the books were kept. He had peaked in the important rooms where potions and other magic and alchemic objects were stored. And he saw the storage for the magic weapons. Dyne had already memorized how to open them and what chants were needed to open these rooms! He would revisit them and get all he could from them. He had already seen the full fort, took note of the places of interest, and even plotted the fastest route to get all the items he wanted.
"Hmm... I think I can create devastating magic to this fort. If I attack it with such great power, it should delay the movements of the real Diablo and his two brothers. And I should be able to travel easily in Legaia..." Dyne decided.
"Well, time to grow crazy." Dyne smiled as he allowed the Mist in Jedo to enter his soul.
