Only My Dungeon Equipment Levels Up! (SSS-Rank Weapons)

Chapter 53 - Cleaning, Moving, and a New Life

“Now, I will announce the first job of the Guild Mikenju Family!”

“What is it?”

“I’m so excited!”

“What could it be?”

“It is…”

Then, Kenya stood up and went to get something. When he returned, what he brought was…

“Cleaning and moving!”

Instead of a sword, the warrior was holding a broom. Today, they would say goodbye to this room.

(Thank you for protecting us until now.)

With gratitude in their hearts, everyone began cleaning together.

Moving day: Sunday

“Wow, Mikenju! I can’t believe you prepared the full amount in cash. Please continue to take care of us, Mikenju President!”

Kenya, who was finalizing the contract for the new apartment with Mr. Nezu, was shaking as he stamped the documents. Mr. Nezu smiled, rubbing his hands together as he spoke.

“Haha, well, I guess I am technically the president now…”

The Guild Mikenju Family had, in the end, become a corporation, and thus, a high school student president was born. All the paperwork was left to Nana and the people from Mr. Tanaka’s company.

(Once I stamp this, it will be five hundred million yen… *gulp*)

“Here you go!”

“Ah! Misuzu!”

“Come on, you have to be decisive at times like this! Right, Senior?”

And so, Kenya signed the contract, although he was reluctantly pushed by Misuzu. They had climbed from a single ten-tatami room at the bottom to the top tier where the wealthy congregated.

“Here are the keys. If you need anything, please feel free to contact us! Well then, I’ll take my leave now.”

After receiving the card-shaped key from Mr. Nezu, Kenya and the others entered the room.

“From today, this will be our home… I still can’t believe it.”

Nana stood frozen at the entrance, holding a large suitcase. There wasn’t much luggage since they planned to buy new furniture like a refrigerator and a washing machine, so there was hardly anything to carry.

“I feel the same, brother… For now, let’s unpack.”

Kenya also stood frozen at the entrance, with Reina behind him. And there was one girl who was more excited than anyone else.

“Yahoo! Hey, Senior! I want my own room! Please? Oh, and buy a big refrigerator. I want a TV like a movie theater!!”

Misuzu ran barefoot around the room, diving onto the sofa and begging Kenya. Despite being spoiled, it’s easy to understand why parents would dote on such a child.

“Alright, well, let’s think about the room assignments first…”

They placed their luggage down and everyone sat around the sofa and table. They decided to start by determining who would use which room.

Then I spread out the floor plan of the apartment on the table. The living room where Kenya and the others were currently sitting would be used as the guild’s headquarters. The plan indicated that it was 80 tatami mats in size. That’s eight times the size of my previous home—too spacious.

“For now, we’ll all share this room. Use it as you like for meals or whatever.”

“No objections.”

“Okay.”

“Understood.”

There were exactly four private rooms. The sizes were 30 tatami, 10 tatami, 10 tatami, and 15 tatami. On the floor plan, the rooms were lined up in a row from left to right: 30, 10, 10, 15.

We walked down the hallway where the rooms were lined up and checked them out.

“Then I’ll take this room.”

And just like that, the 30-tatami room became mine. The decision was unanimous, as I needed a large room to store the materials for the king series and alchemy ingredients. Besides, Kenya was the guild master, so this was only fitting.

The problem was…

“Rock-paper-scissors! Go!”

“Yes!!”

“Darn it!”

It seems the winner was Misuzu. They decided the room allocation by playing rock-paper-scissors, with Reina sitting out, leaving it as a duel between Nana and Misuzu.

“Haha! That means the 15-tatami room is mine. Sorry, Nana, Reina.”

“Ugh, you’re just a freeloader…”

“Ah! That’s forbidden! I’m a member of the guild too! An employee, you know!”

“Then the remaining two rooms. I’ll take this one.”

“Then I’ll take this one.”

Reina pointed to the room next to Kenya’s. Nana was in the room between Misuzu and Reina.

“Kenya, we’re neighbors. You’re always beside me.”

Reina smiled at Kenya. It was so natural, so gentle. Since that day, she had been smiling more often.

“Y-Yeah.”

I was mesmerized by her sudden smile. Petals seemed to dance between us, and seeing this, Misuzu hurriedly raised her voice.

“J-Just a second! Uh, maybe I don’t need a big room after all. Come to think of it, I prefer smaller rooms. They feel cozier, right? Reina, you can have mine! I mean, please switch with me.”

“No.”

Reina refused, her tone resolute, leaving no room for compromise.

“Okay, Misuzu, this room is yours. You’re the one most likely to cause trouble, like trying to sneak into someone else’s room at night.”

“W-Wait, Nana! Are you betraying me?”

Pushed by Nana, Misuzu was led to the room farthest from Kenya.

“Haha, well, let’s start unpacking our things. Not that there’s much, anyway.”

“Yes.”

And so, the four of them began unpacking their belongings in their respective rooms.

(Does Reina… like me?)

Kenya pondered as he unpacked. The signs of affection from her had clearly increased. But Kenya knew Reina’s past, a past filled with pain.

That’s why he believed that Reina was merely attached to him because he had saved her. It wasn’t her true feelings. It was like a newborn chick imprinting on the first bird it sees.

If there ever comes a day when Reina truly falls in love with him, how happy he would be.

From the start, Kenya had admired Reina. He admired her beauty, he admired her strength in battle.

But after fighting the Goblin King, after learning of her strength, after understanding her past, he wanted to protect her. And that night when he gave her the hair ornament, she stole his heart.

If he had to name this feeling, it was probably love. Thinking about her made him feel happy.

He was a high school student, right in the middle of puberty. Of course, there were times when he sought comfort alone, though in that cramped room, it was usually in the bath. Yet, recently, even his favorite videos, the ones he relied on, couldn’t hold his attention as much as thoughts of her.

It seemed he was spending more time thinking about her each day. But right now, he felt it wasn’t fair. Kenya, who was honest to a fault, thought it was cowardly to be kind to a deeply wounded girl now.

Like a man approaching a girl fresh from heartbreak.

(What’s wrong? If you need to talk, I’m here for you.)

In his mind, he imagined a personified version of his male organ, an uncaring scoundrel approaching a crying girl.

(Haha, that’s exactly how it is.)

Even so…

“Well, if Reina was my girlfriend, I’d be happy.”

Kenya muttered to himself with a light laugh in his room. The thought of having a beautiful, kind, and strong girl like her as his girlfriend filled him with joy.

Without realizing it, he had said his thoughts out loud. He didn’t even notice the presence of the girl standing behind him.

“If it’s okay with you, I would like to be!”
