Chapter 16: Arrival at the Island’s Culinary City

Chapter 16: Arrival at the Island's Culinary City

While Charlotte was a bit hesitant.

"Report."

A subordinate dressed in a tight black suit opened the door.

"Boss Charlotte, we've arrived at the Island's Culinary City."

Hearing the report, Charlotte sighed.

"Lina, assign two members to take care of it."

"I'll handle that."

Charlotte turned and left. She couldn't kill Douglas Bullet without reason.

He hadn't committed many crimes yet.

She couldn't decide for him, only let things take their course.

She left the infirmary and stood on the deck.

Around her, pirate ships were coming and going like koi fish crossing a river, there were so many.

The subordinates carefully controlled the ship as it slowly moved towards the port via the river.

Charlotte looked in awe at the enormous and beautiful buildings on both sides. It was the first time she had seen them in person, as she had always been on the island.

Of course, the others were also inexperienced and looked around with curiosity.

The bustling and vibrant atmosphere was exciting.

"Boss, this place is so lively and bustling!"

For the first time, Charlotte agreed with what Beta said because it was the truth.

Feeling much better, she had an idea and asked:

"Beta, what makes this place so lively?"

Beta didn't hesitate, "There are lots of people, lots of ships, and lots of houses."

Lina, beside her, smiled gently.

Charlotte looked at Beta seriously; honestly, his answer was simple and direct.

Wow, since he ate the devil fruit, it seems like he's started thinking a bit better. Could the devil fruit also enhance intelligence?

Charlotte calmly said to Beta, "Hmm, good answer."

The ship moved along the river, and soon a large port appeared before them.

Ships were constantly coming in and out, it looked very busy.

Following the instructions of the staff at the lighthouse, their ship entered the port smoothly.

"Let's go!"

Charlotte gave the order, leaving some crew members on the ship while the rest disembarked and headed towards the bustling streets.

With their elegant outfits, they made a striking entrance, though they didn't attract much attention.

There were many people in strange outfits, but the appearance of Charlotte's group clearly showed they were part of the same faction.

However, no one paid much attention to them.

No one had heard of the Hiberfield family, and if some had, they were probably already eliminated.

There were so many unknown factions here that no one paid attention to them.

Charlotte was very satisfied with this.

In a good mood, Charlotte ordered the group to disperse so they could relax and have some fun.

Only Lina stayed with Charlotte as they walked around.

It was rare to go out to sea and this place felt very safe.

In a safe environment, Charlotte wanted to experience the unique charm of the pirate world.

Pirates of all kinds came and went, different accents were heard, various weapons were seen, strange outfits, people of all shapes and sizes, with weird hairstyles...

There was an atmosphere of joy and fun.

Since she was born in this world, it was the first time she had seen so many people.

She couldn't help but feel nostalgic.

Could Isla Ratti, when it had enough power, become this prosperous in the future?

Charlotte was full of expectations.

"Charlotte, this is really beautiful, as bustling as my old home."

With a nostalgic expression, Lina spoke sadly.

"Do you miss your home, Lina? If so, why not go back to visit?"

A girl whose country had been destroyed and who was wandering, how could she not miss her home? Charlotte spoke to her kindly.

Lina, with tears in her eyes, shook her head, "Wherever you are, that will be my home."

Everything she once knew had disappeared in the war, the new kingdom was no longer familiar, and she no longer had a place there.

Everything she had was left in her memory.

Since Charlotte rescued her from despair, she hadn't wanted to be separated from him.

Charlotte didn't know what to say.

Soon, she smiled.

"Yes, Lina."

"Don't be sad."

"The future of Isla Ratti will also be prosperous, peaceful, and safe, the home we all desire."

Lina, wiping her tears, looked at Charlotte's sincere and bright smile, and felt an inner peace and renewed confidence, saying with determination:

"Yes, it will be."

Charlotte, seeing Lina full of enthusiasm again, spoke softly to her, "Don't cry anymore, Lina, you don't look good when you cry."

Lina's heart skipped a beat, her face turned red, and she smiled, "Charlotte, you make me feel shy."

Charlotte was momentarily stunned. Is that what she meant?

"Well, that's okay."

But seeing Lina happy, she stopped thinking about it.

"Come on, I'll take you to eat something delicious!"

With a grand gesture, she took Lina's hand and they quickly headed to the most popular food stalls.

On the ship.

In the infirmary.

Douglas Bullet looked cautiously at his surroundings and the bandages covering his wounds, surprised.

"Have I been rescued?"

"Ah! You're awake!"

While Bullet was confused, a nurse, who was going to check his wounds, spoke in surprise.

"Lie down! You're seriously injured!"

The nurse said urgently.

Bullet didn't argue, he lay down quietly.

Soon, the nurse finished examining him, and couldn't help but be amazed, "You're incredible, you've recovered from most of your injuries!"

"Ah, my name is Gillian, and you?"

Bullet, facing the kind and outgoing Gillian, didn't feel annoyed, rather he felt something different and responded awkwardly, "My name is Douglas Bullet."

"What a cool name!"

Gillian, enthusiastically and without any reservation, was very friendly.

"Did you save me?"

Gillian shook her head and then nodded.

"Yes and no."

Counting on her fingers, she responded seriously.

"When you were unconscious, Beta pulled you out of the sea."

"And boss Charlotte ordered us to heal you."

"And I was the one who treated you in the end."

Bullet, listening to Gillian's detailed response, didn't know what to say.

"So, how are they?"

He asked anxiously.

"They're good people. I was also rescued from a slave ship by boss Charlotte."

"You know what a slave ship is, right?"

"…"

Hearing this, Bullet's eyes brightened, though Gillian talked a lot, it didn't bother him.

He felt a kind of peace.

And so, they started chatting little by little.
