Somewhere in a North Blue

The snow was falling continuously on a certain island with a distinct feature of its central mountain having the shape of a swallow.

The snow had covered the trees and the ground in a layer of white color.

This island was called the Swallow Island and it was quite famous in the North Blue for having a distinct shape.

A slim young boy around the age of ten was walking in the snow. He was wearing a long coat to protect himself from the cold weather, and he had a distinctive northern-style fur hat, which was white and had a spotted pattern along the bottom and the bill. He had very short black hair, a majority of which was obscured by his hat, save for his sideburns.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Awoo..."

"I am sorry... Please don't hit me... Aah... please don't hit me!..."

While the kid was walking on the path, he heard some painful cries and wails. He could not help but furrow his brows and decided to check out what was happening.

[POV]

As I approached the entrance to the forest, thinking about all this, I saw a polar bear cub and two children in the distance.

Both the children seemed around my age and each of them had an average face. One of them was carrying a big bat in his hand, hitting the polar bear while the other one had a black cap with a yellow brim and a red pompon on top. In the front 'PENGUIN' was written on the cap.

"Stop! Stop!... Don't hit me!" The polar bear cried in pain.

'What is that?!... Does a talking bear really exist?'

I was startled by the bear talking suddenly. I've indeed heard of a talking reindeer before, but it was still quite surprising since I had never seen one before with my own eyes.

At first glance, the relationship between the boys and the polar bear did not seem very friendly. The two boys kept kicking and hitting the back of the bear which opposed no resistance.

"Hey, hey, he might be a bear, but he's awfully weak!" The boy wielding the bat mocked the bear and nudged the animal's head with his elbow.

"Go! Go back wisely to where you come from, in the forest!

This time it's the boy wearing a hat with 'Penguin' written on it that hits the bear.

'Aah, how stupid they can be.'

Faced with this spectacle, to say the least unpleasant, I unconsciously click my tongue.

"Tch!"

Disturbed by this noise, the two acolytes look in my direction.

The boy with the bat said domineeringly. "What's wrong with you?! Do you have a problem? Get out of there!"

"No, I don't have a problem. I'm not interested in you or this bear. Do what you want."

Even though I was annoyed, I had no intention to put my nose in other people's business. I shrugged my shoulders and replied calmly.

"Hah! What a weak bastard. You don't even dare to fart in front of us. What a chicken!... You know what? If you put down everything that you have of value, maybe we'll let go!"

This time it's the guy with the 'Penguin' hat who stepped forward and grinned, trying to act tough.

'No matter where the wind takes me, I always have to run into trouble.'

I sighed helplessly as I looked at the two idiots in front of me.

"No more showing off, spill out the money!" They shouted and both rushed towards me, wielding a knife and a bat in hand.

"Room!"

As I let that word escape in a small voice, a dome-shaped circle appeared with me in its center.

"W... What is this?!"

"Are we locked up?!"

Two of them cried out in shock and looked around vigilantly.

I grinned happily as I observed the result.

'Perfect! Everything works fine. Without the old man's knowledge, I practiced hard and ended up mastering the powers of my devil fruit. I can now move and manipulate whatever is inside the circle as I please.'

I then grabbed two stones which were at my feet and threw them high into the sky.

And then...

"Shambles!"

The stones and the two boys exchanged places, the latter two naturally finding themselves floating in the air before falling heavily to the ground and losing consciousness.

Boom!

I was thinking that in addition to medical care, these powers could be effective in combat, but it exceeded all my expectations. But I would feel bad if these two were to die, so I examined them and found that they had just passed out.

"Hoh! What a great ability kid! It seems you have trained hard.'

Just when I was about to turn around and leave, a playful voice echoed from the distance.

I could not help but feel a chill run down my spine. I quickly raised my head and looked around vigilantly to find the source of the voice.

'Who? Where...?'

"Hello, Trafalgar D. Water Law..."

While I was looking around, I felt a presence behind me and someone even whispered softly in my ear.

"Who are you bastard? If you had the guts then show yourself!" I shouted anxiously at the empty space.

"Okay."

The voice replied and someone actually grabbed my shoulder.

'Fuck!'

I could not help but feel goosebumps all over my skin. I quickly turned around and threw a sharp jab at the enemy.

But the opponent easily caught my fist and slightly twisted my arm, a sharp pain passed through my shoulder.

"Room!" I shouted and used my fruit power instantly.

But the other party was faster as an invisible aura hit me in my face and I could feel my mind buzzing. My vision blurred and before I knew it I fell down on the snow, unconscious...

Sizzle Sizzle

"Mmm... w-where am I...? This place..."

I slowly opened my eyes and what appeared in front of my eyes started me. It was not a sky filled with clouds but a roof made up of stones.

Observing closely, I found that it was a cave.

On the left side, a small fire was burning, warming the surroundings.

A figure was sitting on the side of the fire. He looked at me and smiled.

"You are awake. Sorry for knocking you out earlier."

"W-Who are you?" I asked vigilantly, slightly scared of the young man.

The guy grinned and said in a confident tone. "My name is Luffy. And I want you to join my pirate crew."

"What?!" I cried out in shock.

'I-Is he serious...? B-But he is just a kid like me.'
