Pokémon: Day Bringer

Chapter 29: Haru Vs Jasmine

The next day arrives, as Haru went to Jasmine Gym, as then he saw Silver walking out as he looked at Silver.

Silver looked at him and showed Haru his badge case, as the was Bugsy, Morty and Jasmine badge, but one more it looked like that of the waves, it was clear Silver fought the water type Gym leader as he left.

Haru just mutrer. "Did he have to show off, with was that even showing of".

As he went inside of the Gym, as Jessie, James, Casey and Meowth followed him in as there they saw a battling ring, it was plane so no advance to either trainer, as Haru looked at Jasmine as she looked at him.

Jasmine stood calmly on her side of the battle ring, her serene demeanor reflecting her role as Olivine City's Gym Leader. Her Ampharos stood nearby, still recovering but looking much healthier thanks to Haru's earlier help.

"Welcome, Haru," Jasmine greeted with a soft smile. "I've been expecting you. I see you've brought your friends along to watch."

Haru nodded, glancing at Jessie, James, Casey, and Meowth, who were finding spots to sit along the sidelines. "Yeah, they insisted. Guess they want to see me take my next step toward the Johto League."

Jasmine's expression grew serious. "Well, I won't go easy on you. Steel-types are strong, resilient, and unyielding. I hope you're ready for this challenge."

Haru smirked, adjusting his coat. "I wouldn't be here if I wasn't. Let's make it a battle to remember, Jasmine."

The referee, a local from Olivine, stepped forward and raised a pair of flags. "This will be a four-on-four Gym battle between Jasmine, the Olivine City Gym Leader, and Haru, the challenger from Goldenrod City. Only the challenger is allowed substitutions. Let the battle begin!"

Jasmine reached for her first Pokéball. "Magnemite, let's start strong!"

She tossed the ball, and in a flash of light, her Magnemite appeared, floating steadily above the battlefield.

Haru didn't waste any time, pulling out his own Pokéball. "Marshtomp, you're up!"

Marshtomp emerged onto the battlefield with a confident cry, flexing its fins as it locked eyes with Magnemite.

Jasmine nodded approvingly. "A Water-Ground type. A wise choice, Haru. But let's see if you can handle this. Magnemite, use Magnet Bomb!"

Magnemite began glowing, small metallic orbs forming and hurtling toward Marshtomp at high speed.

Haru pointed decisively. "Marshtomp, counter with Rock slide!"

Marshtomp spat out a stream of Rock projectiles, intercepting the Magnet Bombs mid-air and sending them scattering harmlessly. The remaining mud struck Magnemite, causing it to wobble as its circuits sparked.

Jasmine's eyes narrowed. "Good defense. But let's see how you handle its speed. Magnemite, Double Team!"

Magnemite created several illusory copies of itself, all floating around Marshtomp in a disorienting pattern.

Haru grinned. "Nice trick, but we've got this. Marshtomp, Earthquake!"

Marshtomp stomped its feet, sending powerful shockwaves through the battlefield. The force rippled outward, destroying the illusions and slamming into the real Magnemite, knocking it out instantly.

The referee raised a flag. "Magnemite is unable to battle! Marshtomp wins!"

Jasmine recalled Magnemite, her expression calm but focused. "Impressive, Haru. But this battle is far from over. Steelix, it's your turn!"

She sent out her massive Steelix, which roared as it towered over Marshtomp. Haru couldn't help but grin as he sized up the challenge.

"Alright, Marshtomp, ready for round two?"

Marshtomp nodded confidently, standing its ground as the battle heated up.

Jasmine's Steelix loomed over the battlefield, its massive body gleaming under the Gym's lights. Its sheer size and presence caused Jessie, James, and Casey to gasp, while Meowth muttered, "This ain't lookin' good, boss."

Haru smirked, undeterred. "Marshtomp, we've got this. Keep calm and focused."

Jasmine raised a hand. "Steelix, let's begin with Iron Tail!"

Steelix's massive tail gleamed with a metallic shine before it swung down with tremendous force toward Marshtomp.

Haru reacted quickly. "Marshtomp, dodge and use Rock slide!"

Marshtomp leapt aside, narrowly avoiding the Iron Tail as it fired a burst of muddy projectiles. The Rock's Shot struck Steelix's face, causing it to flinch and roar in annoyance.

Jasmine's eyes sharpened. "Steelix, Thunder Fang!"

Steelix lunged, its fangs crackling with electricity as it aimed to bite Marshtomp.

Haru clenched his fist. "Marshtomp, counter with Water Gun, full power!"

Marshtomp unleashed a powerful jet of water directly at Steelix's open mouth, the force pushing the massive Pokémon back and causing sparks to fly as the electricity fizzled out.

Jasmine nodded approvingly. "Not bad. But Steelix isn't done yet. Use Sandstorm!"

Steelix whipped up a swirling storm of sand, reducing visibility in the arena. Marshtomp shielded its face, struggling to see through the storm.

