Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 27: The Gym league

Later that day in the Pokémon center, Casey loooked at Haru as she spoke. "Hey Haru, how does someone become a Gym leader".

Haru looked at her and spoke. "I see you haven't done your research, will there is two ways, there is the yearly league battle that happens in every region like the Johto league in our".

Casey checked her badge case and sighed. "Only one badge, I don't I will able to do it".

Haru then explained. "And then there is the Gym league, that happens once every 6 months, During this time people that one to Gym leader gather and go to this place, it is healed In a different region every year, in here everyone battles to become the New Gym leader of there region, in the end the one that made to the final gets to be the new Gym leader for there region".

Casey's eyes lit up with excitement as she heard Haru's explanation. "That sounds amazing! So, if I want to become a Gym Leader, I just need to enter this Gym League and prove myself in battles?"

Haru nodded. "Exactly. But it's not just about winning battles. The Pokémon League evaluates your skills as a trainer, your strategies, your bond with your Pokémon, and how you handle challenges. It's not an easy path, Casey."

Jessie, who had been eavesdropping on the conversation, chimed in. "Sounds like a lot of work. Why not just find an abandoned Gym and claim it as your own?"

James rolled his eyes. "Jessie, that's not how it works. The League would never approve that."

Casey ignored their bickering and turned back to Haru. "Have you ever thought about becoming a Gym Leader?"

Haru shrugged. "I did, once. But after competing in the World Championship and traveling so much, I realized I enjoy the journey more than staying in one place. Besides," he smirked, "I think I'd get bored battling the same challengers all the time."

Casey crossed her arms, looking determined. "Well, I'm going to try! I'll train hard and enter the next Gym League. Just you watch, Haru—I'll be a Gym Leader one day!"

Haru chuckled. "I'll hold you to that. But first, you might want to focus on earning more badges. You'll need at least six to qualify for the Gym League."

Casey nodded enthusiastically. "Got it! Six badges, and then I'll conquer the Gym League!"

That night, as the group prepared to leave Ecruteak City, Haru sat by the campfire, staring at the TM Morty had given him. His thoughts drifted to his dream from the previous night—memories of his past life in Unova. What was that all about? Why now?

Jessie noticed his silence and nudged him. "Hey, what's with the serious face? You're not having second thoughts about teaching Earthquake to Electivire, are you?"

Haru shook his head. "No, it's not that. Just... thinking about something. Don't worry about it."

Jessie raised an eyebrow but decided not to press further. "Well, whatever it is, just don't let it mess with your head. We've got a long journey ahead."

As the fire crackled and the others drifted off to sleep, Haru made a silent promise to himself. I need to figure out what these memories mean. Maybe it's connected to why I'm here in Johto... or something bigger.

With that, he closed his eyes, ready for the next day's challenges. Little did he know, the path ahead would bring even more unexpected encounters and revelations.

The next morning, Casey done some research on the Gym league as she went to Haru for more information, as for Haru he was taking care of the Pokémon Egg.

Haru then spoke not looking at Whitney. "Yes if want to be a fire type Gym leader and if the region has a Fire Type Gym leader then you must fight them in the Gym League, no you don't have to take one type of Pokémon type to the league to battle, yes some Gyms just pass there gates to the children, yes some Gyms are based teams then types, does Gyms are allowed but annoying for trainers, yes Whitney was the last person in Johto to take the Gym league and win".

Casey blinked, processing the torrent of information Haru had just rattled off without even turning to look at her. "Wait, wait, slow down! So, if I want to be a Fire-type Gym Leader, I'd have to defeat the current one in the Gym League if there's already one in my region?"

Haru nodded, gently rotating the Pokémon Egg in its incubator. "Exactly. The Pokémon League doesn't allow overlapping types in the same region unless it's a specialty Gym. If there's no current Fire-type Gym Leader, then you just need to make it to the finals and prove yourself."

Casey furrowed her brow. "And what about the team-based Gyms? You said they're annoying for trainers. Why?"

Haru finally glanced up at her, smirking. "Because team-based Gyms don't focus on a single type. They use well-rounded teams that can counter almost anything. It's harder for trainers to prepare for them because you can't predict what kind of strategy they'll use. They're allowed, but most trainers find them frustrating since it breaks the usual type advantage system."

Casey nodded slowly, her determination growing. "Alright, I'll keep that in mind. And Whitney… she won her position through the Gym League?"

Haru chuckled. "Yeah, she was the last person in Johto to do it. Believe it or not, she wasn't as confident back then. But she worked hard, battled her way to the top, and earned her spot. That's why she's so protective of her Gym title now—she knows how much effort it took to get there."

Casey crossed her arms. "If Whitney can do it, then so can I! I'm going to work hard and make my dream a reality."

