In just ten minutes, the new recruits in the training field, undergoing the assessment, had been split into three groups, with their strengths and weaknesses clearly visible.
Fullbody was in the first group. From a young age, he had been systematically trained by his parents, so his foundation was solid.
If he hadn't grown up obsessed with dance and lost interest in becoming a Marine, he wouldn't have ended up being sent back to the branch by his angry parents to start over.
As he rounded the corner and saw Loya a few meters ahead, he paused, slowing down his pace.
"Loya?"
Wasn't Loya behind him?
Could he have fallen a full lap behind?
Fullbody furrowed his brow. The only explanation for this sight would be that Loya was a full lap behind, but based on what he knew about Loya, there was no way he could fall behind by so much.
Not saying much more, Fullbody accelerated and overtook Loya.
This was a new recruit assessment, and the only person who could help himself was himself. If he couldn't finish the assessment in time, it would only show that his strength wasn't enough.
"Come on, get it together, you brat."
Fullbody thought to himself.
Several days ago, Loya had already met the assessment standards, and his mental state today seemed fine. The reason he was so far behind now was most likely due to some external distraction.
Other recruits in the first group soon caught up. When they saw Loya and Morgan walking side by side, their hearts skipped a beat.
"It's Loya!"
"And Morgan!"
"Damn, Loya is being targeted by Morgan!"
If the Marines in the branch were to vote, the most respected superior officer would definitely be Morgan.
Morgan always had a cold expression and was incredibly strict with everything. Any little thing that didn't meet his standards could result in scolding.
At the same time, Morgan was incredibly strong, with even some officers being no match for him. Only Colonel Rod could suppress him in the branch.
The true terror of the 153rd branch.
He was both feared and respected!
"Loya sure is unlucky."
As the recruits passed Loya, a look of sympathy appeared in their eyes. While being overtaken by new recruits was embarrassing, they secretly liked Loya. If they were being targeted by Morgan, they'd probably mess up too.
Before long, the second group overtook Loya.
Even the weakest third group had reached Loya's rear.
"A whole lap behind."
Loya looked at the recruits passing him and clearly saw how far behind he was, but he didn't panic. Instead, he focused on keeping his mind calm.
"My body is adjusting."
Observation and reflection were among the best ways to learn.
Loya didn't just blindly copy Morgan, but instead, he analyzed the techniques Morgan demonstrated and combined them with the running form the instructor had taught him. He constantly adjusted his posture, searching for a pace that suited him.
Through trial and error, he had fallen far behind, but gradually, he began mastering a more efficient way of moving.
He'd figured it out!
His ragged breathing began to smooth out.
His disordered steps began to find their rhythm.
"My body feels so light!"
Loya could clearly feel that his body had become much lighter. Before, he had barely reached an acceptable level, but now, perhaps it was time to try pushing for excellence.
A radiant smile spread across his face.
"Morgan, I'm about to speed up!"
"Hmm?"
Before Morgan could react, Loya shot forward, his speed increasing dramatically.
This kid!
Morgan's eyes brightened as he quickly pursued.
Behind them, the third group of recruits stood stunned.
"So fast, what's with the sudden burst of speed?"
Just as they thought they might catch up to Loya, he suddenly left them far behind.
Damn Loya, when the first and second groups overtook him, he didn't do that, what's up with the special treatment?
One minute later.
The second group was in chaos.
"The new recruit has caught up!"
As they rounded a bend, the second group watched in disbelief as Loya passed them on the inside and then quickly pulled ahead.
What's going on with this kid?
Is he going to be able to keep up this speed, or will he crash soon?
"Look, Loya is about to overtake the first group!"
Everyone watched as Loya caught up to the tail of the first group and then swiftly overtook them at the next bend.
Hiss—he really passed them!
It's worth noting that the new recruits in the first group were all aiming for excellence, so passing them was no small feat.
"It's okay, that kid was a whole lap behind, it's not that easy to catch up. A speed like that won't last."
The recruits comforted themselves.
If Loya overtook them, they'd lose all face.
At this point, more than half the assessment time had passed.
The weakest third group was slowing down rapidly. The physical exhaustion of each member was severe, and they could only reduce their speed to keep running.
They knew that the gap between them and the other groups would only get wider, and unless something unexpected happened, the first group would overtake them again and again to finish in under 25 minutes.
"Excuse me!"
A voice suddenly came from behind.
Here it comes!
The recruits in the third group turned around, grumbling, but when they saw Loya alone, they froze, thinking it was some kind of illusion.
What happened?
Wasn't this kid just ahead of them?
"Excuse me, excuse me!"
As Loya strutted past them, the recruits in the third group finally understood what had happened.
FUCK!
They were overtaken by a new recruit!
The second group also noticed Loya rapidly catching up and felt a chill run down their spines, their sense of crisis soaring.
"How is this kid so ferocious!"
They thought Loya would slow down after reaching such speed, but instead, he kept getting faster, like a wild horse.
Damn it, losing to a new recruit in official training wasn't something to be proud of. They had to defend their seniority.
"Brothers, don't let him pass!"
"Understood!"
The second group closed ranks, blocking the track so tightly that anyone who wanted to pass them would have to take the outside, wasting a lot of energy.
Loya realized this and stayed just behind the second group, not rushing to overtake but waiting for the right moment.
Fifteen seconds later, Loya suddenly accelerated.
Ahead, the bend!
"Not good!"
As the second group stretched out to save energy on the bend, they left several openings.
Loya had overtaken them using the bend earlier!
Before they could adjust their formation, Loya shot through the innermost part of the track, squeezing between them as they focused on moving forward. When the next bend came, Loya accelerated again, breaking free from their formation.
They were busted!
The second group's recruits turned pale.
Being overtaken so easily by a new recruit made them want to dig a hole and bury themselves to avoid further embarrassment.
New recruits these days were monsters!
"Don't worry, there's still the first group!"