Haru quickly formulated a plan. "Marshtomp, use Earthquake again! Shake things up!"

Marshtomp stomped hard, sending shockwaves rippling through the battlefield. The sandstorm dissipated as the ground shook violently, causing Steelix to stagger and roar in pain.

The referee stepped forward. "Steelix is unable to battle! Marshtomp wins again!"

Jasmine recalled Steelix, smiling faintly. "You've trained your Marshtomp well. But let's see how it fares against this. Skarmory, take the stage!"

She sent out her Skarmory, its metallic wings gleaming as it screeched loudly. The swift and agile Steel-Flying type hovered menacingly above Marshtomp.

Haru's expression turned serious. "Marshtomp, you've done great, but it's time to switch. Return!"

He grabbed another Pokéball. "Electivire, let's go!"

Electivire burst onto the field, sparks flying from its fur as it faced down Skarmory.

Jasmine nodded. "A strong choice. Skarmory, start with Air Slash!"

Skarmory flapped its wings, sending sharp blades of wind hurtling toward Electivire.

Haru pointed. "Electivire, counter with Thunderbolt!"

Electivire unleashed a powerful bolt of electricity, cutting through the Air Slash and striking Skarmory mid-air. The attack sent the Steel-Flying type crashing to the ground.

Jasmine frowned but remained composed. "Skarmory, Steel Wing!"

Skarmory's wings glowed as it charged at Electivire.

Haru shouted, "Electivire, dodge and use Thunder Punch!"

Electivire sidestepped the Steel Wing and delivered a powerful, electrified punch to Skarmory, sending it flying back. It hit the ground hard and didn't get up.

The referee raised his flag. "Skarmory is unable to battle! Electivire wins!"

Jasmine recalled Skarmory, her expression growing more serious. "You've done well, Haru. But my last Pokémon won't go down so easily. Go, Magnezone!"

The three-eyed, magnetic Pokémon hovered onto the field, its metallic body sparking ominously.

Haru adjusted his stance. "Electivire, you're up for the challenge. Let's finish this strong!"

The crowd watched with bated breath as the final round of the battle began.

Jasmine then smiled at Haru. "Tell me Haru have you heard of the reason Kalos".

Haru stopped, he remaed in his past life as prince of Unova he had heard of the it's navaring region Kalos. "Um yes".

Jasmine then looked at him. "They have this nifty thing called Mega evolution, were a Pokémon evolves again for a short time and it and some Pokémon gets so stong that they can destroy a whole trainer team by then self".

Haru blinked. "Why are you telling me this".

Jasmine then showed a ring on her finger, as if has a small gem. "Because, of this Magnezone it is time, Mega Evolve".

Jessie, James, Casey and Meowth just started to pray to Arceus for Haru.

As Jasmine's words echoed in the Gym, the gem in her ring began to glow with an intense light. The energy connected with Magnezone, creating a dazzling aura around it. The magnetic pulses grew stronger, and its body began to transform, becoming sleeker and more menacing. Its three eyes shifted, glowing with a crimson hue, while its metallic surface radiated a pulsating energy.

"Magnezone, Mega Evolve!" Jasmine declared.

Haru took a step back, his eyes widening. "Mega Evolution? I didn't think Gym Leaders had access to this yet."

Jessie, James, Casey, and Meowth were huddled together in the corner, whispering prayers. "Please, Arceus, save Haru. We don't want to be collateral damage!"

The Mega Evolved Magnezone floated higher, its electromagnetic field crackling with an ominous hum. Jasmine smiled confidently. "Now, Haru, let me show you the power of Kalos's influence. Magnezone, use Zap Cannon!"

The massive sphere of electric energy that formed in front of Mega Magnezone was far more potent than any Haru had seen before. It launched the attack with terrifying precision.

Haru clenched his fists. "Electivire, dodge and counter with Thunderbolt!"

Electivire narrowly avoided the Zap Cannon, which scorched the battlefield as it hit the ground. It retaliated with a Thunderbolt, but the electricity seemed to be absorbed into Mega Magnezone's body.

Jasmine smirked. "Thanks to its ability, Mega Magnezone can redirect electric attacks into pure energy. Your Electivire's usual strategy won't work here."

Haru gritted his teeth. "Figures. Electivire, let's switch it up! Use Brick Break!"

Electivire charged forward, its fists glowing with fighting-type energy. It leapt into the air, aiming to strike Mega Magnezone.

Jasmine responded quickly. "Magnezone, Flash Cannon!"

Mega Magnezone unleashed a blinding beam of light, forcing Electivire to brace itself. The attack collided mid-air, sending shockwaves throughout the Gym.

Electivire landed on its feet but was visibly shaken. Haru realized he needed a new approach. "Electivire, you've done well. Return!"

He grabbed another Pokéball, his mind racing. "Alright, it's time to turn this around. Scizor, let's go!"