Haru smiled at her enthusiasm. "Good. But remember, Casey, becoming a Gym Leader isn't just about battles. You need to show the League you can represent your region, mentor younger trainers, and uphold the values of Pokémon training. It's a big responsibility."

Casey puffed out her chest confidently. "I can handle it! Just watch!"

As Haru turned his attention back to the Pokémon Egg, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in Casey's determination. She's got potential. If she keeps this up, she might just make it.

Meanwhile, Jessie, James, and Meowth were lounging nearby, listening in on the conversation. Jessie sighed dramatically. "Why didn't we ever think about becoming Gym Leaders? Imagine having our own Gym, James! We'd finally have power and respect!"

James winced. "Jessie, do you really think the League would let us run a Gym? We're… well, let's just say our qualifications are lacking."

Meowth snickered. "Yeah, da League probably wouldn't be thrilled about Team Rocket running a Gym."

Jessie huffed, crossing her arms. "You two have no vision."

Haru overheard them and smirked. "Jessie, if you really want to try, there's nothing stopping you. But you'll need to stop blasting off and start battling for real."

Jessie looked at him thoughtfully. "Hmmm… maybe one day. For now, we've got other plans."

Haru shook his head, amused, as he continued tending to the Egg. The day was just beginning, and he had a feeling it was going to be another eventful one.

Meowth then looked at the Pokémon egg. "So boss what Pokémon do you think is in it".

Haru looked at the Degine, then use Aura to check something he contect to the eggs wave link, as now he had to make it look like a random gess, lucky the egg had some degines.

Haru then spoke. "A Dragon Type Pokémon?". He hopes they didn't catch on, he wanted to keep his Aura ability secret for a while. "Will at least that is what I am getting from some of Degine of the egg, plus team rocket wanted it right".

Meowth scratched his chin, his eyes narrowing as he stared at the egg. "A Dragon-type, huh? Makes sense. Team Rocket ain't gonna go after no ordinary Pokémon egg, dat's for sure."

Jessie leaned closer, her curiosity piqued. "A Dragon-type… It could be something rare and powerful! Maybe even a Dragonite or a Salamence!"

James nodded enthusiastically. "Or perhaps a Garchomp! Imagine the possibilities, Jessie! If we had one of those, Team Rocket would—"

Haru raised a hand, cutting them off. "Calm down, you three. First, this egg isn't yours. Second, there's no guarantee it's something fully evolved or incredibly powerful right away. It's just an egg for now."

He glanced back at the egg, internally sighing in relief that his excuse had worked. While the egg's design did hint at a Dragon-type, his aura ability had confirmed it more definitively. Still, he wasn't ready to share that particular talent with anyone yet, not even his team. He'd keep it to himself for now.

Casey chimed in, tilting her head. "So, what are you going to do with it, Haru? Raise it yourself?"

Haru shrugged. "For now, I'll make sure it's safe and healthy. When it hatches, I'll figure out what to do next. If it bonds with me, I'll train it. If not, I'll find it a proper home."

Meowth smirked, tapping his paw against the floor. "Heh, dat's smart. But ya know, if it is a Dragon-type, it's gonna take some serious trainin' to keep it under control."

Haru nodded. "I'm aware. Dragons aren't just powerful—they're temperamental. But I'm not worried. If it comes to that, I'll handle it."

Jessie crossed her arms, looking at Haru with mild annoyance. "You're way too calm about this. If it were me, I'd already be planning how to make it the strongest Pokémon ever!"

James sighed wistfully. "Yes, but Haru's calmness is what makes him such a talented trainer. Isn't that right, Haru?"

Haru smirked. "I guess you could say that. Or maybe I just know when not to overthink things."

As the group continued their banter, Haru couldn't help but glance at the egg again. A Dragon-type… This could change a lot of things if it hatches and bonds with me. I'll have to be ready for whatever comes next.

Later that day, they went to the burn bell tower again, why because for some reason Haru wanted to as they went they saw a man,

As he looked like at themz as Haru recognise him.

Haru looked at him. "Oh it is you, again".

Eusin looked at him. "Well isn't it the Prodigy Of Johto".

Haru looked down, so did the Jessie, James, and Casey, as there eyes wident, as there was the 3 legendary beast, Raikou, Suicune, and Entei

Haru just looked at them. "Oh my Arceus we just meet 3 gods".

Eusin looked at Haru as he spoke. "Ethan not so loud".

As then the 3 legendary beast heard, a they then ran, as then Suicune landed next to Haru, the legendary Pokémon eyes meet with Haru as it noded and then jumped away.

Haru stood frozen for a moment, his eyes wide with disbelief as he watched Suicune leap gracefully into the distance. Jessie, James, and Casey stood slack-jawed behind him, struggling to process what had just happened.

