Chapter 11: Unleashing the Power of Lightning
Gorbo Mountain
Zzzzt—
Electricity surged from Ye Jia's arm, crackling as arcs of energy danced around him, quickly enveloping his entire body.
"Discharge!"
At his command, the electric current shot out like a bolt of lightning, striking a nearby tree. The tree split in half on impact, its charred remains igniting into flames.
"Increase the voltage!"
Ye Jia pushed the limits of his Devil Fruit ability, intensifying the electric charge. The energy surrounding him grew fiercer, sparks flying everywhere. With a sharp motion, he pointed forward, releasing all the stored electricity in a devastating surge.
Boom!
A thunderous explosion erupted, leaving a circular patch of land scorched and barren, devoid of life.
"No wonder this Logia-type fruit, mentioned countless times by Robin, is hailed as nearly invincible in One Piece. The power is absurdly overwhelming!" Ye Jia marveled.
Despite having only just started training with the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, his abilities already reached the terrifying level of erasing swaths of terrain in an instant. The might of a Logia fruit was undeniable, utilizing the very forces of nature itself.
Unlike Paramecia fruits or weaker Zoan fruits, which required relentless practice and suffering to master, Logia fruits were inherently dominant.
"This fruit truly justifies Enel's claim to divinity!"
Ye Jia couldn't help but understand Enel's perspective. The sheer destructive capability of this fruit—the ability to annihilate enemies with a mere thought—conveyed an almost godlike power.
"With such a powerful fruit, I'd be failing it if I didn't fully develop its potential!"
"Again! Maximum voltage discharge!"
Ye Jia threw himself into intense training, honing the power of the Rumble-Rumble Fruit tirelessly. Thanks to his endless stamina, he could sustain the fruit's demanding energy consumption and train as much as he pleased.
Ten Days Later
"Wow, old man Casca, this ship is incredible!"
At the dock, Ye Jia stood beside Casca, admiring the vessel floating in the water.
The ship was large—though not as impressive as the Thousand Sunny, it was far sturdier than the Going Merry. Reinforced with steel at critical points, it was built to withstand even the roughest seas. Every bit of the million-berry cost was worth it.
"Ye Jia, you don't know how to sail, and learning now would take too long. If you're heading out to sea, find someone skilled at steering and navigation. It'll save you a lot of trouble," Casca advised.
"Thanks, old man Casca!" Ye Jia felt a wave of warmth in his heart.
"Off you go, then. This old man's ready to head home for some rest. Building this ship took a lot out of me. When you become a famous pirate, don't forget to mention the one who made your ship, haha!" Casca chuckled as he walked away, singing a sailor's tune with his jug of wine in hand.
Standing before his newly acquired pirate ship, Ye Jia felt an overwhelming sense of pride.
"I've got my own ship now!"
"I'm ready to set sail!"
"I will carve my name into the annals of One Piece history!"
"From now on, I'll be known as the Grim Reaper! The Grim Reaper Pirates will soon become a name to remember across the Grand Line. Everyone will know there's a deathly pirate who stands equal to the Yonko and Admirals!"
Ye Jia's heart burned with ambition. That day, he had a flag designed: a skull cloaked in a hooded robe, with crossed scythes beneath it, their blades stained with blood.
"From today, this ship shall be known as the Reaper! And I hereby declare the founding of the Grim Reaper Pirates!"
Hoisting the flag high, Ye Jia stood proudly at the bow, shouting at the top of his lungs.
Farewell at Windmill Village
When news spread that Ye Jia was setting out to sea, nearly the entire Windmill Village gathered to see him off.
"Ye Jia, if you see Luffy out there, don't forget to say hello for me!" shouted Maggie, revealing her deep concern for Luffy.
"Got it!" Ye Jia thumped his chest in response.
"Ye Jia, take down all the bad pirates and be a noble one! I believe in you!"
"I'll be watching for your bounty in the papers—don't disappoint us!"
"Don't forget your hunting skills—they'll be a big help out there!"
"..."
The villagers' heartfelt words filled Ye Jia with warmth.
Back on Earth, he had been utterly alone, with no one caring about his life or death. But here, in Windmill Village, he had found a sense of home.
"Don't worry, I won't let you down! Goodbye, everyone!"
With that, Ye Jia raised the sails of the Reaper. The villagers watched as the ship disappeared over the horizon, fading into the line where the sky met the sea.
The gentle sea breeze and warm sunlight made the journey feel serene as Ye Jia lounged on the deck. But he knew such peace wouldn't last long—danger always loomed on the seas.
Suddenly, his ears twitched. Beneath the hull, something moved in the water at alarming speed. Before he could fully react, a massive shadow appeared beneath the ship.
Sea King
Roar!!
A colossal Sea King burst from the water, its towering body casting a shadow over the ship. Its bloodthirsty eyes glared down at Ye Jia as it let out an ear-splitting roar.
The creature resembled a dinosaur but lacked arms, bearing the gills of a fish. Its monstrous form, over ten meters tall, loomed like a mountain, making Ye Jia seem insignificant in comparison.
"A Sea King? It seems fate is smiling on me. Such a big piece of meat—how could I refuse?" Ye Jia laughed boldly, his eyes gleaming with determination.
In an instant, Ye Jia vanished. A heartbeat later, he reappeared atop the Sea King's head, electricity surging around his body.
Zzzzt—
Lightning coiled around him, his eyes sparking with energy.
"Three million volts—Discharge!"
A massive surge of lightning erupted from his palm, crackling with deafening intensity. The bolt pierced through the Sea King's body, reducing it to a charred husk. With a final anguished cry, the creature collapsed lifelessly into the ocean.
Back on the deck, Ye Jia grinned.
"The Rumble-Rumble Fruit is ridiculously fun! Hahaha!"