Scizor emerged, its metallic claws clicking as it took a battle-ready stance. Haru called out, "Scizor, use Agility to close the gap and follow up with Bug Bite!"

Scizor darted forward, moving with incredible speed. Its glowing mouth then it let out and energy at Mega Magnezone, leaving visible marks on its metallic body.

Jasmine narrowed her eyes. "Impressive. But it's not over yet. Magnezone, Thunder Wave!"

Mega Magnezone released a wave of paralyzing energy, aiming to slow Scizor down.

Haru shouted, "Scizor, dodge and counter with Bullet Punch!"

Scizor blurred again, avoiding the Thunder Wave and delivering a rapid punch to Mega Magnezone, forcing it to falter in mid-air.

Jasmine smirked despite the damage. "You've pushed me to the edge, Haru. Magnezone, Hyper Beam!"

Mega Magnezone began charging a massive beam of energy, the ground shaking under the strain.

Haru saw his chance. "Scizor, this is it! Use Metal Claw to knock it off balance!"

Scizor's claws glowed as it dashed forward, striking Mega Magnezone before it could release the Hyper Beam. The attack disrupted its focus, causing it to stumble and revert from its Mega Evolved form.

The referee raised a flag. "Magnezone is unable to battle! Scizor wins! The victory goes to Haru!"

Jasmine sighed but smiled warmly as she recalled her Magnezone. "You've earned this badge, Haru. Your strategy and adaptability were impressive. Congratulations."

Haru stepped forward, taking the badge with a grin. "Thanks, Jasmine. That was one intense battle."

As his team cheered, Jessie, James, Casey, and Meowth collapsed in relief. "Thank Arceus, we survived!"

As Haru looked up at the clear sky above Olivine City, he couldn't help but think about the power of Mega Evolution. The battle with Jasmine had shown him just how dangerous and incredible the phenomenon could be. He wanted to understand it better, and maybe even use it for himself.

"I wonder if there's a Mega Stone for one of my Pokémon..." Haru mused aloud, his gaze focused on the horizon. His thoughts wandered to his own team. Scizor was a prime candidate for a potential Mega Evolution, but he wondered if there were other possibilities.

Jasmine, who had been quietly observing him, spoke up. "If you're looking for a Mega Stone, there are many rare ones scattered across the world. Kalos, as I mentioned, is where they are most commonly found. But they're not easy to obtain. Not only must you have the stone itself, but you also need a special bond with your Pokémon."

Haru nodded, taking her words to heart. "So it's not just about the stone… It's about the bond."

Jasmine smiled softly. "Exactly. A Pokémon can only Mega Evolve if it shares a deep connection with its Trainer. That bond is what unlocks the true power of Mega Evolution."

Haru clenched his fists, determination flashing in his eyes. "Then, I'll just have to strengthen that bond with my Pokémon. I won't stop until I find a Mega Stone that works for us."

Jasmine regarded him thoughtfully. "I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for, Haru. Keep training, and you'll be ready for anything that comes your way."

As he walked away from the Gym, the weight of the battle and the potential of Mega Evolution weighed heavily on his mind. Haru wasn't just interested in the strength it could give his Pokémon—he wanted to take on every challenge that came with it.

In the Pokémon center, Haru looked at all his Pokémon as he pulled out his Pokédex, as he checked each of his Pokémon

Haru looked at Houndoom. "It looks like your ability Early Bird changes, will this is better".

Haru smiled as he looked at his Houndoom, a spark of excitement in his eyes. "Flash Fire, huh? This is definitely better. Now you can absorb Fire-type moves and power up your own. That's going to be a game-changer."

Houndoom let out a low growl of approval, flames flickering at the edges of its mouth. It was clear the Pokémon was just as eager as Haru to test its newfound advantage in battle.

Haru then glanced back at the rest of his team. "We've come a long way, but we've still got a lot of work to do. If we're going to take on the League, we need to make sure we're in top shape."

He checked Marshtomp's entry again and smirked. "Moxie is working great for you, Marshtomp. Let's keep up the momentum."

Turning to Electivire, Haru rubbed his chin. "Static is solid, but we'll have to be strategic to make the most of it. Maybe I should focus on paralyzing opponents early in battle."

Looking at Meowth, Haru chuckled. "Meowth, you've been a bit of a wildcard, but Technician makes even your weaker moves hit hard. I might need to train you more for some tricky battles."

Finally, he paused at Scizor's entry. "Scizor, you're my ace. Technician combined with Bullet Punch is deadly. We just need to perfect your Sword Dance setup."

As Haru finished reviewing his team, Nurse Joy approached with a tray of Pokéballs. "Your Pokémon are fully healed and ready to go, Haru."

He smiled at her. "Thanks, Nurse Joy. Looks like it's time to start planning for the next challenge."

With renewed determination, Haru collected his Pokéballs and sat down with his team to strategize for their next big adventure. The road to becoming a champion was long, but with a team like this, he knew he was more than ready to face anything that came his way.