"Did... Did that really just happen?" Casey finally managed to squeak out. "Suicune just nodded at you like you're some kind of chosen one or something!"

Jessie shook her head in disbelief. "No way. There's no way something that legendary would acknowledge him of all people!"

James, still pale, clutched his chest. "I think I need to sit down... That wasn't just a nod; it was like a divine blessing or something!"

Eusine, meanwhile, was staring at Haru with a mixture of awe and jealousy. "Do you have any idea what just happened, Haru? Suicune doesn't just stop and look at anyone! It's chosen you, whether you realize it or not."

Haru, finally snapping out of his stupor, frowned. "Chosen me? Come on, Eusine, don't start with that. It probably just stopped because I was in the way or something."

Eusine scoffed. "You can't be serious! I've spent years chasing Suicune, and it's never even glanced at me like that. You're clearly special, whether you like it or not."

Haru sighed, scratching the back of his head. "Look, I didn't ask for this, okay? If Suicune has some kind of plan for me, I'm sure it'll make it clear. Until then, I'm not going to overthink it."

Jessie crossed her arms, her skepticism written all over her face. "Oh, sure, you're just going to ignore the fact that you got a nod of approval from a literal legendary Pokémon. Totally normal."

Meowth, ever the opportunist, smirked. "Hey, maybe Suicune knows you're carryin' dat Dragon egg. Legendary types gotta stick together, right?"

Haru rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sure, Meowth. That must be it."

Casey, still buzzing with excitement, stepped closer to Haru. "You know, if Suicune really did choose you, that means you could be connected to all kinds of legends! Maybe you're destined for something huge!"

Haru gave her a wry smile. "Casey, I'm just a guy trying to get through the Gym Challenge like anyone else. Let's not blow this out of proportion."

Eusine, however, wasn't letting it go. He stepped closer to Haru, his tone serious. "If Suicune sees something in you, you owe it to yourself—and to it—to figure out what that is. Don't take this lightly, Haru. This could be the start of something extraordinary."

Haru met Eusine's gaze, his expression unreadable. "I'll think about it. But for now, let's leave the legends and destinies for another day."

With that, he turned and began walking back toward the city, the others scrambling to catch up. Despite his outward calm, Haru's mind was racing. Why did Suicune stop for me? What does it want? He glanced down at the egg he was carrying and then back at the path ahead. Whatever it is, I'll deal with it when the time comes.

Meanwhile Ash, Brock and Misty were walking, as then Pokémon went passed them as it was Raikou, but then for 1 second Raikou Evey's meet up with ash the legendary beast ran away.

As Ash, Brock, and Misty continued their journey, Ash suddenly stopped, frozen in place after the brief encounter.

"Was that... Raikou?" Ash whispered, almost in disbelief.

Misty frowned. "Raikou? The Legendary Beast of Thunder? Are you sure, Ash? You've been seeing things lately."

Brock adjusted his backpack, his expression more serious. "No, Misty, he's not wrong. That flash of yellow fur and the way it moved... That was definitely Raikou. But why would it come so close to us?"

Ash clenched his fists, his excitement growing. "I don't know, but for a moment, its eyes met mine. It felt... strange, like it recognized me or something."

Misty gave Ash a skeptical look. "Recognized you? Don't you think you're being a bit dramatic?"

Brock, however, placed a hand on Ash's shoulder. "No, Misty. Sometimes Legendary Pokémon act in ways we can't understand. If Raikou acknowledged Ash, it might mean something... or it might just have been curious."

Ash nodded, determination sparking in his eyes. "Whatever it was, I'm not going to forget it. If Raikou's out here, maybe we'll see it again!"

Meanwhile, over in Goldenrod City, Whitney was leaning against the entrance to her Gym, waving goodbye to a defeated trainer with her usual cheerful demeanor.

"Good luck on your next badge!" she called out before turning back to the quiet street.

Suddenly, she felt a shift in the atmosphere. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up, and she looked up instinctively. There, perched atop her Gym, was a silhouette shrouded in faint heat waves, its powerful form radiating an overwhelming presence.

Whitney squinted, trying to get a better look. "What in the world...?"

Before she could process it, the figure leapt gracefully off the Gym roof and vanished into the horizon with a blazing speed.

She stood there for a moment, her mind racing. "What was that? A Pokémon? But... it didn't look like anything I've ever seen."

Her Miltank trotted over, mooing softly as if sensing her unease. Whitney gently patted her Pokémon's head, her eyes still fixed on the spot where the mysterious creature had stood.

"Whatever it was, I've got a feeling it's something big," she murmured to herself. "Maybe I should ask around. Someone's bound to know what's going on."

Little did she know, the Legendary Beasts were moving across Johto, each one briefly connecting with key individuals in their journey, leaving behind more questions than answers.
